Thanks.  I was thinking when McMurry returned to D3 from D2 sports, there were several years when we were on "probation" meaning no post-season play.  The UMHB-HSU game two weekends from now should be a "must win" for each team.

The NCAA page says that UMHB got two years probation (among other things) as a result of the rules infraction.  Does that mean that UMHB football becomes ineligible to compete in the postseason for the next two years, or what?  What, exactly, does "probation" entail?

What does the HSU loss to TLU do for HSU's playoff hopes?  Assuming UMHB beats everybody in the conference, it goes automatically to the playoffs.  But if the ASC were to get an at-large bid, unless TLU loses to someone besides UMHB, wouldn't it get it rather than HSU?  I would think for HSU to get in, they have to hope TLU gets upset by someone, or if that doesn't happen, they have to beat UMHB.  Anything can happen, but the chances of either of these things happening seems rather slim to me.  Could HSU get a bid over TLU even with the loss to them?

Hey, you guys at HSU just destroyed us at McMurry yesterday, but I have to agree you got screwed with the post-season selection.  The NCAA saves money by not having to fly you somewhere (like Linfield), but this is just like another conference game.  Post season should mean playing other teams outside the area, not same-old, same-old.

Congratulations on a great game, ETBU, even though you couldn't pull off the upset.  You really gave the Knights a run for their money.

Note that Coach Rainbolt assisted at McMurry before moving on to Concordia and ETBU.  We're one big family in the ASC!

ETBU beats St. Thomas in overtime!  The announcers on the video feed kept calling them the "Cinderella team."  They apparently couldn't believe a team from our lowly ASC could beat mighty St. Thomas.  Good luck in the next game tomorrow...

How do you say "hello" through the video feed?   ;D

I notice ETBU has made it to the sweet 16 -- the last of our men's and women's teams from the ASC in the post-season.  The schedule says they play St. Thomas next.  Do we know where and at what time?

The last I heard, we hoped to be in the NCCAA postseason.  Right now, everyone is just concentrating on the rematch with HSU.  It should be a good game; we beat them before, but on our court and with their top scorer not playing because she was sick.  This Saturday, it will be their court with (the flu willing) their full team.  And in a cross-town rivalry march, you can throw the standings out the window!

One game to go for our McMurry women, the women War Hawks, formerly the LIB, formerly the Lady Indians... finally getting back into it in DIII.  It should rock next Saturday at HSU, the last game of the season for both teams.  No matter that we can't advance into the conference tournament, but this is our final year on probation since returning to DIII.  Next year should be real fun, if we can build on this year's results!

Interesting...

Coach Carse has announced his retirement at HSU.  What happens next?  This year was about the seniors; what are the other players like?  And are there plans for a transition to a new coach, or will they do a search?

You're right, Whitman.  Whitworth came to Texas several years ago for a post-season sectional in Belton, and ended up victorious.  I notice both Whitman and HSU hosted last week, so they had the audience on their side.  This game will be in neutral territory, which will make it more interesting.

HSU is in the sweet 16, but there sure don't seem to be many HSU fans on this board.  It looks like the real challenge comes next, against the #1 ranked D3 team in the country, Whitworth.  What does HSU have to do to beat these guys?
