No idea what will happen but we have a shot. Need to make a stop on defense. Keep pass protecting. Never know

Don't know what to think about this game. If it was any other team with the record and sos coming into the Boz, I'd be pretty confident. But of course, it's not any other team. Biggest key, besides the weather has to be the turnover battle. If Hobart is not plus, don't think they have a chance. Run defense has been vastly improved over the second half of the year, they are going to have to continue and most important, not let MU get to the edges. That means Jemison and Harper need big games. Also have to bring the QB down when given the chance, cannot have him slip away like at St. Lawrence. Our DB's not only have to have a good game in coverage, they have to make tackles in the run game. Hope to see D'antonio out there.
Similar to St. Lawrence, will UMU pass defense be their Achilles Heal? Shed is a legit All American so do they double and force Sweeney to go elsewhere? Will this mean another WPI like game for phofl? Will be interesting to see. Can Hobart run the ball they way they did last week? If they can, I like their chances.
Now let's talk about a weakness that has been there all year. Can we make extra points? We cant miss one. Can we cover kickoffs? We haven't been able to. Will we even kick it deep? I hope not. Can we make a big special teams play. The game may come down to special teams, Which has to favor UMU.
So many storylines, guess that is what makes it a great game. If Hobart has the ball down inside one score at the end of the game.....oh boy
Will be there tomorrow, wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world. GO BART!!!!!!!!!

Agree with D'antonio. He was an impact player this year. Jameson was somewhat limited by injury. Conde and Downey had stats but did struggle in the middle early in the year. Both really picked up their game as the season progressed. Leaving Harper off completely doesn't make sense as he had two of the biggest plays on defense this year for Hobart and his INT against WPI was probably the biggest. Without that momentum changer, I think it's pretty safe to say they aren't playing this weekend. Although he did have some penalties early in the year, the calls were controversial at best and just plain bad at worst. As a senior, I'm sure he is disappointed.

No doubt it was a shock when I saw the brackets. It's been a incredible year so far with so many games we pulled out of the fire including the miracle at WPI. Looks like one more may be inline. Think we need the weather to be friendly for throwing and we must put enormous pressure on their QB to have a chance. According to team, JC could have picked off a few more balls that were dropped. Hope to have D'antonio back. Looks like no injuries of any sort from Rochester game. Barfield will give them an added dimension as he ran well last week. How they matchup with Shed will be very interesting. Do they think he is over hyped and single cover him or do they double and give opportunities to other players. So many angles for this one.

Little late but here is my take on Saturday's game, which I was fortunate enough to attend. Weather was a huge factor going in as Hobart is now almost exclusively a passing team. Couldn't ask for a better day in November. Feedback from some Union players to Hobart players was that they felt the defense was a little over-rated. Since they had not faced a throwing team, it was a great story line. We now know that it worked out in Hobart's favor. Not sure what the game plan was but to have #31 cover Shed by himself until late in the game was a risk that didn't seem to make sense. Under reported was how well the offensive line for the Statesmen pass protected. The all american defensive lineman didn't get his name called until late in the game and was not a big factor in the game.
Offensively, Mitch Gallagher is a stud. Hobart did not have an answer for him. The QB was very difficult to bring down although I felt the defensive lineman were tackling high giving him a chance to stiff arm and elude. He had some open receivers during the game that he didn't capitalize on. Their running game, which was exclusively between the tackles was not effective at all. Hobart has been playing the run much better as the season has progressed. For the second week in a row, Harper had a big interception.
With Rochester putting up a tremendous fight against WPI, will be interesting to see how that game goes this weekend. Will also be interesting to see how St. Lawrence bounces back against a similar offense in WPI.

In the stands. Cloudy. Moderate wind left to right. Hobart on field. St Lawrence in locker room.

What a win by the Bart. After scoring 70 last week game ball goes to the defense who made all the stops when it was needed. Once again Sweeney shows that he has ice in his veins. Going to be very tough in the bad weather to throw. Almost cost them the game today. Also the kicking game is a big problem. Wow my blood pressure can't take this every week.

Brutal loss for Hobart. Were in control the entire first half but were only up 10-0 at half. Second half kickoff for a big return set RPI for a score and the game was on. Yes Hobart was ridiculous in the amount of penalties but there seem to be many called at very opportune times for the Engineers. Including a face mask on the Hobart kicker many yards away from the play on the last kickoff that set RPI up at the Hobart 37. Game ending INT by Jamison was called back for pass interference on a flag that looked like it was thrown after the ball was picked off. That being said, a couple of things from the game. RPI recognized early on that they could get their receiver down the field against a Hobart inside linebacker. They went back to that play 4-5 times with great results drawing multiple pass interference penalties including on the final drive to negate the INT.
Shed was a non factor in today's game as RPI's #23 was able to shut him down. Other teams will take note how he was played and adjust.
Not sure why Hobart kicked the ball deep with minute to go as they had already given up a big return in the second half.
Hobart defense looked like a different unit against the run today. That should help them down the stretch and give them a chance to win the LL.
They don't seem to be blitzing like they used to negating some of the big play potential of Marcus Jemison. When they blitzed on the final drive, Todd Collier was able to sack the QB. Also they are getting no turnovers on D.
Shane Sweeney showed once again he is not someone the opposing team wants to have with the ball at the end of games. He is cool and calm engineering these drives.

Another amazing performance by Shane Sweeney. Has ice in his veins. No spot too big. Have to be very concerned going forward about the run defense. Just can't stop anything today. Congrats to MMA on a great performance. On to RPI

Is the wind a factor? Looks like ball were consistently short from sweeney in the first half

Huge drive for statesmen to end half. Get ball staring second. Defense has settled down. Should be a great second half
