Best of luck to Wheaton and North Park tomorrow. Tough games for both, but crazy things happen in March!

North Park draws a bus ride to Alliance to face Mount Union.
Wheaton draws a flight to the Atlantic Coast of Virginia.
Both teams with steep hills to climb, but are playing great basketball right now *knocks on wood*
Best of luck to North Park and hoping we can make an all CCIW Natty a reality!

The men do not have better luck and get embarrassed at Millikin. Not much to say about it but wow did Millikin dominate this game. Credit to them! Schauer said it after the win against NCC on Saturday, this team has a lot to figure out defensively and they need to figure it out soon.

There is another poster on these boards who may be younger than you all may think
And I'm hoping that the Wheaton men have better luck in Decatur tomorrow than the women did recently...

Wheaton escapes Kenosha with a 65-64 win where they needed every second to put it away.
Adom (Ah-Dome) with 24 points to lead the Thunder along with 7 rebounds and 4 assists
Alioth posted yet another Double Double with 11 points and 12 rebounds
Eli Considine was a needed sparkplug on the defensive end as he was called upon to slow down Fillip Bulatovic who is a special basketball player.
Bulatovic had 21 points for Carthage with 12 rebounds and was three assists shy of a Triple Double with 7 assists
Firebird big man Anthony Bernero played very well in his first start posting 10 points and 5 rebounds. He also went down with a horrific ankle injury in the final minute of the game. It was cool to see Wheaton and Carthage come together to pray for Anthony (much the same as when Wheaton and North Central gathered to pray for Aiden Chang who suffered a similar injury in the 2018-2019 season). I absolutely hate to see players go down to injuries like that and pray that he gets the care he needs this evening and can return to the court as quickly and safely as possible. He is a promising young player.

Congratulations to Wheaton's Cade Alioth for being named the CCIW Student Athlete of the Week. Cade has been an absolute force on both ends of the floor up to this point. He is averaging 16 (plus change) points and 13 (plus change) rebounds per game on the young season. His defense inside and his ability to be in the right place at the right time on seemingly every rebounding opportunity has been huge for the Thunder this season. Looking forward to him continuing his dominant play!

Wheaton steamrolls Aurora. Zimbelman was a force. Unfortunately for Aurora, you need to do more than one thing really well to win football games as Aurora only tallied 15 yards rushing while Wheaton tallied well over 400 yards rushing with over 200 yards through the air as well.
Hazzbeen helps bring the first bulletin board material to life that was given before Central even went final against Bethel. Interesting strategy from the Dutch. A scary good and rolling Thunder football team travels to Iowa next Saturday.

Final prediction has Wheaton in and hosting Aurora and NCC hosting Greenville

Wheaton is in and hosts Aurora. NCC hosting Carnegie Mellon.
Wheaton did exactly what they needed to do and got a lot of help the last day of the season. Time to take advantage of the opportunity they were given, because they certainly are playing their best football right now.

Well one thing is clear the wrong hire was made last year because there's no way the administration thought this was a one year deal. This is exactly what happens when hires are made based on politics and alumni influence instead of who is the flat out best guy for the job. Let's see if Augie can get it right this time.
Not every day you get a second chance to make the right decision. You're right tko, they should have hired Jim Thomas a year ago.
Let's see if they can do that this year, but my bet is the job goes to Tom Jessee. A sudden coaching change like this one seems to me to be quickly filled by promoting an assistant. We'll see how it goes though.
Yes, Coach Thomas is certainly who tko was referring to. 🙃
Tom Jessee? Really?
Apparently sarcasm is a lost art . . . Obviously coach Kelly was talking about himself. I was with the camp that thought Thomas should have been the guy who Augie chose last year. His ability to recruit kids from this area (Chicago Suburbs) would be second to none. Ask anyone who's ever played for him at DGN or for Mercury Elite. Was a no-brainer for me.
Also, why wouldn't you promote someone who is already with the program?

The NCAA just announced that they will be providing Eligibility Relief to all athletes in spring sports for Division 1. I'm holding out hope that this same relief will be extended to D2 and D3 athletes as well if seasons truly are canceled.

After a 3-0 opening weekend for Wheaton, David Solfelt and Sam Reichert swept the Conference Pitcher and Player of the Week Awards respectively. Solfelt was dominate through 5 scoreless innings in his debut as a starter: Striking out 8 and was hitless through 3. Sam Reichert came out of the weekend with a .583 average with 7 hits in 3 games including a homer and a few doubles. Congrats to both players!
Wheaton with an understandable amount of errors for it being their first time outside and playing games last weekend, but the fielding needs to get cleaned up sooner rather than later.

Wednesday in the ARC
It's late February and things are fluid in the conference race. Buckle up.
UD 130 @ Coe 86 UD handled Coe at home relatively easily. Tougher task in Cedar Rapids.
NWU 6 @ Simpson 187 Simpson gets in with a tie or better with Wartburg. That said, all Wolves in this one.
Central 319 @ BV 73 BV right in the thick of the seeding battle cruises here.
Wartburg 208 @ Loras 67 Knights have to finish ahead of Simpson for a postseason berth. That means they have to win at least one game in Dubuque. I say they won't.
Basketball is a crazy game. Simpson almost thirty-pieced NWU last night... I'm surprised no one has posted here about that yet

Can someone post the shot Aston Francis hit at IWU last Winter?

Try this. It's a package deal with the Andrew Jahns putback from 2010 and the Adom shot from tonight

What a shot! 3 missed free throws in the final seconds sealed IWU's fate in this one. Adom took over and fittingly ended it. Great game and a very large win for the Thunder.
