I'm pretty ambivalent about having a final Johnnie-Tommie game.  I think it might be a decent quality game if they scheduled it at the end of the window, but it wouldn't be the same with a crowd of a few hundred

I'll admit, when this site showed up in my google results, I spent more time than I should have wondering how on earth a search for Kindle information ended me up on d3boards!
https://www.kboards.com/

Glad to see we aren't the only dinosaurs :p

I'm doing a little video project for Jeff Norman, SJU QB '76. He wants some DVD's made of the 1976 Stagg Bowl. I copied the video to my computer and loaded it up to Youtube if anyone is interested in checking it out...enjoy!!!

That really was a key block from the official.  I was surprised we didn't get a shot of an angry coach giving the guy an earful after that

Great idea but i don't see 19-22 year olds doing this:

I mean, we can't even get all the professional athletes to not go out and party. But sure, the college kids who don't have millions on the line will definitely do this

Going back to the postponement of fall sports there is one that doesn't make sense.  We can't have cross country this fall?  I figured that was a sport that was social distant by design.

I've seen it lumped in with easily socially distanced sports and seen push back in the other direction. Everyone bundled in at the start (and for a decent stretch), heavy breathing, lots of spitting. Can you do XC and wear a mask? No idea how that works.

Seems like where it is happening, they plan to run in smaller packs wherever possible.

With chip technology staggered starts shouldn't be that hard, if they really want to go.  Lot more work for the organizers to essentially set up heats. but doable.

With all of the other discussion, we failed to note that we've reached the time of year where the Football boards get moved back to the top of d3boards.com
Truly a glorious time, whatever else may come of this year.
As it should be, really. It is right and just!

HELP!

How do I use the features: bold, underline, italics etc. when I post?
Remember, I went to Mount Union and I'm old. Thanks guys.  ??? 🍺

If you want a piece of text to be bold, put [ b] and the start and [ \b] at the end (without the space in the brackets). IE: I really want to make sure you read this part of the text, [ b] SO I'M BOLDING IT [ \b].  Same thing for italic and underline, but with an i or a u instead

You can also highlight a piece of text you've already typed and hit the B/I/U in the upper left of the reply editor and it will insert the tags for you

VOJ reporting the same.

Interesting-- likely to mean lots more nonconference games. There would be no need for a championship game if you were just playing all 9 conference teams otherwise.  How do you split the 10?  I assume they aren't "even" in strength, or the championship will be the same 2-3 teams every year.

My guess is there will be a lot of trips up and down I-94 between Collegeville and WIAC schools.

Starting in 2021-22, @SJUFootball's divisional opponents within the MIAC will be Carleton, Gustavus, St. Scholastica & St. Olaf #d3fb #gojohnnies

Yuck.  Sounds like we play 3 of the 5 in the other division each year, with a possible 4th in the championship game?  Losing UST from the schedule was bad enough, but now losing Bethel too (some years).... Hope we get some good non-conf opponents, because otherwise the regular seasons could be real yawners....

I have no plans to go fishing, but, as an act of solidarity with those who are going out, I will be sure to enjoy some beer.

The best kind of worms are the ones we used to dig up in Grandpa's garden, and I will hear no counterarguments :p

Still nothing on Erdmann :( . I'm surprised, would have thought at least some team would be kicking the tires....I mean, Brett Hundley is still on an actual NFL roster

On the topic of playing in the Fall, we have to remember that football is inclusive of more than the low risk players. There are coaches, referees, bus drivers, janitors, equipment people tied to programs and games that are at risk. There are probably ways to mitigate risk with this, but it should not be forgotten.

Also, schools like Macalater are already actively planning for a later Fall start, and others are planning for hybrid class models of on-site + virtual. If kids aren't on campus that will be a challenge. The DIII university president is wired differently when it comes to decision making vs. a DI President. The loss of revenue from a single semester of athletics is minimal, with the exception of 1 in 1,000 type events like UST vs. SJU.

I think the bigger valid concern for a lot of D3 institutions is the revenue tied to enrollment. If a school has half of it's students competing in sports (as is the case at some small D3 schools) and they aren't able to compete, do they stay there or go elsewhere? Enrollment is already an issue and going to be stressed further by COVID, so this just adds to the problem.

I wonder if we'll see a decent number of students take a gap year, either because they are incoming students who don't want to start college remotely, or because they are athletes who don't want to pay for an extra semester/full year of school to play for all four years of eligibility

Through my Agent OzJohnnie (OZJ) I have informed the National Football League (NFL) that I have made myself (BDB) available in tonights NFL Draft.

With the Cincinnati Bengals (CB) having the 1st overall pick, I believe my skills at Quarterback (QB), Running Back (RB), Linebacker (LB) and Cornerback (CB) will have me off campus of Lay-Z-Boy University (LZB) and jetting to my new team and signing bonus of one billion cash ($1B).

So when you are watching tonight, whether it be on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) or the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) you should see my pick look like this:

1st Round 1st Pick

Team :    CB
Player:     BDB
School:    LZB
Position:  QB, RB, LB, CB
Bonus:    1B
Degree: GED

I gots skills to make Bills, baby!  Oz, you did send that letter to the NFL, didn't you?   ???    ;)

My sources indicate that it was a tossup between BDB and Jordan Love for Brian Gutekunst, but BDB's inability to throw 17 interceptions a season sealed the deal for Love

Looks like a well-deserved honor that they've really worked hard for over there

i have to wonder if things are still so dire that fall 2020 sports are cancelled the Tommies move to D1 will be delayed by a year.  Would not give them much time to prepare for such a big move by 2021.
As per this morning's Strib:  https://www.startribune.com/ncaa-meeting-to-consider-st-thomas-request-to-move-to-division-i-still-scheduled-for-april/569263832/

The lead picture for the Strib story is fantastic. Sad panda wearing a "Too good for the MIAC" shirt--not that day, fella!

There's got to be a Johnnie on the inside choosing their photos, given how many times that one seems to have gotten used.
