Obviously you just watch football on your laptop. Both quarterbacks actually played well but sometimes the defense plays better during points in the game. All 3 interceptions Roste threw were great defensive plays. King threw one that was ill advised but Linfield had no shot at beating the Cru but if it makes you sleep better at night then go ahead and believe it. We lose a lot next year so maybe that will be your year.

What about a playoff system similar to high schools that use division 1 or 2? They determine it based on enrollment size but it could be modified to use any criteria. Maybe 32 in big division and 16 in the other or maybe proximity to each other for cost savings. Maybe the smaller division could play for the Mahogany and Brass instead of the Walnut and Bronze. There has to be a way to separate the teams that want to play the tougher playoffs and those who would like to go the easier route.

Happens way too often for the teams from Texas and the Island teams. They could always let them fly somewhere and if both teams win it would be a bus ride second round and not a flight. Same matchups every year but imagination with matchups isn't their strong suit. Sad as it is, in the end you have to beat the team they put in front of ya. Anyone ever researched which team had the easiest path to the Walnut and Bronze? Which team played the least ranked or lowest ranked teams before the championship?

The selection committee can be very creative with matchups.  NCAA's rules prevent the kind of unrestricted travel that would make everybody happy.

For the umpteenth time- Division III only gets teeny fraction of the NCAA's money to play with and Division III football only gets a small part of that small part.
I know this is the explanation given every time. But this still makes it a playoff based on lack of funds and not merit. I see in one breath you guys mention that if Mt. and NCC are considered the 2 best teams they will be placed on opposite sides. If MHB and Trinity were the best 2 would they be afforded that same option? Of course not. What if the best 4 were from the south? Would they all have to beat each other in the first rounds? That's a tournament based on funds and not merit. So if we feel slighted sometimes, then maybe we have a small reason. We know and understand the money the NCAA limits us to will dictate the matchups.

Strong, strong disagree.  Access to the tournament is based on merit.  You have to win to qualify for the tournament.  If you want a tournament where the teams are perfectly selected, seeded, and paired on a 1-32 basis, you're ALWAYS going to be disappointed because they'll never ever be able to do that accurately.
I never mentioned merit for access to the playoffs. I was talking matchups all based off money and location. Win lose or draw is really not the matter I was addressing here because I know you have to win them all to be champions. I just know as a Crusader fan if we beat HPU this week then our playoff journey will be in some order either Trinity, Huntingdon, St John's, HSU, Linfield, WW, Mt U. All really fine schools and programs that can beat us on any giving day. . Would be great to play some teams we have never faced or rarely faced before facing the Usual suspects in the Stagg Bowl if we are so lucky to make it that far. It's great to here about some of these programs you guys talk about but we never get to see or play them.

Well Trinity and Linfield sure aren't getting rewarded for winning their conference with that scenario. I know the Cru aren't playing like they are capable but they weren't playing up to par until the playoffs last year either. They seem to play better on the road in the playoffs anyways.

Hardin- Simmons to Trinity and Huntingdon to UMHB or UMHB to RMC are some good game options for first rounds of the playoffs. Think the ASC wins both those games.

I'm thinking HSU is getting in as a pool C and heading down to SA and will pull the upset over Trinity. Just a feeling. Since they say RMC had a tougher schedule than the Cru then we can head on over and play someone we don't play very often. MHB vs HSU in the second round.

So you think the winner of the ASC would have to travel in the first round? That sounds like some bias the Committee might attempt but pretty unlikely. Not that a game with Trinity won't happen but not sure the two conference winners should play first round again. Also know that HSU is a lot better than that score Sat. Things just got away from them and the Cru capitalized on those mistakes. It happens, just ask North Central.

"hosting" UMHB.  Like the sound of that.
Said noone ever! Good luck with that one.

The Cru didn't completely gel until the 3rd round of the playoffs last year and NC was still the favorite heading to Canton. So they can still get there. My main concern is that in all my years watching Cru football we have always had defensive ends that wreck havoc on QB's and blowing up running plays. Without pressure our young dbacks and backers are getting killed. The Cru are known for defense and flying to the ball aggressively. We are so light on the dline also to stop the run. Not sure we have any answer to improve that side of the ball. Offense will continue to improve with a new system each week. HSU is gonna have their A game so we have 2 weeks to right that ship a bit.

I'm sorry. I know, just call me Homer Simpson, but to not have KJ Miller or Brandon Jordan on the preseason #1 All America team seems like a major... DOH! I mean, the two number ones were vastly outplayed on the biggest stage last year!

For KJ to not even be mentioned anywhere as a WR is a travesty! I...I just have no words!

Oh well, fuel in the fire, another chip on the shoulder, tack another reason to show up and show out. Go CRU!

In one game, the two guys who had the best returning quarterback in the nation throwing to them outplayed Hardy. Understandable.

What receiver vastly outplayed Ruby on the biggest stage last year?
If that is the criteria then they have that qb returning so assume he will target them again. Also the OC was very conservative almost all year until he got behind at HSU and then when he decided to audition for a job at the next level. Go watch Desoto HS offense to see what our new offense will look like. Should be a lot better use of our skill positions. Defense may take a few games to hit their stride with lots of new faces.

They should move Cormier back to LB. Bet he would be a beast on defense. Size, speed and loves contact. All great traits for a great lb.

Can't believe Fritz is not getting a shot.

St Johns was exciting last time we played. Pretty sure they already have a tough schedule so that probably won't happen. Looks like WW it is. Although St Johns Fisher really hated on us last time they were here so maybe we could bring the fight up there.
