Oxy football gets a mention via FoxNews:

USFL first: Stars score three-point conversion for 30-23 win over Maulers
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/usfl-first-stars-three-point-conversion-win-maulers

QuotePhiladelphia Stars quarterback Bryan Scott solidified his place as one of the top signal-callers in the USFL, leading Philadelphia to a 30-23 win over the Pittsburgh Maulers in a heated competition on Saturday afternoon that saw several lead exchanges and the first-ever three-point conversion.

Scott, a standout at Occidental College, put on a stellar performance to give the Stars their first win of the season, totaling 273-passing yards for three touchdowns and one on the ground to kick off Week 2.

Previewing the Belton Pod (which includes Chapman)

Chapman led Mary Hardin Baylor 80-69 with 4:30 to go. But UMHB outscored CU 19-1 the rest of the way and won 88-81. Chapman finishes 22-5.

Meanwhile, Pomona beat Northwestern (MN) 67-66 and will take on Elmhurst in the second round.

Athletes wearing masks during competition is most ludicrous rule ever enforced.
Oxy is pretty darn ludicrous these days.

That is histerical. Helarious.

Oxy wears masks on the court.

Oxy even brags about it:

QuoteIn Occidental's game this last Monday the players wore N-95s to compete against West Coast Baptist - this, however, did not hinder their performance.

However, scroll through all of the pictures on the Oxy b-ball website and you'll not find a player in a mask.

D3football.com Top 25, 2021 final

A Top 25 ranking for No. 24 Redlands (8-2), who lost twice to No. 5 Linfield. Nicely done, UR.

Merry Christmas to all.

You can work out soms Xs and Os on the 2 hour flight.

UR is going to need a shtload of Xs and Os. Not likely to be pretty.

I don't think Redlands would win a rematch with CMS

Special guest post from RFB:

QuoteSince 1990, CMS is  4-27 against Redlands, including a loss at home this season.

Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda

The only coaches that read this board are the Oxy coaches....

That's funny. Wistful thinking.

CLU has some injuries that will put two key O-lineman out for the Redlands game.  It will be a tough climb, but I am wishful that they might put together a complete game.  Wishful is the key!
The bookies in Vegas and the Redlands coaches who lurk on this board thank you for the information.

Not to mention the CLU players and coaches who lurk here.

The offensive play calling two weeks in the row was terrible  and I blame Lugo.  The O-line was not able to pick up the blitz and they deserve to lose.  The QB was shaken last week and seems to have happy feet in the pocket since last weeks drilling.

UR/Oxy Game

Jack Kemp would request his name taken down from the stadium if he was still alive.

My favorite memory of Oxy vs. UR is meeting Dan Selway and his dad on the field after yet another Oxy victory. This would have been during Selway's 5th or 6th or maybe his 7th year of eligibility. I wanted to congratulate Selway on his play but instead I got an earful from Selway and his dad as they launched into a harangue about the refs, the lousy lighting, the crowd, etc, etc. So Redlands.

As for Jack Kemp Field, Oxy describes it so: "Occidental payed tribute to famed professional quarterback and former Occidental Tiger on April 29, 2011 by naming the College's first and oldest athletic facility Jack Kemp Stadium. Jack Kemp Stadium includes W.C Patterson Field and Bill Henry Track." https://oxyathletics.com/facilities/venues/JackKempStadium

It's paid, Oxy, not payed. Someone should be tarred for that error.
