It may prostrate you, but it's cancer of the prostate gland. Prayers for Coach Giovanine.

Thank you Mr. Sager for helping me out with the formatting. I clearly don't know the program. And as much as I would love to be in Fort Wayne this weekend, I will be there in spirit only. I may see you (on the live feed) but you won't see me!

Well, that was about as big-time as you will ever see in your life. I mean, Aston Francis......wow. Just beyond words what that kid did last night.
I have made a lot of friends from Wheaton College over the years through my association here on d3boards.com. You guys have been knocking on this door for so long, with so many great teams and players. Happy for all of you.
In particular, my thoughts are with the late Dave Lawrenz ("Wheaton C" here) - a great friend and the biggest supporter of Wheaton athletics you'll ever find. He is certainly smiling today.
Titan Q, I met you at The Shirk in 2003 when I was there to see my son Taylor play for Wheaton--I flew out from Oregon and watched him roll his ankle in the last minute of practice the day before the game, so he was out of commission for the week. Anyway, Dave Lawrenz was a friend of mine, he served on the Wheaton College Alumni Board with me for a few years back then, and he was the one who introduced me to you. I "lurk" around this board to keep up with the real scoop for CCIW football and basketball, and it was actually on this forum that I heard of Dave's passing. I had lost touch with him so did not know any of the circumstances. He was a good man and an absolute die-hard WC fan. Thank you for mentioning him.
Paul T. Armerding
I will see everyone in Fort Wayne.

On the topic of a CCIW HOF, Mel Peterson certainly belongs in the Wheaton College HOF, but I am fairly certain that the years he played at Wheaton were years that WC had dropped out of the CCIW, so perhaps he would not technically be eligible for their HOF.
Nope. Mel Peterson was a three-time All-CCIW first-teamer, in 1956-57, 1957-58, and 1958-59.
Wow. I'm correcting an Armerding on a point of Wheaton trivia. This is the best ego stroke I've had in weeks.![]()

In keeping with that theme, what years did Wheaton drop out of the CCI(W)? I'm still a bit of a sports nut, but certainly not a member (obviously) of the CCIW facts HOF.
And while we're on old trivia, I was at a WC-NP game as a youth that I know has been referred to on this forum, when NP scored what would have been the game winner at the final buzzer, a basket that was waved off by Wheaton's clock official (Frank Bellinger) who happened to be the father of my best friend. Just for the record, to my eyes the shot was good. Even as a youth, I was embarrassed. So maybe that's two smiles in one day from an old WC grad.

You have not seen my name here before. I am a Wheaton grad, around the age of Joe Hakes (sorry to hear about your medical situation and hope the healing continues Joe. We sometimes played in the same neighborhoods back in the 60's). My son played for Wheaton 2000-2003. And my dad was HTA, which will mean something to Wheaton folks. I still follow the league, and am delighted about the quality of live streaming of the games; and I occasionally check in to the forum. And my user name refers to my weight, one that I used to laugh about ever reaching, that now I look at in the rearview mirror, at least in the winter.
