What QB is Amherst on now? Hats off to Coach Raymond. The team has been competitive in every game besides the Trinity game. My pick for QB Cahill played a lot. I think he's the QB of the future for the team. Would I be going out on a limb predicting a win next week? Overall, the kids are playing and Raymond seems like the right pick.

Some good news considering Williams cancelled the scrimmage against Amherst last weekend. Coaches are finalizing plans to have an Amherst - Williams "Sub-Varsity" game this Sunday in Willytown.
So it appears that even with low numbers for Williams, they are still getting work in for the newbies! Wish I would have known this sooner as I would have shot up there this weekend to watch Amherst/Hamilton on Saturday and Amherst/Williams on Sunday.
Oh well .... Coaching my 10 year old's Mitey Mite pop warner team to a dominating victory over New Smyrna Beach will have to suffice !!!
Go AMHERST!
The game is Sunday at 1pm at Williams.

Season opens a week from tomorrow. Very excited. I am a little nervous about Williams. Not easy to scout them since it's the new coach's first game. Old film can be looked at but that may not reflect what he's doing with his Williams team. Any idea how Williams' O and D stacks up against Colby's O and D?
It's a rebuilding year, I don't think Colby has much to worry.

I didn't get the reason why, but I'm sure WestCoastDad hit the nail on the head. From what I witnessed last Saturday this was s very smart and responsible move by Coach Raymond. Kudos to him.

A nice Tufts-produced video of Saturday's Tufts-Bowdoin joint practice in Medford.
Really nice video

That sucks about the parent ban. I'm looking forward to the Purple and Gold Scrimmage tomorrow. I have no idea on what to expect.

Some Eph rumor mill...
1. The converted DB to QB who was the slated QB starter, like the Amherst #1 QB, tore his ACL in practice a few days ago and is out for the year. Ephs have NO idea who the QB will be... they've a couple of non-QB's on the roster to include a Canterbury kid (James "JJ" Dunn) who was slated to be a WR/Athlete starting the season. (He played QB in high school but isn't considered a college QB.) Right now the QB spot is just an absolute unknown in Billsville.
2. Ephs started practice with something like 65 to 68 players (before the injuries). This # PALES in comparison to Amherst and Trinity who typically start with 90 to 99 players (who then have to cut down to the mandated 75. The Ephs starting with this few folks bodes VERY poorly for a season.... one has to figure that 20+ (as per EphPapa2020) are frosh... that leaves 40+ as upperclassmen..... That few upperclassmen implies a tough go for the Ephs in 2016. Rumor mill in Billsville also says that the Eph JV schedule is at risk for cancellation given the #'s. My Eph prediction still stands.
Wow thanks for the updates... I haven't been able to get more than two words from my boy. This is going to be a long season... Have you heard anything about the Exeter kid Cahill at QB? Football is a game of attrition, and with those type of numbers, 1-7 doesn't seem like a reach. I will be at the Purple and Gold Scrimmage this Saturday, I pray for good health for all of these young men.

Papa: Rest assured that your son will have a first rate college experience, whether win, lose or draw a few football games.
That we can agree on. I am wishing for a competitive and healthy season for all of the young men participating.

So in talk radio parlance... First Time Poster.... Long Time (>5 years) Reader.......
2. Ephs (who still have their nickname) aren't looking strong in any way. 20 graduating seniors (with little depth) replaced by 15 recruits whom my sources said "have no size... none". Ephs started last year with about 70 total players..... down significantly by the end of the season. Subtract the grads who mostly played, add 15 frosh recruited by the former regime, and zero transfers. (The new regime was hoping for/promised up to 5 transfers, but the Eph frosh class was oversubscribed, so they got none.) Raymond thus will work with none of his own recruits this year. And add to the mix a projected starting QB who didn't play QB (listed but moved to DB/Athlete... He's just the best option they have). Tough break for a good guy (Raymond). 1 - 7 Eph Prediction..... 2 - 6 if very lucky.
Goodness Gracious! Is the sky falling also? I saw a bunch of size on Monday within the incoming class. The problem with the '16 team is that is will be heavily dependent on underclassmen. I am predicting 3-5, possible 4-4 season. I will have a better idea after the Amherst scrimmage.

Thanks for the report, Ephpapa. Good luck to your son, hope he gets a chance to see the field early in his career!
Thanks! I am hoping the same. We will all know soon enough. 1st practice is today...
