Maybe it's a bigger ref problem. I don't watch as many other conferences. There is some crossover for sure. They all should still ref the game. It's their job! They get paid. It's not a volunteer position.

It was an easy "blown call". Now,I guess we do not know what the refs had available. Maybe not same feed. I also do not follow either team. I do hope someone in the WIAC wins it all. I am more disappointed at the refs in the WIAC. A lot of new faces, which is welcomed. But, ref. It's not AAU.

Gotcha. Saw it. Obvious flagrant. Now we don't know what referees are looking at, but he clearly intentionally swung and hit the head/face with an elbow. Did he mean to hit the head and face? Let's give him the benefit of the doubt, no. But he did. However, LOL. Ref, maybe on the missed ft you should call over the back. Unfortunately, we have glorified AAU refs in the WIAC. Don't call anything and randomly pick something to call. Embarrassing for the league. There is physical and there is cheap. Refs should know the difference. In the little I watched Yes, UWP continues to contact offensive players, ride, body, hand check, illegal screens. A back screen, you can't run into the defender. You should be set before the contact. But, if calls are not made, why not. May hurt them in playoffs? Maybe not? Guess they got to hope refs are all similar. Go WIAC.

I looked back, but had a hard time finding. Lot's of stoppage and fouls called. After watching UWP a number of times, I can say, yes they play physical and somewhat questionable. They do throw elbows and trip (stick their leg out) on purpose. Many do.  Maybe it's a team thing, toughness thing? They are good. When I watch them play, they know the refs are only going to call so many fouls and they are deep. I had to laugh at Pearson on his 5th. Clearly a charge. Maybe it was the other 4. We all know. When you play at UWP. You start the game down 10-0. lol

Having seen plenty of games this year. I would say reffing is down. I understand let the players play and we are WIAC. But hand checking, moving back screens, ball screens, and offense player bully balling dribbles to the rim and calling a foul on def player for legal guarding creates cheap physical play. It's what we see in WIAC now. Players do what is allowed. Adjust as necessary. Not calling fouls, that are fouls is not reffing. Unfortunately, it won't help the WIAC in playoffs. Because refs in other leagues will call fouls. Leaving us wondering why so many fouls.

Call me crazy, but maybe it should be known as Freshman of the Year!

Pearson is good. UWP is good. But, I see what I see. And I don't have a dog in the race. wiac network for anyone wants to go watch any game. Although be warned. Not all schools feeds are the same.

Watching uwec vs uwp. One thing for sure. You need to beat uwp and survive the refs. 2 different games being called.

Pearson is the LBJ of the WIAC. Never isn't a foul victim down the stretch.

I went and watched. I have to wonder about these players, teams, coaches?  Uttech takes a horrible 3. Not sure why? 2 for 1? Trying to lose the game? Then they get a O rebound so I'm thinking T.O. coach. Nope, another 3 goes up  by Walczak and in. Stout up 3. Again, are you trying to lose the game? They won, but blows my mind. Basketball IQ. I wonder...

*Oshkosh's stud sophomore, Michael Metcalf-Grassman only played 4 minutes.
I hate to speculate and I hope that I am wrong. But he went down with what appeared a knee injury. He was in a lot of pain. Prayers for the best and that he is back soon.

Quote from: Greek Tragedy on January 08, 2025, 10:29:34 PM*Stout played 12 guys and everyone scored at least 2 points. Colin Hudson was the only one to score in double-figures (13).

*River Falls played 11 guys and 10 of them played at least 10 minutes.

*Eau Claire's Gunnar Tubon scored 21 points (tied for the team lead) in 19 minutes off the bench.

*Oshkosh's stud sophomore, Michael Metcalf-Grassman only played 4 minutes.

*La Crosse had 4 starters play 31 or more minutes and still had 4 others play at least 14 minutes.

*Platteville had 5 players score in double-figures, lead by Pearson's 25.

*Whitewater had just 23 total rebounds after averaging over 35 coming into the game.

*Point actually hit their FTs, going 14-17 (82.4%)

Platteville leads early top team but will be more challenged than last year. Last year may have been one of the weakest Wiac conf. 8 wins won 2nd. This year you have pointers, Eagles, Blugolds (who beat snc away. I don't see them at the bottom.) Titans. All will be tough games. Rounding the bottom. Whitewater, Falcons, Stout.

Quote from: WIACer on December 02, 2024, 10:09:50 AMI agree we can put the best conf to bed for this year. It is one of the top conf every year. My only gripe.  The NCAA Div 3 playoffs is sort of a joke. Look at the pairing and ask yourself, where does it make sense? It's not about rewarding your hard work during the season. UWP played the top 10 teams throughout the year. Is Lake Forest the  #2 seed? Who did they play? Let's face it. Private schools run the tournament and they are going to look out for their teams. WIAC will always given the tougher road. You will need to beat the NCAA committee, the bias, and your conference. It is what it is.

It has nothing to do with a private school bias (Cortland is a state school with a 1 seed), and everything to do with NPI and budget. We got a bigger field and more flights, but not unlimited flights. NPI is far from perfect and in its current iteration it's too heavily weighted towards Win % than it is SOS. That can be adjusted in another year. In the old system UWL probably doesn't even make the field.

Exactly, that's why I said it was sort of a joke. NPI is not perfect. Play a weak schedule, don't lose games you shouldn't, get in playoffs. Punishes teams with harder conferences, larger conferences and who play better teams than average every week. Even if LAX doesn't make it. Maybe Bethel doesn't make it. There are plenty of teams that don't belong in the playoffs. Northwestern, but they win their conf.  Committee members are made up of mostly private representatives. Of course, there are more of them. To their core, they believe we are a D2 league, forever. But once you pick the teams and they are in. Rank them accordingly. Even if the system is screwed up. Again, Lake Forest played who? Did they play a top school?  UWP doesn't get a home game? They still may have lost, or maybe they are playing Bethel, Lake Forest?

Figure they get clock and still kick a fg. Falcons 4 and 1 and a slant. I'm sure they want that back.  WW playing chess, Falcons playing checkers. Not sure I have seen Falcons win a big game when needed. I maybe wrong. but for 3 years it's like almost. UWW staying alive!

WIAC BB season around the corner.  Is it a year that 2 or 3 teams get into the tournament. The conference was not as tough last year. WIAC teams lost a lot of non-conference games. Not typical and 8 wins got you second. However, this year I feel the league will be improved. Who is going to win the WIAC? I don't believe UWP can get through the season with 2 losses, but have to be the front runner, but some room for others. My initial thoughts for first second, then a jumble of mess.
