First met Coach Azz at Rutgers during the NJ High school 7 on 7 games. He's the reason for my son playing at Wesley. I remember showing up at the practice fields behind Rutgers Stadium after work and parents were coming up to me telling that a coach from Wesley College wants to talk to you. Coaches from the D-1 schools were there but Coach Azz was right in there with them. Introduced himself to me, handed me his business card, even stuck around after the 7 on 7 tournament to meet my son. Real great guy and wish him all the best. Was always there for me with any questions and concerns whether it was school related or football related. Him and Coach Drass were my main go to coaches for all the info I needed.
As for him leaving I'm not surprised at all, first time I heard anything about it was during the Rowan game back in. 2018 but didn't really think that much of it due to the situation surrounding the team with Coach Drass passing away. Then back in November of 2019 it came up again about Coach Azz leaving. I'm happy for him though, great guy and friend, looking forward to seeing what he does with DSU

Well 4 years of playing football at Wesley has come to an end for my son. Played his final game at linebacker, a position he's never played in his life and led the team in tackles, still think he should have stayed at Safety. Now time to represent Wesley in Ft. Worth Texas in January. Also a huge s/o to the Del Val coaches who pulled my son to the side and talked to him. It's usually just a hand shake and a "good game" comment but these coaches went above and beyond that. My son appreciated that and I appreciate it even more that they knew who he was, not just a player on Wesley.
Been a fun 4 years, I'll still be going to the games just wish the ending would have turned out differently. Big s/o to Coach Azz for getting my son to Wesley and of course Coach Drass for helping and preparing the transition from high school to college. Freshman year - How was camp?  Coach Drass is crazy!!! Lol! Wonder how this team would do under Drass and his discipline?

Coach Greco and staff are about the classiest group of coaches you'll find at any level in any sport. I'm glad they reached out to your son. he is quite the player by the way!!
Yes very classy move and good luck to Del Val this Saturday!

That Endicott game had all the makings of an upset for Wesley. 3rd straight game on the road right after the huge win at Del Val that went in to 4 OTs. The Salisbury game was 3 weeks away but I remember players talking about that game like it was the next one on the schedule. I'm thinking to myself, you have a bye week, then Rowan at home followed by the game at Salisbury but before any of those games they still had to play this one and when Endicott jumped out to a 14 -0 lead I was like here we go, their heads aren't in this game. Not taking anything away from Endicott but Wesley really was not focused on that game at all.

Well I had a great time on the field with the Seniors and the other parents and at the post game game party. Thank you to all the Seniors.
Also congratulations to the team for making it back to the playoffs after a down year last year.
Now about the QBs, I just have a feeling Mullin will start Saturday, just my opinion. The players and coaches spoke very highly of Fry, he's definitely the future of Wesley but right now he's also still learning. Like that 20 yard TD pass to Simpson. I asked about that play because I said it looked like both receivers were going to collide with each other in the endzone Simpson said he just ran underneath the ball and came down with it. While it was a TD it was the wrong read, Simpson just made the adjustment in his route. This is the learning phase for Fry but then on the other hand he throws a 49 yd TD pass to Simpson and does everything right. In the playoffs we won't be facing TCNJ, CNU or Willie P so do we go with Freshman that's still learning or with Mullin and Morroco and hope they can move the ball ??
I prefer Fry based on what I saw yesterday. Man can sling it. He made throws that neither Mullin or Marrocco can make. He also showed some good judgement in pulling down and running for a first down on one occasion. Also something we have not seen in 10 weeks. Which touchdown are you referring to? The 49 yard pass had Simpson and Peele right next to each other. Fry rolled out on the 20 yarder and seemed to hit Simpson right where he wanted him.  I dont think that was a bad read at least from what it seemed.
Got my plays crossed. My mistake. It was on the 49 yd TD pass. The main receiver on that play was Simpson but he was supposed to run a fly route and cut out but when he turned his head he saw where the ball was heading and stayed underneath it which was the reason for him and Peele almost colliding. Even Coach Azz joined the conversation and told Simpson joking around...I said go out...out..out. We all laughed about it but again these are the little things Fry will understand with more reps.

Wesley is up 24 - 7 in the 4th qtr but this team has been sleep walking through this game.
They should be playing with urgency. The only way you get to the playoffs is if you win out and go 9-1. Mullin had a horrid first half. IF this team does make the playoffs, the first game will be a fight, but perhaps so will Kean and CNU.

Very lack luster performance today. I've only been to a couple of games this year so I made sure to get to this one. TCNJ was definitely in spoiler mode and it wasn't until they scored that Wesley woke up somewhat. I went as far to tell my son that if you guys played like this against Del Val or Endicott you lose both of those games. Also mentioned about Coach Knapp clapping his hands and yelling Let's Go!! For the team to take the field. I don't care if the team they're playing is 2-5 or 7-0 you bring that same intensity for every game. Right now Wesley shouldn't even think about playoffs, Kean is next then CNU. Anything can happen in these next 2 games especially with a team playing spoiler.

Great article by Sean Greene about Isiah Mitchell. Talks about his fight with adversity after losing his parents in a car accident and how he has persevered with the help of his grandmother, and his brother Anthony. Mitchell also speaks briefly about Coach Knapp in the article in a way that I had not considered when referencing Chip's son Ben and the passing of Mike Drass.

QuoteWhen I heard the story about Ben, it melted my heart a little bit. Just to see what [Chip's] been through, and also losing his best friend but still fighting, just like I did fighting along with my grandmother, it just showed I can trust him as a man, I can trust him with my future because he's shown he fights as well and gets the job done.
Isiah is a great person, him and my son close friends both on and off the field. Thanks for the article

Rowan played tough to the end.  Feel bad for the Rowan lineman who had a really bad leg injury.  I hope he does well in his recovery.  Wesley's defense saves the day once again having to compensate for offensive miscues. Two goal line stands to go with the win.  The game would have been more in Wesley's  favor if the offense didn't fumble the ball into their own endzone gifting a TD to Rowan in the 4th.  Got to see Joe Callahan after the game which as a treat.

Need to stick with Mullin to get stability into the offense.

Callahan sat right behind me during the game.
My son told me about the Rowan players leg, said during the tackle he heard it break twice that was the reason he ran off the field calling for the Medical trainer.
Hoping for a speedy recovery for the young man
Pryce Bouchard was the injured player and suffered a dislocated ankle. During the radio coaches show last night, Coach Accorsi mentioned that Wesley's President visited the Bouchard in the hospital. A lot of respect from Prof Nation for this gesture, Wesley is a top class group.

I'm hoping Bouchard has a speedy recovery. He's a rare out-of-state recruit who jumped a lot of experienced guys to start at center. Hope he returns next season.
Thanks for the update. Hoping for a speedy recovery for the young man

Can any Wesley fans post the 2 deep depth chart? I want to start taking a look at Rowan's next opponent  8-)
Had no idea that Rowan also had a bye. So far I have not seen any game notes from any of Wesley's 3 games... but here was the starting lineup for the Endicott game.

               OFFENSE                                          DEFENSE
QB: Dave Marrocco/Jon Mullin                 DE: Tommy Tanner, Shymere Vessels
WR: Ruhann Peele, Mike Credle               DT: Nick Glover, Rock Hunter
TB: Abe Mansaray                                 SAM: Jalund Johnson
RT: Andrew Risper                                WILL: Dante Daniel
RG: Ty-Key Moore                                 ROV: Mike Brewer
C: Greggory Clark                                 CB: Isiah Mitchell, Myles James
LT: Brandon Bradford                             FS: Marcus Gaspard
LG: Josh Hughes                                   SS: Coray Williams
TE: Rick Hess
Slot: Corterris Simpson
Thank you thewaterboy.  Why is Mansaray starting over EJ Lee?  I was looking at the roster breakdown today.  Impressive recruiting; the Wolverines have players from a number of states including a large contingent from Rowan's backyard, NJ. MD and NJ account for ~50% of the roster, each at around 25%. By contrast, Rowan's roster is roughly 95% from NJ.
Mansaray was starting over Lee as a  precautionary measure

Wesley vs Albright scrimmage.
Some safety for Wesley had 3 INTs, one for a 90 yd return. l have all 3 videos but I guess you can't post them here. The one on the TD looked more like a punt return or kick return. I have no idea who or where the Albright QB was throwing the ball to and why it was so high in the air like that.
Wesley looked good on both sides of the ball but the back ups need as much work as they can get right now. This scrimmage could have easily gotten out of hand but the back ups were in a lot which makes the score seem closer than what actually happened on the field

Any word on the Wesley QB situation?  Does anyone know when the scrimmage is?
Thursday vs Albright @ Albright
Nice. That should be a good way to gain insight on the Wesley QB situation. I do not know much and I can only speculate.... but, if I had to guess, right now Mullin and Marrocco are the frontrunners for the job. I would not be surprised to see on of the upperclassmen get the nod early on in the season, and they will have to play well to keep it. Marrocco did not really impress me in the ECAC game against Westminster. He was 4-9 for 50 yards, and 35 of them came on a play where he threw up a wobbler that was very underthrown, and Alex Kemp made a great adjustment to catch the ball.

Everyone is talking about freshman Drew Fry too... so there's that.
I would ask my son but he doesn't like talking about the players on the team. He tells me what he thinks, but the final say will come from the coaches. He did tell me the camp/preseason camp has been one of the hardest in his 4 years at Wesley, that's all he would really tell me
Hardest in what way?
I had asked him how camp was going and he said it's hard, harder than normal and mentioned something about it being different but he never went in to detail
