I'm sure this has been discussed before, but can someone explain the delineation between region 1 and region 2? It doesn't, well, seem particularly regional. There's not a clear southern / northern or western / eastern split. Or is it done by leagues? And if that's the case, what happens if an MIT or Brandeis were to be ranked?

Anyone know why the top 25 scoreboard lists CNU as #1 and Williams as #5?

Ok, so we're in a lull in the season, so here's a question that's been bugging me since last year: what happened to Duncan Robinson's in the NBA playoffs last year?
He opened the playoffs with 27 points in 23 minutes in Game 1 against the Hawks going 8-9 from the three. He then gets 7, 14, 9 and 13 minutes in the next four games. He didn't shoot great, but also got a low number of shots (except in game 5). Did the Hawks figure him out? Did he go cold? Was he hurt? Anyone know the story?

Some non-statistical memories of Nogelo:
1. His senior year, fairly late in the year at home against Trinity, he got an elbow to the forehead and had to leave to get stitches. Came back a little later in the game and came back in like he had never left. Those Trinity guys were physical, but he was tougher.
2. Game at Springfield (playoffs?) he had the most heads up basketball play I've ever seen in person. It was very late in a very close game. He took a 3 from the top of the key that clanged off the rim and ricocheted to the deep left corner. The ball should have been out of bounds, but Nogelo was somehow there to grab the rebound and hit the follow-up three. It was a remarkable example of seeing where things were going to go before they happened. Reminds me of the Jeter scoop. You wouldn't believe it if you didn't see it.
While not an all-time great, anyone who watched those late 90s teams had to love the heart of Jimmy Frew...

I mean, I guess they might keep the playoff teams on campus until their season is over. But I can't imagine them sending everyone on campus home except for spring student athletes. Kind of defeats the purpose of the closure. It's a shame for the athletes, but then again, it's a shame for all the students, who all have important activities going on outside of their academics. This is not to say Amherst made the wrong call, or that other schools won't be doing the same in the coming days and weeks.
As for sports, I assume its only a matter of time until NCAA starts canceling athlete travel and tournaments all together. Every big sporting event breaks all the public health guidance about large gatherings. Boston just cancelled its St. Patrick's Day parade, SXSW has been rescheduled to the fall, the Indian Wells tennis tournament was cancelled.

Great win for Williams yesterday!
Ran into a former Colby player ('98) at my daughter's swim meet today. Turns out, he played for a while in a Watertown, MA men's league with a group of Colby, Middlebury and Williams basketball alums. At one point, his team featured Nogelo, Crotty and Coffin. That must have been an impressive squad. Would have loved to have seen that.

Very off topic in these NCAA times, but Duncan Robinson started (!) tonight for the Heat.

14 minutes into the Michigan game, Duncan Robinson is 3-3 from 3 point land and has scored 9 of Michigan's 21 points.

Duncan Robinson big drive featured on front page over at ESPN as UM defeats MSU. Knows how to step up in rivalry games, huh?

Ok, so here's a D1/D3 cross over question. Coming off a 11 gaming losing streak, with a record of 10-13, a team pulls off back to back victories over the #4 and #1 ranked teams in the nation. How the hell do you rank them in the next poll? Obviously I'm talking about St. John's (NY) over Duke and then Nova, but how would a situation like that play out in D3? Has anything even remotely like that ever happened (outside March Madness)?
