Coach Mitchell can coach
Really?  Hope staged a nice comeback but, once again when it counted the most in the final minute, very indecisive regarding clock management.  Let the clock run or foul quickly would seem the two options available.  The decision was to run the shot clock half way down and then foul.  Bet they would like to have those 14 seconds back.
Coach Mitchell has good offense, but no players to run it. When he was successful in the MIAA his first few years, he had great players. But it seems he hasn't put in any effort to replace them. He was lucky to have Jason Beckman transfer to Hope

Hot Garbage

When is the last time hope had 7 conference losses?? Maybe they should hire Matt Neil to recruit players and Coach Mitchell can coach

Muller rumored to have a knee injury in practice. Didn't hear if surgery is needed

Best Hope performance I've seen in a while

Not that it would have mattered much in today's game, but Hope HAS to find a way to get that ball in the hoop from beyond the three point line. George started the game with a three and that was the only one that went in for the Dutchman (disregarding two garbage time threes they were 1-14 today. Against Olivet they were 2-11). The worst part is that they really aren't even getting open looks from three. Its very odd, because Hope has always found success from downtown. (No Riley definitely hurts)

At this point, Granger is really the only player that contributed meaningful minutes last year. Hope is young and looks the part. They show moments of promise but it is very much one step forward, two steps back. Even against Olivet they had some head scratching moments. I really hope Mitchell continues to play the young guys more (Swinehart and Hartmann especially). It will only pay off in the long run.

From my son who shared this with me... Riley Lewis has posted an interesting photo on Instagram. For those that do that kind of stuff (im too old) here is the link
https://www.instagram.com/p/B6oAsnFjEYB/

I will c/p his caption...

"I always told myself I wouldn't let them take me for my soul. It finally got to be too much, and I had to make a tough decision. I felt disrespected not only as a basketball player but as a man, constantly being told to get away from "the way I was raised" and such. I want to thank my teammates first for ALWAYS supporting me, they know if they ever need anything I'll be here, always. I want to thank the fans and everybody who has showed me love throughout my career. It was a hell of a journey and I'll always ride with the people that have been riding with me! 22 signing off..."

Picking up on something sac tweeted, it's rather bizarre the Holland Sentinel did not even mention the Riley Lewis situation at all in its story on the game last night -- https://www.hollandsentinel.com/news/20191227/granger-scores-27-hope-outlasts-westminster.  Lewis started Hope's first 7 games, and played in all 9 before last night.  Wouldn't you have to say something in the article?

Also seems odd Lewis has been removed from all of the season stats - https://athletics.hope.edu/sports/mbkb/2019-20/teams/hope. Doesn't that mess up all of the season totals, etc?
honestly, the Sentinel probably didn't even notice

Hope you like it hot... Ignoring what happened in 2013, Hope would be better if Matt Neil was still the coach

Decent start to the season for Hope.

I thought they lost their composure at the end of the first half. Rushed shots and poor rotation on defense. Need to become a better rebounding team. A team where you really miss a TJ VK

Very impressed with the youngsta's  ;D George, Thomas, and Dykhouse seem like a solid core for the future. Granger was his typical self. Riley Lewis' size hurt him again with trying to find shots but expect him to be a threat all year. Gamm was very solid, but probably need some more height and length at the five spot. I expect Vree to get a lot of time (I think he is hurt?).

Hope is probably a year away from being really good. It was nice to finally see some height on the wing with Thomas.

Calvin search is apparently down to two. A high school coach and a D3 coach
Yep.  Heard as well that Bill Sall to Calvin won't be happening.  That's too bad.
Maybe it's time to suspend the search and find a new AD first.
You really want to discuss this, let this statement stand? I recommend you delete it.
So we aren't allowed to make friendly jokes on the board?

Or maybe Timmer could be the 3rd finalist for the hoops job ;D

@sac  There was word of a big name transfer to Hope.  Is this still happening?  Was that the "great" news?  If it is, size shouldn't be much of a concern for Hope
Great news was Evan Thomas. And no it's not happening
