Quote from: D3fanboy on March 03, 2025, 10:09:52 AMBGSU's head coach abrutly left to take the QB coach job with the Eagles, and a couple of Purple Raiders are listed as possibilities

QuoteMount Union head coach Geoff Dartt is 56-4 at the Division III Ohio powerhouse. Though the program hasn't won a national title since 2017, Dartt has reached the national championship game twice in the last three years, including last season. The former Mount Union player has spent all but one year since 2017 with the Purple Raiders. Lance Leipold made the move from Division III to the MAC and won at Buffalo. Could another coach do the same?

Toledo defensive coordinator Vince Kehres was Mount Union's head coach from 2013 to 2019, winning two Division III national titles. The 48-year-old knows Ohio through and through, and he regularly has produced one of the top three defenses in the MAC since arriving in 2020.

Vince seems like a perfect candidate for the job

unless VK is dead set on becoming a HC right now, he might want to wait it out.  With spring ball starting up in a matter of days, a new 30 day transfer portal window for BGSU players its going to be a tough, tough start for the new head coach.  former NDC coach Mike Jacobs sounds the favorite right now if you trust the interwebs

Sorry, the position has been filled by Eddie George of Ohio State and Tennessee Titan fame.

I think Marcus Freeman(ND) would give Geoff Dartt a run for his money in gum chomping.
Congrats to the Buckeyes!
National Champions once again!!

Quote"I blame myself a little bit for some of the play calling and not allowing our guys to do what they do best," said Mount Union head coach Geoff Dartt, who suffered his first loss in 18 games.

"Obviously were prepared for what they were doing on defense. We didn't execute at the end of the day. A lot of that was on me as the offensive play caller."

after loss to NCC in '21

Quote"Congrats to Alma," Dartt said. "They played a lot better than us today, and obviously give them a lot of credit. I'll take a lot of the blame as the head coach in terms of having the team prepared."

"We got down in the red zone and couldn't finish there. I'll put that on me from a play-calling standpoint. We have to be able to protect the ball and we didn't do that. That's not on the players. That's on me as the head coach and the offensive play caller."

after the Alma embarrassment in '24

Quote"That was bad coaching by me, plain and simple," Dartt said. "We should have took a shot to the end zone. If we didn't have it, throw it out of the back of the end zone and kick the field goal.

"That's on me as the coach and play caller, not on our guys."

last night

I'll give you a guess as to what he said after the gross Otterbein and Muskie games this year as well

The father of LK's grandkids (and the greatest gum chewer this side of the Mississippi) is obviously not going to be fired, but for the love of all things holy hire an Offensive Coordinator

Ken Dorsey is now in the unemployment line and looking for a new job.  He likes to throw the ball.  It's either this or coaching peewee football in his home town.

Quote from: CaliRaider on January 06, 2025, 12:15:16 AMWith all due respect, those of you that refer to yourselves as Purple Raiders "fans" are a disgrace.  You know who you are.

Sucks to lose but to listen to the trash that you spew all year long is tiring.

These kids and coaches bust their ass, and you rarely ever acknowledge that. Easier to just throw insults after insults. Do us all a favor and try really supporting the team.

Signed a die hard purple raider champion!

So you were fine with the 3rd down run in the red zone with no time outs late in the 2nd quarter?
No question in your mind about why they ran that play and give up the possibility of a sure 3 points and have the momentum going into halftime AND get the 2nd half kickoff?
How dare the ESPN announcers even question that play and do it on national tv.
Maybe you should contact ESPN and ask them to reprimand those two announcers for questioning a purple raider play.

It is going to be another Thanksgiving at the Kehres house with the SIL sitting with the kids at the card table on the folding chairs.
Will that ever change?
Will he ever get to sit at the big table with the other national championship head coaches?

Just looking at the National Champion bracket, I see Ohio State plays Texas and Penn State gets the winner of Notre Dame and Georgia.
One thing I don't see is the corn and blue on the bracket.
Just remembered that TSUN didn't make it this year.  That must mean they will be WATCHING the games from their La-Z-Boys in the comfort of their basements dreaming of what would have, could have, or should have happened this season.
Hopefully they didn't eat all of the cookie they got for beating the Buckeyes so they can split it into 3 parts and enjoy a piece while watching the 3 remaining games knowing that they are not one of the teams left.
No matter who wins, it won't be TSUN.
Their invitation to the big dance must have gotten lost in the mail.

Quote from: Fido0650 on November 17, 2024, 02:39:16 PMThe Kehres family Thanksgiving should be interesting this year with the SiL having to sit at the card table and folding chairs with the kids.
LK has banned him from the main table.  That table is reserved for National Champion head coaches and their spouses only.
Will 2025 be the year he is allowed to sit at the main table or will it be the card table with the kids another year?  Only time will tell.

Quote from: BergAlum2 on December 21, 2024, 11:05:42 PMBuckeyes must be saving the Ryan Day special for the game against Oregon 😂
That victory last night just earned Ryan Day a $150K bonus.

Quote from: BergAlum2 on December 21, 2024, 07:51:27 PMI hope Ohio State plays like North Central tonight  ;D
It seems like the Buckeys turn it on for a quarter then turn it off for a quarter.  Hopefully they keep it turned on for the fourth quarter

How did Capital sneak into Riverhawk uniforms?
It wasn't easy but you have to give Capital credit for pulling it off.
A bigger question is what did Capital do with the real Susquehanna team?

Quote from: Fido0650 on December 14, 2024, 06:57:25 PMLet see, Mount playing pretty well.  Home game for Mount.  This means 3 out of 7 "experts" will take Johns Hopkins, even though Salisbury beat them 41-13 on 9/21.
Oh, and the computer still only has a 50/50 chance of picking the correct winner.  Two teams, one wins and one loses.

Where can we find your predictions for the previous games so we can chat about your accuracy?......That's what I thought.

1.  Not an "expert"
2.  I don't make predictions.
I am just a college football fan that is too old and too wise to make predictions about anything in life.

Not sure who you are, but I must have hit a nerve about making predictions.  Where can I see your prediction accuracy or are you just a keyboard warrior that likes to comment on other people's posts?

THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT..........

Happy for the Mount Union fans, but like other people on this thread have said, this was easily their best performance of the season. Far from being broken, I think the model did what it was supposed to do setting a baseline expectation. It wouldn't make sense for a computer model to predict outlier performances.
[/quote]

Also... to be fair the model did CORRECTLY pick the winner of the game.

Had a 50/50 chance of picking the correct winner. 🥱
He will have the same 50/50 chance of picking the correct winner again this week. 🥱

Quote from: HansenRatings on November 27, 2024, 12:05:29 PMWhile we're talking about bulletin board material for Mount Union...

Here's a video/audio breakdown of my advanced stats preview for the game! Which my model thinks should only be a (gasp) half point spread in Mount Union's favor.
DIII Football Advanced Stats Preview - NCAA Playoffs Round 2 | Mount Union vs. John Carroll

I go over this in the video, but the spread is as close as it is because more recent games matter more in my model than in other models (like Massey or Bill Connelly's SP+, which have this as a 10-ish point spread in Mount's favor). And I don't think it's very controversial to say Mount's last game was not a good one.

Your "crystal ball" must have been broken like a McDonalds ice cream machine because 42-7 is a little more the 1/2 point between the scores.

Quote from: theaprof on November 25, 2024, 09:50:45 AMAny info yet on playoff tickets for Mount??

I keep checking! Haven't seen anything.

I just bought my tickets!

Looking forward to a great game.... hopefully more pressure is put on JCU than the first game. This game is going to go the way of the offense and defensive lines and they better be ready! Go Ders!

Season ticket holders can get them now and non season ticket holders at 8am on Friday.
Haven't purchased mine yet.
Is kickoff at noon?
