Attended the Game at Ted Runner this past Saturday with a close friend whose son is a backup at Redlands.  You are correct in the fact that UR's 3's and 4's were running all over Whittier's Starters.  With that being said, the Dawgs could have been more conservative in the 2nd half with play calling...but anyone who pays attention to the SCIAC knows that wasn't going to happen.  Can't fault Maynard for getting his players to keep the foot on the gas, but you can't deny his M.O. is to usually pour it on.

Penalties (According to UR Box Score)

WC with 7 for 77 Yards
UR with 7 for 94 Yards

Both teams has personal fouls, UR with multiple late hits out of bounds, WC seemingly more in the 2nd half when it got out of hand.  Sometimes we tend to point out cheap shots more from the team that is losing, but I personally saw a number of dirty plays from both sides, although my friend from UR adamantly disagreed with me  ;D

Thoughts, predictions?

Way too early 2017 prediction:

1. Cal Lu
Returning athletic playmakers on both sides of the ball, plus what is most likely a transfer heavy class, provide the Kingsmen the horses to take care of business. Assuming everyone comes back (not always the case), getting off to a fast start will be key.

2. CMS
Been finishing near the top for a little bit now.  Losing QB and best DLlineman, but could still have enough pieces with size on both lines and skill positions, including Pre-Season All American Victor Bunce.

3. Redlands
Return a lot of talent, but can this year's team score enough points and overachieve to meet expectations set after last year? The Bulldogs' season could be decided by their downfield passing game, The team will go as the QB goes!

4. LaVerne
Natural for a team to have a down year after a championship run with a senior heavy team.  The Leopards were probably a little better than their record indicated last year.  Can the Leo's find some consistency? Their offense can put up points but can also turn the ball over in bunches. Defense needs to do more bending and less breaking!

5. Chapman
Will be interesting to see their incoming class, they have some pieces in place already; if the new guys at the right positions adjust to the game speed quickly, the Panthers could be a tough out.  The problem is you never know what team is going to show up any given week!

6. Pomona-Pitzer
2016 was a Good year for the Sagehens, and was a few plays short of a Great year.  They return weapons on offense, including probably the best RB in the SCIAC, and experienced starters on defense, but I'm still skeptical of their ability to match up physically across the board.  See PP losing some close ones this season.

7. Whittier
Two straight winless year for the Poets, who struggled on both side of the ball in 2016 and don't return anyone who was close to all-conference.  Wasn't much of a difference under the New Head Coach, but I would imagine year 2 would be an improvement, even if that means winning just 1 game.  Recruiting has to be a tough sell.

8. Occidental
Things aren't trending in a good direction right now for the Tigers. Head Coach "retires" right before the season with a thinning roster.  Makes you wonder what their incoming class will look like.  Oxy struggled even with a stud at QB last year, cant see things going well for the residents of Eagle Rock in 2017.

Thank you.  It will be interesting to see how the classes of CMS and PP are affected by their recent success as well.

When do SCIAC teams typically release information about their respective recruiting classes?
