Widener 38, Rowan 28
The Profs suffered a season opening loss to cross-river rival, Widener. The atmosphere was great - over 5000 in attendance.
Kudos to the Pride, they were one step ahead of Rowan all game.
The Profs showed up with their same-old conservative "RPO" offense and were flat in the first quarter. Widener's QB found the gaps in the Prof defense and it was the difference in the game (their WR1 had around 13 receptions!).
The Husni era began for the Profs, and he played well. He made a couple of great passes, but also lost a fumble which Widener picked up for a TD. One guy to keep an eye on is Mike Reed who was added to the roster late. He joined from the JUCO ranks and has incredible speed.
One thing that peaves me about D3 football is the spotty officiating - the human element is a great part of this level of the game. I feel like they miss obvious calls or are inconsistent in some cases
It doesnt get much better at the D2 level
Why are you here? JK, but seriously, why are you here? I thought we were done with you...

First, I want to say congratulations to Frostburg for fighting the whole game and never giving up. You guys made great plays a key moments. Connor will be know as Baby Aaron Rogers, he eluded defenders the whole game and made big throws. That 4th down heave was surreal, couldn't believe it. Good Luck in the playoffs. Now regarding my Seagulls, I'm proud of the fight the team played and the coaches did a great job mixing things up this week offensively. We had two costly miscues on Special teams with the muff punt that led to Frostburg 4th TD and the bad snap over the punter head which led to that crazy 4th down pass by Conner. I know someone mentioned the 3rd string QB, IMHO, he should have been started since day 1. Unfortunately he was 3rd string as a Senior and moved to WR for the most of the year. He is more poised to run the offense and much better passer, sadly we had to wait until the final game to realize that. I think we win last week with him at the helm. Although I am upset at yesterday outcome, I think we had the game in our hands multiple times and played like the better team, but you have to seize moments as players and having two costly miscues (on players) on special teams was the difference.

It's way too quiet in here with the all important NJAC championship being played in 24 hours!
It's because we are in the eye of the storm...

What a bunch of BS, we beat Wesley head on and beat Rowan soundly, a team they lose to, we take Frostburg to the wire and lose to Salisbury on a fumble after we blocked their punt to run into the endzone for the win. Last week we received a few votes for top 25, this week none but Wesley receives votes? Along with Cortland? BS

Look, this is the East this year. Everybody is like, two plays away from their season being drastically different.
Wesley, IC, Salisbury, Montclair, Cortland, Union...they've all had narrow losses where flipping the outcome of one play means *they're* in control of a Pool A bid, or the best Pool C team in the East. Likewise, both RPI and Frostburg are a play or two away from being in drastically different spots, instead of getting ready for the NCAAs.
Don't forget CNU -- 6-2 with the 2 losses to SU and Montclair in OT!![]()

probably finish 6-3
Probably. Could have been 7-3 had we played that school in MD that's about to go get schooled in D2.
i wish they would have played, 10-0 is a lot better then 9-0
I'd say 9-1 is better than 8-1.

I guess it's that time of the week, again expecting cloudy skies for our game against the team up 13. This is a very interesting game as Salisbury finally appeared to be clicking offensively (although have room to grow), the defense held strong and played lights out the whole game (except last 2 mins, grrr) last week. However, this week we are facing a team that is going to be the most skilled teamed offensively that we have faced, although I'm not sure the best quarterback. I think if we can get the running game going with the fullback, it will help us offensively and adjust from there. Defensively we can't give up big explosive plays and be sure tacklers, everyone to the ball (haven't had issues all year why start now). With this game being a rivalry game, you never know what to expect. With Wesley being 5-3, not sure if we will have a sold out affair (hopefully), but I do expect Salisbury sideline will be filled. I project the game to be either a 31-23 or 21-16 game in favor of the Gulls. Why not keep your bitter rival down, Why not. In other NJAC games, I expect Frostburg to dominate Kean and get some of their younger guys experience as they prepare for Regents cup and playoffs with the limited roster. I like Montclair over Rowan, I can see 28-13 type game. I think CNU will continue to finish strong with a big showing against TCNJ. I think Southern VA gets another W in their column against William Paterson.
Wesley has shown the inability to stop the run this year, see Frostburg and Rowan games for time of possession differential. If Wesley can not stop the run this will be a long game for them. They will score points, probably miss an extra point, and in the end probably lose a close game. Now, if they can stop the run, which they have been able to do against Salisbury is prior years then this game may not be close. Something is missing this year, not sure what, but it seems to me that the players have just expected to be able to press a button and take over. That did not work this year.

So when Salisbury beats Frostburg and all things remain exactly the same, Montclair should jump Western New England and move ahead of Ithaca?

I just sent in my ERFP, so I thought I would share it and get some discussion started. My #10 pick should stir up the Prince.
1. B-Port
2. Frosty
3. RPI
4. Salisbury
5. Ithaca
6. Montclair
7. Cortland
8. Wesley
9. Del-Val
10. W. Conn
It's all good. Some people just like throwing one away. Clearly you're in that camp. When Framingham puts the boots to them, I'm ok with you putting them at 10. But just say, 'you were right'.
Who would you put as #10? Now be fair.I will have the game in my NJAC Pick E'm contest this week.
You guys are all wacked. Here is the top 10. Don't even argue about it:
1. WConn
2. Salisbury
3. Frosty
4. RPI
5. Cortland
6. Montclair
7. Ithaca
8. Rowan
9. Wesley
10. Brockport
(I may have mixed two teams up by mistake, but this list is final.)
Rowan at #8 and no Del-Val.
1. The results are final. I told you that.
2. I said don't argue about it.
3. I don't consider the MAC teams in my poll.
4. I forgot about Del Val and would have put them at #8 if I remembered them and didn't lie about my 3rd point to cover myself.
5. In all seriousness, this should be a good playoff bracket in the East. I think every team has a shot. Not sure about Del Val to be honest. I don't take a lot of stock in week 1 losses, so they might be able to pull off a big upset as well. RPI will probably play "a good game" but lose to someone much better than them. Frosty and Salisbury will lose by 70 points if they play Mt. Union in the semifinals or quarterfinals, but what the hell do I know, I pretty much only watch games on my computer. But I can tell that Ithaca's linebackers always have the biggest arms and biceps in the country. Those guys are the only guys I can tell a difference in when I watch these games, and that includes a lot of Nescac games (who's teams linebackers and dbacks always appear small)

Not to rub salt in the wound but you can always come watch Frostburg and it's home games
I used to travel that 4 hours to watch Wesley decimate Frostburg. No thanks. Good bye to the top 25 for a while. It was a great run!
