Midwest Region / Re: LMC -- Lake Michigan Conference
February 21, 2006, 11:07:40 AM
Elfering graduated last year from the team.  Played his first two years, but ran into shoulder problems his last two and saw limited action.

No question the WIAC is one of the better conferences in the nation, especially when compared to the LMC, however, Plucinksi lost some velocity later in his career because they overused him at Lakeland.  Had he gone to UWO or UWW right out of high school, he may have been drafted because he probably wouldn't have been a two-way player.  He was tough coming out of high school and one of the best pitched games I've ever saw was when Lakeland went to the Series in 2002, and he pitched the opening game against RSW and lost 2-1.  Scouts had him clocked at 92 that game in the seventh inning.

Heinemeyer is a nice ball player along with Schmidt who should start again back in the outfield.  I think they may have had a pitcher come back as well.  They will miss Plucinski, who wasted his last year of eligibility at UWO.  Lakeland should be back into the mix of things, but they need some more depth at pitching.  I know they had their catcher see some innings on the mound last year, and that isn't the best scenario they can ask for this year.  Concordia should be competetive, but I still think Edgewood is still the team that everyone will chase throughout the conference season.

Hey Brizo, heard you were the guy that sang the national anthem, is this true?  God I hope not cause that guy sounded like he had a pile of crap in his mouth.  If I were him, I wouldn't quit my day job of picking corn and watching my girlfriend get fatter and fatter eating all of it.

Anyways, to the game...I didn't get a chance to see the entire game on webcast (Which by the way wasn't all that great, (give technology another year, and it will be like watching it on cable)But I bet you guys were pooping bricks at halftime when Edgewood was still in the game.  The story of the second half was the dismal shooting.  (29% from the floor in the second half)  May have attributed to your defense, may have just been our shooters went cold...in any case Dick Bruiseface Blaska went out in grand style having one of his best games of his career. In any case, Congrads seniors on great careers, it was fun watching you guys over the last four years as I retire from the scorers table.

They took off this morning, probably made their way into your side of the country at about 2 or 3 this afternoon.  May have had a practice tonite, and will most likely have a shoot around tomorrow morning for sure.  Whatever team wins will have to get to an airport and fly out to Washington tomorrow night.

Hey, Edgewood gave it a good run.  Within 2 with about 11 minutes to go I hear...not too bad, ended up on the short side 70-59 at Stout.  Congrads girls on a great year, I'll be checking in from time to time in the future as I retire from the scorer's table.

You know they probably look at just the regular season numbers, but the selection for all-conference comes after the tournament, so you don't think those coaches have tournament performance in the back of their mind?  I agree, the selection process should take place after the regular season.  Plus it makes it more interesting come conference tourney time to raz the guys that get all-conference

Ohhhhh Pretty Kev didn't get the nod for the POY, brings a tear to my eye.  That a boy Coop.

Here is something I don't understand...why in the world is Kris Saiberlich on the all LMC team, but Averkamp is the Rookie of the Year and only on honorable mention??  That makes no sense.  Averkamp has some of the best numbers in the conference.  Peets gets the nod ahead of Charlie??  Come on, what is going on here?  Maranatha didn't get a win in conference all  year and they have equal representation in the all LMC and honorable mention as MSOE and Marian.  Again, makes no sense.  But whatever, Edgewood sweeps the big awards for this season, good to see, good to see.

Well Stat boy, that's fine, cause I am done.  Officially hung up the mic tonite as both the men and the women took home the tourney titles moving on to the NCAA Regional.

Great atmosphere at the dome tonite.  Lakeland brought half the college down to Madtown.  Loudest women's game I've ever been at.  Props go to Katie Hensgen, the lone senior on the team who finally got to the tournament after four hard years of work.

Close game in the second half, both teams played their hearts out.  What you would expect from a conference tournament championship game.  I do believe the better team won tonite as they beat Lakeland all three times this year.  Props go out to first year head coach Bobbi Endress.  She locked up her Coach of the Year honors in the LMC.

Selection Sunday is tomorrow.

Was pretty impressed with Maranatha's run they had in the tourney...they had Edgewood on the ropes all game.  Kittoe came to play in the second half dropping 20 including 4 threes.  Rematch of last year's tourney championship only this time its at the dome.

My prediction...

Well I think you'll be wrong on both sides there fish...EC was flat tonite, but still won by 20.  They will be on all cylinders tomorrow nite...downing my future ex wife and the rest of the Crusader crowd in a 70-61 win.  LC will down the nurses, and it will be a classic Lakeland Edgewood showdown next weekend...

Oh yea, me and Biz go way back to the evangelical grade school basketball court.  He was a little upset with me on deciding to go to the public school after my eighth grade graduation.  We played against each other in high school and he dominated me when he played D-Line and I was QB.  We see each other out downtown Appleton from time to time.

Yea I was too scared to ask Bond to the V-Day game at the REX.  I might just send her flowers instead.  I think I have a new crush now, the Concordia women's head coach.  Not a bad looking gal.  Maybe I'll send her some flowers too.  Oh yea Edgewood won tonite, big.  They win one on Saturday against Alverno, they'll clinch a share of the conference title.

Yea, I'll tend to wander over on this side of the board from time to time.  So my girl had a good one against Lutheran.  Good to hear...and good for her!  Trey, you're more optimistic about our future than I am...although I did play basketball all 4 years in high school, so I think our children will be alright.

In any case....not only is there a three way tie for second...should Marian knock off Edgewood at Marian this Saturday, there would be a three way tie for first, pending on who would be tied for first after the WLC Lakeland game.  With four games to go, tourney is just around the corner.

Should be a dandy tonite at the Edgedome....both Lakeland and Edgewood are at 7-2, Lakeland has something to prove since they got it handed to them at Lakeland back in December, should be an exciting game.

I must say that I have to compliment Edgewood's First Year Head Coach Bobbi Endress and the job her and her staff is doing thus far.  The Eagles came out this past week and beat a quality Marian team, and they continue their strong play as the season progresses.  Edgewood seems to have a different attitude than in years past and hopefully they can keep building on their momentum throughout the rest of the regular season and into tournament play.  They don't have many flashy players by no means, but they are starting to learn the game of basketball and quite frankly, are getting enjoyable to watch.  Look for the Eagles to make some strides in the tournament this  year.
