Congrats to Babson on it's first ever championship! Also a congrats to the three other teams in Salem--all 3 have a chance to be back soon. Giovanine has a dangerous group of talent coming back but the way he handled himself was disrespectful and arrogant once again. Ripping his jacket off in the Williams game and making it seemingly all about himself. It looked like he was having words with babson players post game unfortunately. As an annual goer of the Salem Final Four its really a shame seeing such poor sportsmanship.

It should be interesting to see what happens the second time around in the NEWMAC! Babson has been very impressive playing from behind and the experience is surely there. MIT has impressed thus far even without Jomard.

A lot of hype surrounding tomorrow's Amherst Babson game. Babson's bigs vs. Amhersts bigs should be very fun to watch as well the matchups on the wings with Flannery/McCarthy and Comenale/Racy.
It will be interesting to see whether Hix rides Dawson or Berman more in this game. In the last matchup Berman only played 12 minutes compared to Dawson's 28 mins.

In other newmac news, it appears Jomard is dealing with a finger injury that has slowed down the MIT team a bit at the start here.

From what I have seen, Palleschi has not been himself. He appears to be showing a limited arsenal in the post, and has not had great success. I think Sheldon has gone with smaller lineups quickly when TP is not affecting games as much as he wants him to early on. Look for Palleschi to regroup and start to show his true post game as well as his face up mid post game. Palleschi is a smart player, and once he settles in, Tufts should be able to get going. Definitely a tough skid for Tufts, but it may be the wake up call they need.

Dan Powers, also of the deacs with 15&13, this kid was solid all around and very physical with the Tufts bigs at points. Overall it was a scrappy win for Umass Boston, but it was a great one. I have heard nothing but good things about the HC the deacs have at the helm. Seems like he had the gameplan right for the jumbos.

Yes, there must been some talking in the locker room at halftime.  David George and others start to run the floor and more points inside via drives and rebounds.  JMac scores more inside and Racy gets his shots to drop...etc., etc.  Major concern is the "ankle injury" by Riopel...twisted in a battle for a rebound with Sellew.  Hope he can bring a spark again on Thurs.
Looked over the Stats in the Tufts lost.  What stood out is the apparent "poor stats" associated with the TWO big guns for Tufts.
Maybe the CAC teams do not like to play OOC games on Tuesday.  Amherst woke up in the second half.  Anyone guess what happened to Tufts.  Tufts HC is too good of a coach...must be scratching his head.  Looking at the playing time for Tufts player, does not provide an answer for me.  Is Mass-Boston that good?  Bad question on my part...is Tufts that much overrated as Mass-Boston underrated in NE is a better question.  Any comments posters?

I have to say after watching several Tufts games thus far, (1) in person, this Tufts team does look a bit overrated for its #3 national ranking. Not sure if this team has the firepower and grit to live up to that pre season ranking.

Congrats to Ana Maria on their first win of the year. A very young squad, with high potential in the coming years! Freshman Mike Rapoza continues to put up numbers as he lead the way with 24&20. Kid is a force on the block and is on pace for some staggering double double records.

Was able to get down and check out the Bates @ Babson game. Strickland is out with some sort of foot injury for Bates, and it really hurt them. Jeff Spellman- also hurt for Bates will need to get back to action to provide a spark for the Bates backcourt. Babson was able to turn their focus towards the Delpeche twins and have their way with Bates from the start. Babson had a nice spread out attack and Bates had no answer for Babson's wide array of weapons. Comenale led the way with 20 and 7, and boy has he been an ISSUE thus far for Babson opponents. This is my second game I've seen Babson play, and they look extremely dangerous playing both sides of the ball.

I was at the game and really agree with those posts, WPI's energy was huge to gain a double digit lead. With that being said Tufts seemed calm and collected throughout WPI runs and fought back hard from the 10 minute mark on in the 2nd.  Only took them a few minutes to regain control of the game-experience!

After watching newmac and nescac play for over 10 years, I have great admiration for how hard Coach Bartley gets his guys to play. It was quite a battle last night with the Jumbos, but Tufts was just overpowering in the last 10. Even with Palleschi not putting up big numbers, they found a way..

"Lukedunphy" definitely overreacted to whatever he may have heard. Assuming lukedunphy didn't have much "insider info" here. From
What I've gathered, some of the WPI players may have just not bought in. Nonetheless It is quite impressive what Bartley does with limited pieces some years! It should be interesting to follow them as they continue to grind away with guys like Doncaster and Converse who look to have gotten much better after seeing a few of their games in person this year.

Converse is a kid who works his butt off like I've never seen every second he is in there. An absolute animal on the glass as well as one can see by looking at any box score.

Doncaster looks like he is playing with extreme confidence this year. Had some big games last year but looks like he had a very good off season.

Plymouth loses to Colby-Sawyer in Monday's lone game.  Even though I picked it correctly, that is not a very good result and the fact Plymouth gave up 90 makes it that much worse.  22-13 conference, 24-8 me.  Now onto 5 games Friday, with all 5 games taking place on the road:

Dartmouth (-2.5) @ Brandeis.  Last year the Corsairs lost by 1 on the home floor.  The Corsairs only put 3 scorers in double figures last year lead by Rezendes's 26, but they seem to have more scoring options this year, but I'll still take the Judges 76-74.
Boston (+11) @ MIT.  2 years ago they suffered the first loss of the season in the championship game of their Thanksgiving tournament and then the next game won @ MIT.  This year their first loss was in the championship game of the Thanksgiving tournament and the next game is @ MIT.  De-ja-vu??  Nope.  MIT 74-65
Western (-16) @ New Rochelle.  This is the first year New Rochelle has had a men's team but they've held their own in losses to Harrisburg & Geneseo before beating fellow newbie St. Elizabeth.  Colonials will be too much for them but lots of points which means UNR stays in the game for most of it.  Western 93-85.
RIC (+8.5) @ Salem.  RIC actually opened last season with a 27 point win over Salem before dropping 11 in a row and 13 of their next 14 to derail the 2016 season.  Salem 81-69
USM (+10.5) @ Bowdoin.  Polar Bears won by 26 last year and Jack Simonds only scored 8 points.  This year Simonds is averaging over 25 points per game.  Even taking out Lucas Hausman's (graduation) 20 points from last season's meetings this looks like a bigger Polar Bear victory than 11 points.  Bowdoin 83-62.

Jomard(if healthy)-left last game with finger injury- looks to lead a young Mit team against Umass Boston-- MiT should be able to handle them comfortably as long as someone like Dan Powers doesnt get hot for UMBoston

Falcons back in action tonight; first home game for Albertus this year. They host Suny Old Westbury who went to NCAA last year as the skyline conference champions but are currently 0-3. Not sure who returned from last year. I would think Albertus wins tonight. Hopefully we see either Ellis or Jones tonight; both would be great.

Looking forward to seeing Jaleel Bell matchup against some talent that Albertus presents. Ellis should be fun to watch alongside Walters if and when he gets back to full strength.

Endicott does play well together and is a team that can really get hot offensively. Bettencourt does a really good job with what he has, too bad they don't have too many other "ranked" opponents on the schedule to prove their worth.

Midd- I had completely forgot about Baines-- St. Armor obiously an elite scorer, but bench must step up in nescac play.

another thought on WPI.. rumor around the region is that WPI lost two returners who were expected to have good years for the Engineers. Obi Obiora and Jashanti Allen don't appear to be back due to never seeing eye to eye with Coach Bartley. Seems like Bartleys system may be starting to fail. Always sad when Coaches jerk players around like Bartley has done recently with guys like Karalis, Davis and Obi.Unfortunate stuff.
