Middlebury will be tested in both remaining games if they want to have a chance a grabbing part of the title with Trinity. (With Wesleyan's help). Both Hamilton and Tufts can play and if the Panthers lose the turn over battle, providing short fields to their opponents, they could be on the short end of things.  Hamilton hasn't defeated the Panthers in a long time and sometime it is going to happen.  That game is at home, but Tufts will be on the road, adding to the challenge.

Let's face facts Hamilton is bad and only beat Williams this year because frankly Williams was bad as well. So there is slim hope they could beat Middlebury. Now Tufts is a different story. They have been the best offense this year in the NESCAC. I know statistics say that Trinity leads in a great deal of categories. I really think but for a few Coaching blunders and special team mishaps that Tufts would be the League leader. I think Middlebury is going to find them a tough match up especially since Middlebury has to travel to Tufts. I always give edge to home team. This will be classic game as neither team can stop the others offense.

I don't mean to look past Hamilton, because they will surely be looking to play spoiler this weekend, but looking to a final weekend of the season against a challenging Tufts squad and a tough Trinity game, with the championship on the line.

I don't usually say this, but go Wes!

I new it was going to be a long day when NESCACMAN picked Midd to win.

Colby always plays Midd tough.  They came to play.  Midd didn't get anything going until the game was on the line.  Not sure if it was a letdown from a tough first loss last week, but the offense didn't wake up until the 4th quarter.  Hats off to the Mules.

And down goes Wes!

I only saw the last few minutes, but it seemed Bowdoin was ahead most of the game.  How'd that happen?  Any given Saturday.

Botched the quote feature on that last one yet again. ;D

Catches: Lutz
TDs: Wood
Yards per  catch: Elkhoury
Yards: Lutz

In addition to leading the league in TDs, Wood leads in YPC among the top 19 receivers, is 2nd in yards and 3rd in catches.  Major playmaker.  Won't be surprised if he ends up leading all categories with Maldjian injured at RB and greater emphasis on pass game with Kennon healthy (he was injured in pre-season, though Tauber played very well in his absence for the first three games).

No doubt, Donovan Wood is stud, but, of course, he's no Devante Reid...   ;D  ;D  ;D

Last Weekend Trinity V Middlebury (Reid/Wood) Head to Head:

Reid: 5 Catches, 39 Yards, 1 TD
Wood: 7 Catches, 138 Yards, 1 TD

Welcome to game day in the NESCAC...

A final comment from us on the current (stellar) crop of WRs in the NESCAC....not sure we've ever seen a more talented group of WRs in the NESCAC...besides the ones already mentioned, other stand out in our mind including Simco, Clapp, Richardson, Hoggard, Livingstone et al..in our nearly 45 years of following NESCAC football, we've never seen a better collective group...we're sure some of that has to do with the change in offensive schemes at the HS/college level and as a result, teams are putting their best athletes at WR....wow, can these student-athletes play...

Looking forward to a great day in Brunswick....#rollcards

Yeah, couldn't agree more.  There are a lot of playmakers at WR.  From Midd perspective, I didn't mean to leave Livingston out of the top tier WR discussion.  He definitely belongs there. He's the guy they go to when they need a first down.  He's had a great career and was a big contributor to the '19 undefeated season.

We're sure that Panther Nation was happy to see our pick for the game tomorrow...sooner or later, we're bound to be right on the Pants...should be a great game...if the game was in Hartford, we think this one would be a no-doubter, but it's not so we'll see...

Well, it's always hard to argue against picking Trinity, so you get a pass this week, even if you end up wrong.  Thanks for picking against them for the karma.  It's the usual commentary about the "luck", "worst 3-0 team", "Muffies and Buffies" and "quitting" that make Panther Nation question the motivation of most of your Midd picks.  We think it's just frustration that Midd keeps beating Wes every time you think Wes has a championship caliber team.

Ultimately, it's all in good fun and I appreciate the effort you put into this.  And, yes, I know I botched the reply feature.  I'll figure it out eventually.

Ahhh, we finally understand why he dislikes Middlebury and picks against them every week.  Nothing to do with the team, just hoping they lose.

How has no one scooped up the Board name "Midd 9-0" yet?

IMO, would be worth starting your board legacy from scratch to be able to have that moniker.

I jumped in with my lame moniker about a month too early.

Gotta work on my quoting skills.

[/quote]I am concerned about the loss of receivers.  Hopefully there will be reliable options to throw the ball to with the graduation of Cosolito, Rye and Bochman.

It's a very deep position.  Livingston will have a great year next year and there are several excellent receivers who have just been waiting their turn.  It shouldn't be an are of concern.

MidDay....Middhoops and I look forward to enjoying those drinks with you next season.

:)

By the way, it was great to have a good turnout of players from the undefeated '72 Panthers celebrating with the '19 Panthers.  They even brought their team picture to pose with.

Helluva fun season to be a Panther parent.  It felt like a special season from the first heart-stopping win against Williams and never let up.  The whole season was a great team effort.  They're well stocked to stay competitive for the foreseeable future.

Things got crazy at the end of the year and I never got the chance to buy Bandy and MidHoops drinks at Dos Bro's, but hope to catch up with you next year!

I'll bet you, I've watched this gif at least a thousand times over the years.

For me, I'd definitely take the over. ;D

I wish Trinity would have relocated the track when they started to reconfigure their athletic field a few yeast ago. Unfortunately, being in a city there just wasn't room for it once they installed the new baseball facility. I agree the atmosphere was better when fans could walk along the track and my favorite places to watch NESCAC football on the road are those with seating closer to the field. I've never actually watched a game from the stands in The Coop; perhaps that will change with the new facility.

That is truly mesmerizing.  Remind us relative newbies whan that was and how it affected the game.
