OK. I think we can cool it on the WIAC being the best conference.
If I remember right, 2 yrs ago the top 2 teams in the "best conference" lost in the 1st round. I believe last year neither team made it past the quarters. And this year the 2 top teams in the "best conference" lost in what essentially is their 1st round.
Don't give me home field advantage BS. There is none in D3. Same size field and crowds not big enough to make a difference. Travel doesn't take any thing out of you. It's all make believe narratives. It's used as a crutch when you lose.
I've been watching the WIAC for 20 yrs now. And without a doubt this has been the best year for this conference (as far as parity). Top to bottom. Only 1 really bad team. Today wasn't a good look for what I thought was the best year for this conference.
So based on today and the previous 2yrs, how can anyone justify this being the best conference?
Maybe it's just full of average teams?
So where did this narrative come from? Or start?

Had to have been a OL checking in eligible, right? Otherwise that is HIGHLY illegal.
I think the biggest surprise so far is Uranus losing.
I know i have always been a fan of the Uranus program. Follow it very closely. I guess that comes from my wife being an alumni there and her introducing me to the program. Very tight nit atmosphere there.
Hope this extra week of playing introduces the Uranus program to kids thinking about where to go. They might be surprised on well of a fit it might be for them

Game notes from UWO/UWP game.
Goofy game from beginning to end.
Turnovers killed UWO first half. Lovelace fumbled going into endzone. Barely touched. Touchback. Next drive a fumble by backup RB that resulted in UWP touchdown. Iladvised interception throw from Warren deep into UWP territory to no UWO wr in site. Looked like bad wr route.
Felt like UWO should have been up 17-0 at halftime. Instead down 10-3. Guessing they outperformed on total yds. Felt and looked like it.
Second half started with a nice drive, but freshman QB Cole Warren gets hurt. It did result in TD though
2 big td plays from WRs lead to a 14 point lead. UWP cuts the lead to 7.
Then came the most amazing thing I've ever seen in football. With UWO up 7 and 4 min left in the game, UWO had to punt on their own 30. UWOs punter shanked it for -8 net yards. Basically kicked it straight right. Came home and re-watched the 4th qtr. Turns out the punter blocked his own punt. YEP. As he dropped the ball to kick it, it looked like his hand came over the top of the ball. Long arms i guess. Funniest thing ever.
UWP had a great chance to tie it, but UWOs defense came up big. Especially on that very questionable 4th and 2 play by UWP. I don't know what that was. I don't even think their very good rb was in the game.
Anywho.
It was nice to see London Little getting more involved in the offense. This kid is special on his feet. I believe he took 2nd at the National Championship outdoor meet in the 100M dash. Team also took 2nd.
Trae Tetzlaff sets the all-time reception record (for UWO) in this game with I believe 181. Should be able to get to 200. Which is pretty cool I guess.
It's going to be fun watching Cole Warren grow these next 3 1/2 yrs. Feels like he's got "it." Kinda reminds me of the path of what Nate Wara, Brett Kasper and Kobe Berghammer went through. Last two of those 3 guys started a few games into their freshman year and didn't look back. I believe Nate is on the staff. TE's coach? Nate led Oshkosh North HS to a state title. Then went to UWO and led them to the playoffs for the first time in what seemed FOREVER. Probably turned the program around into being competitive just about every year.
UWO has got some little things to clean up. But every week they seem to get a little bit better and better as a full team. Hopefully they can keep up this good mojo.
Hopefully Cole comes out of this game ok

Nice! I should have watched that UWL/UWP game or UWRF onslaught. Anything would have been better than that garbage in Whitewater.
Nice to see the beautiful parity in the WIAC.
Can't wait to see UWL in person next week. And UWP the following.

No. I disagree with "a much clearer picture" with UWW against UWO. UWO's defense was exposed against Tech. While the middle of their defense is solid, UWW should be able to run all day on UWO. And pass over the top of the corners and safeties.
The Wheaton and Linfield games could have gone either way. And to be honest with you, both of those teams handed the wins to UWO.
Combine all that and up against a freshman QB, and UWW shouldn't have a problem with UWO. If not....well then.
UWW will handle UWO nicely and ALL WILL BE RIGHT IN THE WHITEWATER WORLD. (Fart noise)
You wanna see where UWW stands in the WIAC? Then without a doubt it's the UWL game. They're legit.

Yeah. Sorry. Meant to check in. Just had a lot on my plate last few months. But always tried to follow. I'll be around next year.
And for the record, there were whispers/rumors this past summer that this might be it for Pat. No one took it serious because he's relatively young. I have a friend who played with Pat at Carroll college and was a couple years behind him. So he cant be more than 48 or 49.
Maybe just got burnt out.
Maybe has the desire to coach HS again without the headaches. I know there's a pretty prominent HS opening close to where he came from.

@bleedpurple
You know, i had to bit my tongue about a month before the season started with all the potshots that were given about the UWO program. Coming from a few, but mostly by this bleed guy. If i was to guess, its coming from a washed up athlete, burnt out alumni or a scoreboard operator. But i guess its fitting when you live or are from a small town. You need something to hang on too.
https://www.weau.com/2021/08/27/four-wisconsin-cities-rate-top-20-most-livable-college-towns/
That article you just read includes all D1, D2 and D3 schools. Top marks for 3 great cities. And to that gentleman talking about breweries, hit me up the next time you're in Event City. I'll show you quit a few top notch breweries and great restaurants.
Months ago there were potshots about the bus, the newly developed band and about tradition. I don't think the former athletes, alumni or athletic departed at UWO are too worried about their tradition. And i dont think UWL or UWEC are either.
Total # of team championships:
UWL 70
UWO 47
UWW 17
Thats including D3, D2, NAIA, AIAW and NCGA team championships. Now if you want to include individual championships, the gap gets much MUCH wider. I had to go on Wikipedia to find that UWW #. If i remember right, UWL is #2, UWO is #4 or #5 and UWEC is in the top 15 list of all time championships. I dont remember seeing the great "CANDYLAND" on that top 15 list.
Looks like 3 schools have much more tradition than candyland.
Next time you see that bus, look at the number on it. Then figure out what the # would be on UWL's bus. Then lastly figure out what # would be on UWW's bus and crawl into your hole.
Its almost as if someone talks about another school on here, potshots are rendered. "How dare anyone talk about ANY other school besides UWW."
UWO has some past success.. .here comes a potshot.
UWL has some success this year....here comes a subtle potshot from this bleed guy.
ITS D3, WHO CARES!!!
So make yourself a sandwich and go to bed.
I remember when i was young my mom told me eating too much candy wasn't good for me and might rot my teeth.
I guess she was right!

i guarantee he has NO factual knowledge of anything he just posted. Just going off of the article he just read.

Wow. That final 6 min of that UWP/UWO game was something else!!!
Just when you think UWO wets the bed by allowing UWP to score with 1:45 left on the clock, the freshman duo of Kobe & Peter Mac carry team down field to score TD with 10sec on clock.
Very nice road win.

I've got 2. 1 I can tell. 1 I can't tell (involved super bowl week in New Orleans).
The 1 I can tell: State Bowling, Wausau, Early 00's
Picture this. Team bowling event over for a group of 20 around 7 PM. Same group walks to local watering hole. Spend the next 7 1/2 hrs there. 10 of the 20 walk to the hotel to crash for night. The other 10 decide to walk and find a diner open 24hrs. No such luck. But what we did find was a 24 hr grocery store. Plan was to buy some food and head back to hotel. Didnt end up that way at 2:30 AM.
3 people working in this huge grocery store. Female cashier. Some young kid stocking shelves. Another kid with headphones on waxing the floors.
So what was suppose to be a pay for groceries go home thing, turned out to be a free for all buffet. One guy (maybe me) grabbed a loaf of bread, opened up some cold cuts and made sandwiches for everyone. One guy halfway in one of those live lobster tanks letting them out on the floor. They had one of those big, bag your own peanuts crate. 4 guys around that eating peanuts and throwing shells back in. 2 guys racing around store in those handicapped carts. 2 guys sitting in chairs eating premade deli subs. Opened Doritos bag and a gallon of chocolate milk sitting in between them. Just people up and down isles cracking open containers/bags and helping themselves.
30 mins later cops show up. I wasn't around (back of store), but I was told tasers were drawn and big dogs barking at us. Next thing I remember we were all leaning up against the cop cars. A couple in cuffs. It was the 2 trying to get out of store in the handicapped motorized carts. Told cops they didnt want to walk back.
Turned out everyone was pretty cool about it. 1 of the cops was friends with a guy from our hometown that was a big shot in the DNR. All we had to do was clean up our mess and pay for the food we ate. There was a picture taken that night. In the picture were 3 guys around the peanut bin. In the background are the 2 on the motorized carts. Picture was blown up to an 8x10 and hung up at our bowling center.
Story sounds like we're bad people. That's not the case. Just like to have a good time. Plus we were hungry.
Probably a good thing all of us are in our 40's with families now.

Oh no worries.
I actually have many good stories like that. I've had the pleasure to travel quit a bit through my past job and for pleasure with friends. Try to tie a sports related event into my travels. It's no surprise that Salem embraced you guys. I mean for god sakes, team had a good run. So they saw you almost every year. One thing that I noticed in my travels, is that smaller cities (even some bigger cities) embrace the Wisconsin sports fan. Maybe it has something to do with the midwest kindness? The passion for their teams? Or maybe it's the money we spend in the bars.
The year Marquette made it to the Final Four with Dwayne Wade we were in Knoxville bowling in the National Tournament. We actually stayed and went out on the U. Of Tennessee campus. They loved us. During the game we actually got the whole campus bar to chant "WE ARE.....MARQUETTE." Tennessee students cheering for Marquette. It was great. Maybe they loved us cuz we spent 10 hrs at the bar feeding them money. At 1:00 A.M. they ACTUALLY told us we drank them out of whiskey. Probably far fetched. Most likely got cut off.
So yes. I can see why Salem embraces you guys. City probably disappointed when UWW doesn't make it.

And it actually worked out earlier this year that we were out there the same time to watch my UWO bball team win the championship. Game wasn't on TV. But I actually got the MGM Grand to stream it and project it on one of their big screens. They were happy to do it considering we had a big group and had a bunch of money on the game. We covered the spread, so all was good. Team should be good again this year. Only lost 2 starters. Preseason ranking #2. Should walk through WIAC. With only Platteville giving some competition I'm guessing.
So anywho. To get off the bball topic I have a question for y'all. What do you guys think of the moving of the championship game from Virginia to (Texas?) (then Ohio? ) believe? I know there was an article written on this site a while back about the whole thing. But, should they have moved it? Is it great they are moving it around? Was it a money grab? Too see better football in a warmer environment?
And did any of you UWW fans get a chance to make it out to Virginia? Fun? Any great stories? I know a few years back I looked into it when UWO made the title game but it was out of my price range for spending 1 night there watching 3 hrs of football. Seemed like a lot layovers and traveling in a car.. And I think oshkosh ran some buses out there, but I wasn't about to sit on a bus for what seemed like forever.
