Well, I went down a rabbit hole and ended up tracking down every NESCAC receiver to amass over 2,000 career receiving yards since the league formed in 1970. I know it's hard to be consistently good every week for an entire season. But this is a nine week season, and Wes almost always finds a way to drop a game like this against a team they should beat 95 times out of 100. I don't even know what to say at this point.

Hats off to Bates. Those kids were incredibly pumped. And they should be. A huge win for that team. That will be a fun bus ride home.

Watched the Bates-Wesleyan game, and I still can't decide who looked & sounded flatter - Wesleyan on the field or Nescacman on the telecast....

The Bantams have won at least a share of the league title 16 times (a third of all championships). The Ephs can claim 14 titles, while their rivals the Jeffs/Mammoths have won at least a share of 13 championships and finally, Middlebury has won or tied for the best record in the league 11 times.

At least one of these four schools has had the best NESCAC football record in 47 of the past 49 season (96%)! Aside from the big four, only Tufts (in 1979 and 1986) has won an outright title. Hamilton, Colby, and Wesleyan can each claim a share of a championship (in 1987, 2000, and 2013 respectively).

Mole, it looks like we may have duplicated our efforts but glad to see that your research turned up the same results. It bears repeating that in 51 seasons of NESCAC play there's been only two years where either Trinity, Williams, Amherst, or Middlebury didn't end up with the best record (Tufts in 1979, '86). In addition only Hamilton (1987), Colby (2000) and Wesleyan (1997, 2013) can claim even a tri-championship.

Since the formal inception of the NESCAC it really seems to be those top four programs and then everyone else.

I was on the Hamilton FB staff in 1987, and it was a very good team, losing one NESCAC game (14-9 to Trinity) and one OOC game (7-0 to Brockport in a horrific snowstorm) Had Herb Hand as an OT (now a D-1 OLine coach on the squad).    Hamilton has not matched six wins since then.....

Trinity lost one NESCAC game that year (13-10 to Amherst) and lost vs. Coast Guard 30-6 - I believe Rich Nagy was their stud TB then. 

Amherst lost two NESCAC games that year:  29-7 vs Bowdoin and 25-7 vs Williams.   

Bates had Chris Hickey as TB who was a major offensive weapon.  Ironic that Chris' son and my son ended up as teammates for Amherst FB in the late 2010's.

Alex Bernstein  -  was at Colby for 1 year, then transferred to & graduated from Amherst in 1997...Was DL in college, then moved to play OL in the Pro's...

This is NESCAC's version of the "participation trophy". Our recollection is that NESCAC did use head-to-head as a league champion tie breaker in football for perhaps a year or two and then scrapped it for some reason. As we have discussed (and previously shared the link to the documentation on the NESCAC web-site), they are just happy with ties now.

NM is right.  The only time this happened/mattered in the 9-game NESCAC era was in 2018 when Amherst and Trinity both finished 8-1, but the Bantams won the head-to-head matchup...while they were disappointed, no squawking came from the Mammoths.  NESCAC changed its direction soon thereafter, so co-champs could exist.

The sound is still not working for UMHB & Muhlenberg....   it is really disappointing, given the high production quality...how does the streamer get notified.?

Not so fast, my friend....In reality, the multi QB sets were implemented by Gleeson's former boss -  OC James Perry - who is now the HCOF at Brown University...it was Perry's innovation that Gleeson helped execute as an assistant coach.

Sure enough, Gleeson continued the sets after Perry departed for his first HCOF job at Bryant College

Nescacman -   I find it always easiest to bookmark D3 site either on my computer or my phone, then go to Scores for NESCAC -  can always find either the link to Video stream of game or to Live Stats - although "Live" stats is a serious misnomer.....

Agree that the CC board has been weak....Not sure why there is no chatter or digs at other schools, when it has 3 of the top 38 teams in the national poll....

AMH63 -  Bowdoin hasn't updated their football site in a while.  K. Loney moved off fb staff to athletic admin role;  R.Eggerling left a while ago - announced as DC at Southern Connecticut State in Sept.2020.
