Colby alums, parents ... have suffered a long time with poor teams. I'm no expert, but the OL and especially the DL have been undersized and lacked depth. Colby Football - he knows his football! When we have a new coach who has proven himself, and we start seeing a large number of recruits coming in (and I expect plenty of talent is in there. An honorable mention all state quarterback from Mass. is also coming), we start getting excited.

Just checking the revised list of commitments from the above clinic, Colby now has 13 names listed, up from 9 two days earlier. One addition, Liam Daly, a C,DT, at 6' 290 from St. John's HS in Mass. was second team all state. Like Colby Football, I'm starting to get excited.
Coach Cosgrove is bringing in the talent.

Mrs. Michaeles was coach of the women's hockey team for I think three years. The team did poorly. I watched some games being
streamed and they looked slow, and just less talented than the competition. She now works at Colby in the Advancement area.
I would think that the 'lateral' move from coaching had nothing to do with the performance of the football team which her husband coached.

I got a laugh about his complaint about Colby spending for a complete new athletic facility.
I've seen perhaps five hockey games at Wesleyan, and they already have a huge, modern rink. I hate to think what the replacement cost would be.
While walking around in between periods, I noticed a terrific swimming facility, and was just impressed in general. Wesleyan has already spent the money. I think President Roth has a lot of gall.

There was an article in the April 6 issue of The Colby Echo about the AD resigning.
The AD will be leaving 6/30.Please read this article. He explains in depth the family issues. Nothing smells. There is no North Korean conspiracy. Maybe I see things half-full, and you see things half-empty. You want the team to win all its games. I would like that too.
But it just isn't feasible. There are 9 other teams who want the same thing. Should 7 or 8 coaches be canned every year because their team doesn't win at least 6 of the 8 games? I sure hope not. There will be a new topnotch AD. Life will go on.

I would hate to be a coach. You're gone if you don't win 80% of the games. Aren't we getting a little overboard with our expectations? Isn't Colby investing some $200 million on totally new athletic facilities? The AD is leaving to be closer to family in another state. Nothing devious here. And another great AD will be hired. The College is doing great, in athletics as well as academics.

All this talk about firing a coach because his 2016 record is 3-5 is unsettling. This isn't division 1 where coaches make a million dollars plus, and teams are on ESPN every week.
