I watched the games at Wittenberg online and was highly impressed by Oshkosh.  I also saw the Stevens Point vs. Oshkosh at Stevens Point when Oshkosh did not shoot as well as they did this weekend.  Both teams play aggressive defenses that seem to give them the advantage most nights.

I guess I assumed that the WIAC would get at least 2 teams through to the Sweet 16--after all, they had opponents from lesser conferences  ;) ;) like the MIAC and the CCIW--it was the unknown of the Ohio conferences that gave me some pause that 3 was possible.

Anything goes from here on out--too bad Point and Platteville aren't in different pods; that horse is already under a heat lamp at Sonic.  :o

Coach Giovanne was either stubborn or stupid. Neither a good thing.

Disagree. The results speak for themselves.

Quote from: BBJones on March 03, 2018, 04:49:36 PMWhat about Wash U not covering the inbounds pass vs. Aurora?  Major faux pas cost them the game.

Disagree about that, too. I've discussed it in detail on both the NACC and 2018 NCAA Tournament pages.

I don't think Wash U really did anything wrong in that final sequence.  I think the inbounder made a tremendous decision, and pass -- and then the kid who caught it and shot it just made a spectacular play.

(Interesting - looks like one of the AU players was trying to call timeout before the inbounds.)

As I said on the NACC page, I strongly suspect that it was a set play by Aurora. Matt Dunn (#3) turned to the AU bench, and then immediately gestured at the guy with the ball in his hands who almost pulled the Chris Webber (#20, Ty Carlson) to give the ball to Max Vickers as Vickers was stepping across the endline to inbound the ball.

I haven't been here for long but are you God or something?  Just because you say it it is accepted as an absolute?  Humor me and let me know why I should accept your view as the only view.  Thank you.  ???

Why don't the Titans get any respect on this site?  They were lampooned in the pre-tournament reviews as well.

Oshkosh at Wittenberg looks like a compelling matchup.  I saw the D3Hoops analysis pre-tournament suggested the Titans couldn't beat Marietta.  So now what?

Good video and play by play from Wittenberg.

NCC assistant coach Steve Schweer is one of three finalists for the UW-LaCrosse head coaching job. I'd be very surprised if UWL's current interim head coach, Kent Dernbach (another one of the three finalists) doesn't get the job, but it's nice to see Steve listed among the finalists. He'll have his own program before very long, if not at UWL then somewhere else.

I am not thrilled the finalists where listed because I think it only hurts Steve... because I think this is just a procedural thing. Maybe I think of this differently, but in a situation like this... I wouldn't be advertising who the finalists are for a job I think we all know is going to Kent. If Kent doesn't get it, that is a completely different story.

I suspect that there is a state law in Wisconsin that mandates the U of W System having to reveal finalists for an open job position, or something to that effect.

That is correct.  Only King Barry Alvarez does not comply.  :o :o

Who gets the Lawrence job?

Congrats to Yeshiva, I hope they work out all the previously addressed Sabbath requirements.  That should be respected by the NCAA.  Also provides an educational opportunity for all of us understand the beliefs of the Maccabees.  :)

I attended the quad that Hope College hosted first and second round last year.  After sundown, the Wisconsin teams--Ripon and Oshkosh, who both lost close first round games--exercised a few demons with the holy water of Holland, which they eventually ran out of at the hotel bar.  :o

ESPN is watching closely as they all know the D-1 cow is running out of clean milk.

Can you imagine the infrastructure changes that will be needed at ESPN to broadcast the Marian vs. Finlandia game in 2019?    ;D ;D

Duax is the safe MOP bet, with Platteville winning the league.

If this was an MVP contest, Boots relative value to Oshkosh is an interesting discussion, if you look a these teams on a with and without basis.

Not as important as team success.

NCC was unimpressive in the last 5 minutes last night.  I've watched them 4-5 times this year and feel they are rated a little higher than deserved.
Might still be in.

Have you watched them for 5 minutes at a time? I'm pretty sure you can watch any team in the basketball world for only 5 Montes and See some very good and/or very bad basketball.  I think a full resume rating requires a closer look.

Yes, as I stated, 4 or 5 times.  Just saw the last 5 last night.  Sorry if I was unclear.  Good luck in the tourney to your team.

Watched the Oshkosh at Point game Friday and walked away thinking MJ Delmore was a flopper.  Another slide in play just before half today vs. River Falls confirms that.  Has a unique way of dragging a leg to take/get undeserved fouls both as a defender and as an offender.  Effective but causes mild irritation, unless you are a Dawg fan.  Reminds me of the Showalter kid who played for Wisconsin in this regard.

Delmore carried Point on Friday--and will have to do so today to beat this pesky River Falls team.  23-21 RF at half.

If he is able to sell the foul how is that undeserved??

At any rate, Point WIAC champ 59-44 over RF

Hr sells and sells and sells it....kinda like Crazy TV Lenny.  WIAC ref Peter fell for it Friday night, multiple times.  My point is MJ gets too many of these calls. Wow, he had a great tourney regardless.

Good luck to Point in the tourney.

Who had 8:13 of the first half in the jacket-ripped-off pool?

I watched that game.  Is the Augie coach a villian in the CCIW?
