ColbyFootball- I'm not sure how transparent Coach Devanney is with his recruits about this. I'm assuming that the more honest you are to a kid who may take some time to see the field, the more his chances of committing might take a hit. Kids want to play. I do know that a few upperclassmen are cut every year, obviously related to their perennially large freshman classes. The coaching staff wants to see kids develop. While I like the idea of keeping the 75 best football players regardless of grade, I agree with you that it needs to be explicitly stated during the recruiting process that you have to compete for your spot every year. Each Trin recruiting class is usually whittled down to under 15 or 20 by the time they get to senior year- either kids are cut, or they quit because they realize getting meaningful playing time is a lost cause. My guess is that you won't see this entire group in uniform for the first game.

So sad that Wesleyan has a terrific season, yet the first thing their posters do is attack a middle of the pack Trinity team. Unfortunate for coach Dice that his name has to be attached to that. Celebrate your own players!

Three non-graduation losses for Trinity. Anthony Kelley and Francis Uzorh are not enrolled this year (don't know why), and 6'9" Jared Whitt tore his ACL in the preseason. The Bantams should still be improved as they return a strong senior class, but all three of these guys began to get pretty solid minutes last year, especially Kelley (buzzer beater to beat Colby) and Whitt. This hurts given that Coach Cosgrove frequently likes to rotate 10 or so guys in and out.

LOL I posted this in the NEWMAC board earlier....I was wondering why the confuse responses
Tufts vs Williams "game of the week" (according to NBN)
https://nothingbutnescac.com
I'm only worried about the "high from the Trinity win" and "0-2 is a death sentence" in the prediction below
Although I'm not sure if the writer/staff understands the injury situation with Williams
Predictions:
Tufts @ Williams, 1:30pm, Williamstown, MA
I'll keep this one short because it's our Game of the Week, but no one could have predicted Tufts to knock off the three-time defending champions in Week 1. What an awesome feeling that must have been for first-year starter in senior Jacob Carroll, who waited his turn behind Ryan McDonald and finally got his chance on the big stage. Tufts has everything going for them heading into Williamstown, but my gut tells me the high from beating Trinity won't last past Saturday. After stumbling on their own feet against Middlebury, Williams knows this game is a must win. Starting the season 0-2 is essentially a death sentence, so expect Maimaron, Frank Stola and co. to set the tone early and grind out some yards against a solid Jumbos defensive front.
Also shoutout to OJ Armstrong for the Jumbos, Go Raiders*
MK: Williams 20-13
RM: Williams 23-17
SS: Tufts 17-7
HC: Williams 30-24
CC: Williams 24-16
Writers' Pick: Williams
NBN are definitely "NARPs"...ITH might be a NARP too...
We are not...which is why we are almost always right with our picks...the smart money is on the Jumbo's...the ghost of the HCOF will haunt Farley-Lamb Field forever...
BTW, RIP Coach Renzie Lamb...one of the top characters of all-time in NESCAC athletics...it was an honor to be his friend (he grew up on Long Island with a NESCACMAN committee member's Dad)...
Looks like NARPs must know a little more than you...your "smart money" just lost 44-8. Great pick NESCACman!

Bates and Amherst wear UA, everyone else currently wears Nike (including Colby, but their coaches wear Adidas)

NESCAC football fans-
I am a current student at a NESCAC school and a longtime football follower. I do not play on my school's team, but I am posting to inquire about any possible opportunities to do game writeups, previews, blog posts, player profiles, or any other sort of game-related writing for NESCAC football teams. I am not asking to be paid, but I would like to get some writing-related experience on my resume before I apply for internships next summer. I have followed NESCAC football since entering college, and I know that football would be something I would be able to write passionately about. If anyone knows of a website, blog or newspaper that I could write for, please let me know. I am most familiar with NESCAC football, but I would also be open to writing about other sports (baseball, basketball, golf, etc) if the opportunity arises. I could provide a writing sample if necessary. Thank you!
