This was my first year as a parent/fan  in the USA south conference.  Rooting for the Scott of course.  Also my first year really understanding and getting to know D3 football.  There is a lot more talent than most people would think.  I like the way the conference feels like a tightknit community.  I hope to return for at least three more years and enjoy this conference If not  Beyond that  as a fan.  I've enjoyed watching my freshman son playing all the games except for one that he did not travel (his own fault/Learning maturity).  I do think they need better spotters for the kids stats on defense. But nonetheless as a freshman I thought you had a great year especially in the Huntingdon game.
Congrats to the hawks for winning the conference  and making the playoffs. Good luck !!!  The scouts will be rooting for you !!!

I do not like the forecast for the Maryville vs Huntingdon game. All year the Scots have struggled in the rain. The loss to NCW was a wet day and Methodist almost came back and won after half time when the rain started. The LaGrange game I think somebody spilled a water in the stands or something.
Go Scots!!

Maryville made too many mistakes and Wesleyan played a complete game for once
It's like MC just melts down in the rain!!! That way last week as well. Need to turn on the sprinklers in practice!!

I was at the Game Saturday and there is a definite difference of the O when #25 is not part of the O. No excuses, but the biggest difference between the first half and the second half was the rain. The punt and punt return team for MC could not handle the ball at all in the weather conditions and MU could. The MC D came up big after our special teams gave up the ball three times deep in our own territory holding MU to three field goals. The MC offence seemed to go into safe mode in the third and finally coming back to life after losing the lead.

I was disappointed that E&H had a week 2 bye. Would have liked to see more of what they have coming into this MC game with E&H. First year following D3 so closely so I had to look back some. It looks like E&H has been a thorn in the side of MC. I know that the upperclassmen and coaches are stressing to the younger guys that this is a revenge game. Can't wait to be there to see it, it should be an exciting match up between a high powered offence and a stingy defence.
GO SCOTTS!!!

Why is it that the National Anthem is played anyway?  Nobody plays it before history class begins.  The connection between nationalism and athletics is what?
It began in earnest in World War II. You can google the question and find historical tidbits.

Thanks for sharing the History.. I know here in Texas at every level of sports the teams come on to the field and line up before the playing of the national anthem.

It was a neat atmosphere. Kind of strange I thaught that the fact that the visitor side filled up with home fans before the game started. But the Maryville player knew exactly where there fans were and fed off of there small gruop of fans when they needed it.

Been to two games in TN and still don't get why players are not on the field for the Natinal Anthem??

Go CRU! One of the freshman players for MHB, Jaron Dykstra came from La Porte HS and played with my son who is a freshman at MC.

I think another interesting aspect of the game is I know that MC recruits the the kids that are being sought after by the FCS scools and some D1 programs but got past over due to a senior year injury such as my son. There are quite a few of them on the MC squad.

Watched the East Tennessee game last night. They have some big boys but doesn't seem that they put it all togeather yet and play as a unit. I think MC has a great shot at beating them. Only thing that worries me is Rader knowing MC tendencies tendencies.

MC did seem to sputter out in the second half but I think Berry made some nice adjustments. The touchdown Berry got in the second half was purely a blown coverage. Other than that Berry had no answer for MC defense.  It was over all a great experiences to attend my first MC football game as a parent and a fan.
