Quote from: NescacNewbie on May 01, 2024, 03:09:45 PMJust saw that Trinity is pulling in 29 new 2028 players? Looks like there will be a lot of cuts to get to the roster number!

What's the roster limit? The Bants had a 102 on the roster last year

Attended the Wes/Midd game on Saturday and the lack of athleticism by Midd was easily noticeable.  Midd had no answers for Wes and their athletic QB who pretty much did whatever he wanted to do. I agree that Wes dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides.

Isn't Bowdoin best compared to Midd?
Academic twins.  Far from the real world, geographically.
Midd has made a lot more investment in sports than Bowdoin in recent years.
Other than men's hockey, Midd's results since building the new sports center have been pretty good.

BTW, I agree with Lumbercat regarding admissions and success.
Our women's lacrosse coach came from being head coach at Trinity.  Her first year of recruiting was, um, a surprise.
In the end however, we all have to deal with the reality of the Williams and Amherst brands being SO strong.

And Coach Livesay is 80-10 with 2 national championships and a runner up in her 4 years at Midd. Picked right up from what she was doing at Trin. Exceptional coach who is an even better person.

Attended the Midd-Trin game last night, first half was up and down with both teams having stretches of good play. Trin was definitely trying to defend to the three point line and did a very effective job throughout the game. (5-26) Padmore was a tough match up for the Panthers especially in the first half. Eastman led the Panthers in second half and really kept them in the game while Donovan hit some huge shots down the stretch as Seretta, playing with a facemask, came up with some big offensive rebounds and put backs to lead the Bants. Just love the contrast in coaching styles.

Congrats to Middlebury on their NESCAC championship and a 9-0 season. I never saw this coming especially after watching the Trinity-Middlebury game last year, a 48-0 ass kicking but the Panthers came out strong and beat Williams and the Bants, two of the first three games this season to get the ball rolling and proved on the field who the best team in the CAC is for 2019. A great job by Ritter and his staff.

A nice video from a local news spot highlighting Andrus Field as the oldest continuously used football field in the country.
Here's a great still shot from the video:

Congrats on the upcoming addition to your family!! No poop in the Coop!!

That is truly mesmerizing.  Remind us relative newbies whan that was and how it affected the game.

It was the 7th game of the 2003 season, and the first time Trinity had trailed in a game all season. The Jeffs had the momentum with a 14-6 lead late into the 3rd quarter. The Bantam defense only allowed 30 points during the entire '03 season so things were tense on the Trinity sideline as the offense hadn't been able to move the ball very much all game.

The Jeff punter shanked the kick and, as you can see, several Amherst players neglected to down the ball. The ensuing two point conversion tied the game and Trinity took the lead for good in the fourth quarter and held on to win.

The following week Trin destroyed Wesleyan 53-0 to cap the first undefeated season since 1993. Trin would go undefeated the following two seasons as well.

Great memories for #13! Hopefully the Bants can end their 5 game skid at Pratt. Going to need much improved special teams and offensive line play to get it done.

Trin 8-0
Good time for the gif. It's been a while, let it fly.

Well, since you asked... ;)

I wonder, now that the home team is along that near sideline on Pratt Field, if the referee would still be as patient with the whistle.

I'll bet you, I've watched this gif at least a thousand times over the years.

The Trinity plans look terrific.   Is it possible for these stadiums to be built without taking away the character of the spectator experience?  I feel like the Amherst stadium is very pretty and efficient but as a fan it frankly leaves me beyond cold. I understand why - they needed to build a track on the inside of the stadium rather than the formerly inept outside of the stadium track, but it still feels hollow.

A common complaint heard at the Coop. Since the track was redone, fans have to stay outside the track. Some fans are allowed on the ends but the atmosphere isn't quite the same since the fans got pushed away from the field.

If you look at the O-Line at Trinity, there are two seniors, Baiardi has been nicked up this year and is an All NESCAC player. All the other lineman are FYs and Sophomores. There are no juniors on the offensive line as that recruiting class was primarily skill players. The O-Line is a problem this year and it's mostly because of lack of experience and time in the weight room.

Impressive performance by the Panthers. After Wesleyan scored to make it 7-3, it's been all Middlebury.
