Interesting, I got asked by UR why I do not donate, Is it because of the position we have taken on issues? yes...I got the same question in a survey from the college I attended too last year, same answer.

They don't even bother to ask me.  They know my position based on the letter I wrote in support of Coach Maynard.

Apparently the SCIAC will be composed of two pods next year.  CAL Lu CMS and Chapman and Redlands La Verne and PP.  Teams will play each team in their pod twice.  The team from each POD with the best SCIAC record will play for the SCIAC championship the last game of the season.

That's the stupidest thing I've heard yet.  RIP SCIAC.  Well on the way to killing off more football programs.

Redlands pretty much dropped football this year too.

Dawgs,

Not looking to debate with you but a young coach taking a job, where the best any team had done in 25 years is 5 wins...obviously football is not that important to Admin and they play in tough conference, not a great formula. I am sure it was one of those jobs a young coach thought he could turn around (he was in his early 30's) ...Fast forward he works for MM a ton of years along with the best DC in the league. Their is a long list of coaches that have failed at their first jobs...gone on to win. We need to recruit better linemen, and fine tune a few things. We are not that far from being at the top again. Maybe we go the JC route next year...top guys will get scholies, but maybe we land a couple undersized guys that can play.

J.C. transfers can help immediately as far as good players, but sometimes it changes the team chemistry.  My boy says it did this year at CLU, but they are starting to gel better now.  CLU have three tough games in a row with Redlands, CMS, and P-P.  If they finish with 2 out of three wins, I would be happy.  They could just as easily lose all three or win all three.  We will see.

I think I found the problem...

See why I should stay off the boards, things turn negative. I mention Jim Good and his staff knows what it take, now they are taking shots for one down year, entirely not fair......I like the staff so you wont hear me taking shots....league champs too many times to argue. UR has always done well recruiting in the NW, and Jim lead that charge for years....
Can't let stupid people discourage you from your takes.  We all appreciate your opinions.

Not sure what about his resume demonstrated an ability to be the guy to run a program, I mean maybe 10-30 at Hamline is an accomplishment, but I'm just a stupid people that sees Redlands potentially losing 4 times this season to a bunch of nerds at Pomona and Claremont.  That's not a recipe for recruiting in the PNW against schools that kick your ass. But hey, Jeff Martinez has lifetime job security.

Jim Good sucks.  Knows what it takes to run a program...into the ground.  Linfield spy - not that they needed one.

If anybody has a copy of the letter in question, I'd love a good laugh this morning.  I get that they don't want there to be gloating.  They have tried to do this as quietly as possible, which I suppose I can't blame them for.  I have to say, there isn't much satisfaction in this.  I think Bill Belichick said "I hate losing more than I enjoy winning."  It certainly feels like that in this case.  It was a completely pointless exercise in PC stupidity, and has left behind a mess.  Now these turds think there is blood in the water, and will be circling Coach Maynard hoping, even baiting him into a misstep.

Again, I don't envy the position the University found/finds itself in, but at the end of the day, Coach Maynard has his job back, and the University did the right thing.  But I can't believe the effort that it took.

University punted on a decision today.  My guess is they are stalling trying to negotiate a "retirement."

If Maynard goes, 32 years of alumni, donors and future Bulldogs go with him.  Coach has brought so many men into the University through football and brotherhood, paying thousands more than they would elsewhere.  The University is in a bad spot, but the lasting impact of alienating this group of alumni will be far more painful than the outrage of the week social media tweet storm.  It's going to be explosive.  I penned a letter in support of Coach, but I have my doubts about how fair the process is. I don't think he coaches again and if so, I don't donate again.

I'm not a fan of individuals with outsized ego's. I'm surprised Harry could find a helmet to fit him. I'm not the only one who thought that either, but it was a long time ago so I will leave it at that.

I get it, for sure.  I didn't hang out with the guy, but he could flat out play football and won games for us, and that was the only thing most of us cared about.  Just really weird that you took a shot at him here, no prompting, nearly 25 years later.

I'm the guy that airmailed the snap over Rags head on 3rd and 4 in the first half of the crazy 59-52 loss to APU in 99.  I got moved to OT the next season hahaha.  Craziest game I've ever been a part of.  Azusas QB threw for over 500 yards too.  And he was 6'5" 290 lbs.  Bigger than any of our linemen.

Danny Ragsdale dropped 600 yards and 7 touchdowns on APU in 1999.

That was a wild game. APU 59, UR 52.

I played with Danny, he was a major twat.

Interesting. Ragsdale was awesome, but I didn't know that being a major twat was one of the qualifications for winning the Gagliardi Trophy.

Rino Marconi was the best QB to play for Redlands in the last 25 years. I will die on that hill.

Are YOU Rino Marconi?

Negative

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps has won 31 of the last 37 SCIAC All Sports Trophies.  Even in wacky California, nobody ever considered kicking them out.  Pathetic.
