It has been awhile for me on here, but I am starting to wonder if the WIAC is in some trouble for football as a whole. Every school in the conference lost a good amount of money last spring when everything closed now another semester up in the air. Are kids going back to school? Are coaches still getting paid? Can they be in the weight room with the strength coaches? This leaves me with so many questions.

The kids who are really going to get hurt by this are the 2021 recruits. I am sure every WIAC school planned to bring in between 130-160. With none of these kids losing a year of eligibility, the WIAC schools are not going to need more than a 25 man recruiting class. Most year recruiting classes are 55+ for most teams. I really feel for these going to be seniors in high school.

Tuesday Morning Review:

Boy was I wrong on the UWEC game. I was at the game and 72 hours later I am still trying to figure out how they won the football game. I thought they would go with Johnson at QB, but they went with #14. Their QB play will hold them back all year long. I was very impressed with the defense. The DL got pressure on the QB all day long. I still think that UWEC will struggle in the league.

I can not wait for WIAC play finally. I am busy tomorrow so I might give the rundown right now.

UWEC vs UWW- I think UWW will roll here. I just do not see how UWEC will be able to move the ball. They have to have QB play at some point. UWW is much to talented. I think this goes 38-7.

UWRF vs Stevens Point- I think UWRF gets this one. Point misses Herro more than anyone thought they would. I have heard he is out for the year. If that is the case, I think point will struggle all year. Should be a great game in point but Falcon win 31-24.

UWO vs UW-Stout- This game has me torn. I have been high on Stout all year long. This is the strange team for me. Stout has to many weapons on offense with Hammer and McDonald. I watched Kobe 2 weeks ago and was super impressed with him. I might switch this play later in the week, but for now I am going Oshkosh wins 21-20.

GAME of THE WEEK:
UWL vs UWP- This will be the game that I will attend. How does Mike Schmidt handle Coach Emmy. Schmidt has owned him every since he left UWP. UWP has been the most impressive team so far to me this young season. My worry on the defensive side of the football. UWP looks to be back scoring points at will. UWL is a team that I can not figure out. I am curious who will be playing QB for UWL. I just think UWP has to many weapons and find a way to win this think 35-24.

No more "grasping for straws" here. Time to get to work on this weeks plays:

The game that I will attend: UWEC vs UW St Thomas- I mean University of St. Thomas.
This will not be a game. I want to get up and check out another WIAC vs MIAC game. From what I have heard and read, this UWEC struggles to move the football. They have played multiple QB's. St Thomas might win this one by 50. The only saving grace is that UWEC does play good defense. I will be interested to see what this new UWEC offense looks like under the new staff. 52-7

UW Stout at Cal Lutheran- I have no clue why Stout is not better. Bring back a QB who started as a Freshman, get McDonald back and the Levi Hammer kid is a stud. Not sure where their stud RB that was a junior last year is. I think his number was 1 or 5. Stout taking a big trip to Cali needs a win. I just do not think they get it.  Cal L win 28-27

UWP at Lakeland- This will be Ugly from the start. UWP wins in a run away 56-14. UWP is my sleeper team I will go on record saying it again.

Josiah Johnson should have earned the UWEC QB gig by now. He's just been better than Malueg, and if not for some questionable clock management at the end of the St Norbert game, he could be taking a 2-0 team to StT. I might tune this one in on the computer. Won't pick em to win but I think EC competes here.

Stout is still pretty good, even at 0-2. Toe-to-toe with St Johns, and Gustavus Adolphus just isn't gonna get the credit they deserve in that league. Still expect Stout to be better than .500 in WIAC play. I think they win out west.

I got family up in the MSP area. Johnson was at UWRF last year I believe. How often do you see a kid go from WIAC to WIAC school and start?? Very interesting. I would be curious what happened at UWRF. He is not on UWRF roster from last year, but he also is not on UWEC roster from last year. I can do some research on this.

Alright Long Tuesday Morning Post Alert!

I was at Oshkosh this weekend and the Kobe kid impressed me. He is great with his feet and has a decent arm. Game started out slow, but Oskhosk picked it up. Berghammer will be a major issue for this league for years to come. He will make Oshkosh a decent football team with what he can do. I also like the RB's Oshkosh has. I am not as down on UWO as most people are.

UWL- My buddy who follows UWL football thinks that they just flat out benched their starting QB for the senior. Dickson State is a good football team. It will be interesting, they play Waldorf who UWRF lost to next week for a similar opponent. Stock down on UWL this week.

UWRF- Jeff Jones the 4* kid got them like I figured he might. Last second FG. UWRF is again a team I can't figure out.

UWP- I am buying the UWP stock here. Huge win. They will give the league issues.

UWW- Anyone know how serious the QB injury is? What a monster win for UWW to get a win in Chicago for recruiting purposes.

Point- Anyone know how serious the Herro kids injury is? I thought he was a heck of QB as a freshman. Someone said he was hurt. Point Pounded Dakota state last year not sure what happen. Another team can not figure out.

As we get close to rolling to conference play without this weeks games here is how I see this thing finishing
Whitewater
BY A HUGE GAP

UWP
UWO
UWL
UW Stout
UWRF
UWSP
UWEC

Whats everyone else think how this is going to end?

Wednesday Morning Recap.

Man I could not be more wrong about UWL. They have pulled two wins out of their hat. The QB by the numbers does not seem to be playing lights out but I have to give them credit they keep finding a way to win. Two huge wins for the WIAC.

I was up at UWRF for the Bethel game. I was very impressed with UWRF actually for the first half. It came unglued in the second half a bit as Bethels monster QB took over. UWRF's #11 is one heck of a player. He will keep them in games this year. UWRF will have a chance to make a bit of a splash in the league. After watching UWRF and UWL so far, I would say UWL is the more talented of the two teams.

PS what in the world is happening in UWO?? I thought they would finish in top 3 this year. I also thought Stout would end up in the top half of the conference??

Enough of the boring stuff. Now that have a bit of understanding of the league here we go with this week.

UWL vs Dickinson State- These NAIA games can be scary for a D3 team. They do not have the athletes or similar. Dickinson beat UWL last year but I have learned better than to pick against UWL this year. It seems to me, they just have something about them. I think they play road warriors this week and win 27-21

Oshkosh vs Huntingdon- I am going to stay loyal to UWO here. I know some people will call me crazy but they do have a lot of talent. With a freshman QB, it takes some time for everything to get clicking. Huntingdon has been a really good school in the south for awhile now, but this is a game that UWO needs and I think they get it 28-21. This is the game I will be attending. I need to get a personal answer on whats going on.

Pville vs Thomas More- I was just reading online that TM went back to NAIA by choice?? When is the last time this has happened? Thomas More beat them last year 35-28, but I have a feeling about this Pville team. Coach E is a heck of a football coach. I think Pville vs UWL will be for a lot personally. I think they get this one 38-35.

UWRF vs Waldorf- Another NAIA match. Do not know a dang thing about Waldorf. First time UWRF has played them. I saw they have the "Jeff Jones' 5 star Minnesota recruit on their roster. Waldorf in the lower of the NAIA leagues. UWRF gets this one 24-17.

Stevens Point vs Dakota State- Point with a massive win for the WIAC last week over Wabash. Point is a team that I have to figure out as well. I read somewhere they are on their back up QB, but it appears he is playing very well. I did not have high hopes for Point this year but they seem to be playing decent and beat Dakota State last year. Point win 42-21.

Whitewater vs X- Boy this will be the game of the week in my eyes. I do not know a ton of NAIA, but I do know that St X is one heck of a football team. Lost to morningside in the Q finals last year. Interesting they have only played one game up to this point and coming off of a bye week. St. X will not be scared of UWW. This is a massive recruiting game I would think maybe? I am torn on this one. If UWW loses, it would not be the end of the world at all. UWW gets the W 31-21

Without even know it I have WIAC going 6-0 and 5-0 against NAIA teams.

I am a WIAC diehard supporter but wanted to stop over here to get some thoughts. I am heading up to the UWRF vs Bethel this weekend. I pick one game each weekend to go to and this is the one I picked this week. Bethel lost most of their starters from what I am seeing while UWRF retrun most of theirs. It was a 5 point game last year at Bethel I am curious why everyone thinks this one will be a blow out?

Also, I was at the UWL vs CM head game. I thought CM had their chances to win all day long. UWL has one of the top defenses in the WIAC. I was very impressed with how physical CM was in the run game and did not have much trouble with UWL passing attack. They will be a fun team to follow this year! Thanks everyone!
14 and a half points isn't a blowout around the MIAC, that's a close game.  River Falls did play Bethel tough last year, but that might have been their best game of the year.  They couldn't compete with anyone in the WIAC except Stout and Eau Claire.

I could be wrong but looking at the starters on Bethel DL they are no bigger than 235 pounds. UWRF goes 285 across the front. It would also be a fair statement that Bethel is not playing Simpson again. I think it will be one heck of a football game thats why I am heading up to check it out. I do not even count UWRF win vs Morris. I am just going off of last year box score and what each team is return. I see this being a 7 point game either way and right now I am leaning that in the end UWRF will wear that DL out. I could be wrong but we will see Saturday!

Two things to note.

1. Bethel was still finding their way week 2 last year. It was Roste's first game as a starter and the offense was still figuring out how to play to his strengths. If the two teams had played a month later, it wouldn't have been that close of a game.

2. Bethel's D line isn't huge, but they are very athletic. Especially Max Janes, 93 (transfer from Minn who played on all their special teams last year, unfortunately for us since it burned a year of eligibility). A line averaging 283 isn't new for Bethel. That's what we usually see from Concordia, UST, SJU, etc. I actually think we'll hold up just fine.

After watching Simpson last week and the video of UWRF vs. Morris (first half only) I think Bethel's in a much better position. UWRF is unorthodox up front, with multiple standing dlinemen. But it's to cover for their lack of size. I think Bethel moves the ball pretty well on them. The other major advantage, Bethel faced a quality opponent week one. They were pushed a lot harder than UWRF and learned a lot more about their team from it.

I think the spread is pretty good. Barring weird injuries for either team.

I would agree with you that Bethel has been small up front. I also noticed a couple new starters up front for Bethel offense and a center that is only 240?. I will be interested to see how they handle the weird defense from UWRF that tries to create confusion. I have heard of the Max Janes kid before. Saw he even got some carries in the box score. Like I have said before I am not a UWRF fan just a WIAC supporter. Everyone in the league has been waiting for UWRF to take the next step for the past 5 years and I think this would be a game they could take a step in the right direction. Don't get me wrong it is going to be one heck of a game. The Roste kid is heck of a player I saw him in the playoff game against Whitewater.

Welcome to the better side of the St. Croix, Brad! If, you mean by blow-out, that Bethel wins by at least two touchdowns, then yes, it could be a blow-out. Bethel pretty much chewed up Simpson last week. I know that River Falls won handedly at Minneosta-Morris, 45 to 7, last week. Bethel is no Minnesota-Morris. There is a reason they are still ranked 10th in the country. It will be a good hard fought game, but I would be very surprised if it is close.

Here we go with week 2. Great work by the WIAC in week one. Lets see what we can do in week two!

First up:
UWW vs CM- I was not impressed with CM offense Saturday against UWL. Now I do think that UWL has a legit defense. I will be interested on how UWW continues to handle the QB rotations. I just do not see this being a game. UWW 38-7.

UWO vs Salisbury- I do not know one thing about Salisbury so this will be a total bias WIAC pick. UWO wins 42-10

UWEC vs St. Norberts- Reading through the box score from UWEC and reading about UWEC offense, it does not look like they did much. They had 6 plays for over 200 yards other than that they did not have much to them. The QB play looks shaky for UWEC. UWEC plays some very good defense and after seeing Norbs giving up 50 last week I would think UWEC wins this 28-14

UW Stout vs Gustie- Stout was the most impressive WIAC week 1. They have weapons on the outside. Gustie was not tested week one by playing Martin Luther. Stout should handle this one 31-14.

Stevens Point vs Wabash- Point is the one team that I know very little about. If someone on this board could fill me or us in that would be great. Wabash in the past has been a good football team. It was a decent game last year. I think Wabash pulls an upset here 28-24

Game of the week #1
UWL vs IW- We have a top 25 preseason match up in La Crosse. It was a great game last year with UWL coming out on top. I have heard that IW has returned their top WR and QB from last year. UWL did not impress me on offense last Saturday. I am expecting a low scoring game going to IW with a score of 21-14.

Game of the week #2
UWRF vs Bethel: This would be a huge step for UWRF to have a chance at a top 15 program. I have been waiting for them to take a step for 5 years now. Bethel pounded Simpson last week 42-10. UWRF pounded UMM who is awful. Home opener for UWRF in a program game I think they turn the corner 28-17. This will be the game I attend this weekend. (wife works weekends so can drive where ever I want to catch a game  ;D )

Best of luck to WIAC this week!

I was at the UWL game vs CM. What a good game it was. UWL defense is legit good. Offensively they struggled to say the least. They switched to a senior QB mid way through the third who lead them to a TD drive and played one more series and was pulled. Concorida had their chances to win this football game. UWL started one or two freshman on the OL. Should be interesting to see how they look the rest of the way.

What's the scoop on UWRF? Not much to glean from their expected beatdown of MN Morris.

Bethel is breaking in some new players on D, but they looked solid week 1. We lost our stud corner mid-way through Saturday to a really gruesome finger injury. I'd be surprised if he could play Saturday, and Tavian is really good.

If Roste is connecting on things in the passing game the offense really rolls. Once he hit his stride against Simpson (who I think is pretty solid this year) the game just broke open.
I have been waiting for UWRF to break out the past few years. I love their big WR. He is a nightmare problem. Defensively they are small would be my worry against what appears to be a big Bethel team. UWRF at home in a program changing game, I bet they come out fired up. My upset pick of the week is UWRF to knock off Bethel in what will be a great game as it was last year.

College Football season is back and so am I! Here are my predictions for the week.

Point vs JC= I don't see this one being close. Point is the one team that I can not figure out which direction they are going. I see JC winning this one 38-7
UWEC vs Loras= I am excited to see what this new offense looks like for UWEC. They do not have a QB on roster over a sophomore. I have seen Loras play and that is a tough one. I think Loras wins 24-20.
UWRF vs Morris= Morris is no good. UWRF was not great last year and won 41-0. I see more of the same here with returning most of everyone UWRF wins 48-7.
Pville vs East Texas B= I do not know much about ETB but they can score the ball. Coming to Wisconsin is tough. I think Pville gets this one 42-38
Stout vs St John's= I am curious on this game. I think Stout is much improved. I just do not think they can knock off St. Johns. St. Johns should be in the convo to win the whole damn thing this year. That QB is incredible. St. Johns win 35-3
Whitewater vs Dubq= I do not think this will be a game. Whitewater is a machine. Whitewater wins 45-14
Oshkosh vs Carthage= Oshkosh will figure it out this year. I think Whitewater vs Oshkosh for all the marbles this year. Oshkosh starts this right 31-14.
Game of the week. UWL vs Concorida- This is the game I am going too. I am excited to see how Mike Schmidt handles running the offense. I am also interested to see how UWL handles the option attack. I think Concorida gets them 24-17.

I have the WIAC as 3-5 for opening weekend with the possibility of getting to 5-3 with UWL and UWEC winnings.

Been awhile for me on here. This topic is very interesting to me. It's a bad look on UWL for sure and the league. There are different topics here, the leaking of the UWW stuff along with firing a coach in season for it appears not to be much documented. Does anyone think the school or league will step in on this, or is it just a big story with nothing to it?

What happened to Herink? It appears he started, as did Beckham. Did they get hurt?

Lay off the "morons". You're paying nothing for them.

I was at the UWRF vs UWL game. I went because I thought it was going to be a heck of a game. Beckman got ejected for 2 unsportsmanlike early in the third Q. The backup Q came in the first play and got a safety. That is when it all started to come undone for UWRF. Herink had to be targeted 10 times, but UWL DB's did a nice job being physical with him and not letting him get over the top it looked like. I was not overall impressed with either team. Mike Schmidt got a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty for taunting the UWRF bench which I thought was interesting. It was a game filled with flags and dumb decisions. I think UWL team last year was much better than this year, while UWRF still is working through how to break through. I think their is a chance these two will be fighting for 3rd or 4th going forward in the coming years.
