So now answer this: how did George fox, a 2014 re-startup, manage to get, in 3 different games, within 2 possessions of linfield?

Having attended every George Fox-Linfield game since GFU revived the program, I can tell you that the 12-6 game in 2017 and the 14-0 game in 2018 were both played in absolute monsoons that significantly limited the offensive output. I think my socks are still wet from the 2017 game. in the 24-17 game in 2019, Linfield certainly controlled the line of scrimmage and won the yardage battle, but had five different drives take over three minutes of clock time that ended in a punt, turnover, or field goal attempt. Also GFU has improved consistently since bringing back football. The last couple games against Linfield have been rough (I'm just pretending the 2021 game never happened), but we'll get them one day. Hopefully in my lifetime.

Simon Fraser just dropped football, effective immediately. Is Linfield stuck at eight games now or do they have time to find a replacement?

Well Fox played like absolute garbage and deserved to lose. Not the first time we've pooped the bed against PLU. Ugh

....Wonder where all the various posters have gone... board is kinda boring now... we need new blood! Would think that Fox would have a poster or two...

GustyJ is a George Fox supporter, he posts occasionally. As for myself, what does this old Lute have to say when we haven't had a winning season in 6 years. Can't exactly talk trash. I can't even reasonably pick my team to finish second in the conference anymore. But I'm out here, lurking.

George Fox supporter and alumnus; kind of funny that I ended up there considering my dad is in the Linfield Sports Hall of Fame on his own and also as part of the 1966 national championship baseball team.

On another note, I noticed this week in the West Region Fan Poll that someone voted the Bruins 3rd in the region. Now I'm thrilled with the start of the season, but that means somebody put us higher than either Linfield or Whitewater, and that's just not rational right now. Let's maybe pump the brakes just a bit.

Look at GeoFo go!

Thanks! We're 2-0 for the first time since bringing back football, looking forward to seeing the team in person for the first time this year on Saturday

Both are quality wins too.  Best looking GFU offense since they're reinstated the program.
Totally agree. Schaan looks like a completely different QB from the last few years.

Ick. Any talk about George Fox football is too much talk. Losers.

I remember a while back someone asked why this board was only frequented by Linfield fans, and nobody from any other NWC teams participated. To whoever that was, here's your answer.

Ah yes, there's that terrible 13-17 shellacking at the hands of the eventual NWC champion again.
I forget, what happened in the playoffs after that?  I cannot find a link on the 'rat website.

I understand as you age, the internet gets harder to use and understand...but it's there. A win against OxyCollins and a loss to St. John's. It's not as if you are some stranger to that playoff ending scenario...

I was went back and watched a good portion of GFU's game and they kept running the same couple of plays over and over again that I could start picking out the pattern...it was strange and then I realized who was calling the plays.  GFU's offensive is Tully Ball 2.0!!!
It must be that exciting offensive play calling that packs so many butts into the seats at George Fox....

"Having a football team" is what packed my butt, and many other butts, into the seats in 2014. The novelty has pretty much worn off, so the consistent improvement since then is what has kept them there.

That is interesting, so I am watching these two programs, GF and Southwestern In Texas and how well a new program (well relatively new) does in their prospective conferences. Now last season SW won the SCAC conference but lets be honest SCAC was on it back legs as a conference, but hey a title is still a title. But what I do like is the climate and culture of the program (Southwestern) really upbeat and wanting to make strides.
So I ask this of the GF fans, what is the climate and culture of GF concerning their football program? As far as I can see as a outsider it's seems to be pretty solid.

I think the climate is quite positive. We're pleased with the work Coach Casey has done so far, and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised to see a winning record in only the third year back. Where we can improve is the culture outside the game, but I think that's a product of re-starting the program from scratch. The crowd still has a lot to learn; we aren't quite loud enough for my taste, especially in 3rd/4th down situations, but we're getting better. Tailgating was non-existent for the first two seasons, but it's slowly gaining traction. The overall community is also slowly getting on board with support, and though it'll be a while before the team is the pride and joy of the city like Linfield is for McMinnville, I think the potential is there. I mean we're only 60 straight winning seasons behind them; no biggie, right?

Pat has Fox over Linfield in his major upset pick in 2017.  Interesting pick but I think he was thinking about the Pacific/Linfield 2013 game during the Boxers peak 4th year.

The 'Cats do have a lot of questions....crap load of talent....just questions if and how soon it comes together and develops.

Even as a Bruins fan that sounds insanely optimistic. Not that I'd complain if it happened, but honestly I think we're still a few years away from making it a competitive game, let alone winning one. This year I'm just hoping to knock off Whitworth and take 2nd.

Didn't they lead the conference in attendance as well?

We did indeed, despite our alleged counting issues. Fortunately Coach Casey doesn't also teach math.
