NFL Europa is no more, but the NFL is still seeking to grow its international fan base. Patriots tight end Benjamin Watson is touring China to help create interest there.
You can read the full story at www.nfl.com
When I think strategically about how the NFL can grow its international fan base the first thing that pops into my head is sending Benjamin Watson to China.

A mix of current and historic, off the top of my head:
1. St. John's
2. Concordia
3. St. Thomas
4. Bethel
5. Gustavus
6. St. Olaf
7. Augsburg
8. Carleton
9. Hamline
Just one opinion...
I love it....he is fuming!
Tooth, the lecture is gripping!

I need some help from all of you MIACers. As we speak I'm in class with a Bethel alum and former football player. We are arguing about what Bethel's place is in the conference. I'm telling him they are no better than the third best program in the MIAC (behind St Johns and Concordia) and he is saying that they are in the top 2 (won't even admit St. Johns is #1). Semi-objective input would be appreciated.

31 and snow didn't sound right for Spokane in the fall so I looked it up. Holy wow. Percipitation 9 of the next 10 days? People ask me how I can live through Minnesota winters, but they are nothing compared to rain every... single... day. How do you live with that?!?!?
It is usually very dry and cold this time of year in Spokane. It has a very different climate than Seattle.

Just wanted to say congratulations to all the MIAC award winners, and especially to the big 3, Kirby, Zach, and Coach Steve Johnson. I was a little surprised with the MVP and Stam at first but it makes sense once now that I think about it. A fellow defender winning the MVP is great, I've known Kirby and his family since I was 3 years old and they are wonderful people. He is very deserving of the award; he has been a playmaker all 4 years. As for the Stam, I wasn't surprised that it was someone from Bethel, but I thought it would be Wasink (sp?). However, since Zach was a dominant player on a very good defense it also makes sense for him to receive the award. Also a big congratulations to all my Concordia teammates that made the honors teams. Great year everyone, and good luck Johnnies!! Keep it going!!
Just wanted to add that Whitworth is going to get absolutely owned...those one-eyed dirty pirates are going to get beatin' like little red-headed step childs!!!!!!!!

MR is bitter because he didn't see the field at the Pinebowl in '02.

Whitworth is goin' to get owned by the J's this weekend....SJU in a rout, 35-14 phone it in!
Mighty Royal
P.S. Chuck Norris will make the Pirates beg for mercy!
MR is just hatin' on Whitworth because the Rats did something Bethel can't do....win a playoff game. Keep your head up MR, it could happen someday.
Rockcat,
I dub thee an honorary Johnnie for that post! Karma for you
Bethel is an easy target. MR just makes it impossible to resist. He and other Bethel fans should retreat for the offseason and prepare to return to their rightful place in mediocrity. (AW, I know you're lurking and reading this!)

So, does anyone know the history as to the SCIAC decision to transition to the NCAA?
I can't speak for the SCIAC's decision but the NWC made the move to 1) improve academic recognition by being affiliated with stronger institutions 2) save money

In the face of that argument, should they even play tomorrow?
As GHC says, "Phone it in."

I didn't even know CMS had a varsity football team until Cal Lu lost to them. If Claremont can put up 30 on CLU than Oxy will but up 50. It will be a blowout just like last year.
Eagle,
I had to reprioritize once classes got rollin' this fall. Haven't even made it to a single D3 game yet this year. I'm hopeful a NWC team will be in SoCal in about a month.

SCIAC gets one team in. No chance for two. There is no way Cal Lu beats Oxy and a two loss SCIAC team won't have enough quality wins to get in.
