The Vikings are in free fall. For the third game in a row the played an opponent that had more energy, more enthusiasm, and more execution than they did. The Vikings did erase a 14-point deficit in the last ten minutes to tie the game at 79-79, but they faded in crunch time while Carroll finished like the Pios were the (now former) contenders and the Vikings were the team in last place.

NPU has two more chances to right the longship, because if they go into the CCIW tourney looking like this the Vikings will be one-and-done and this once-promising season will come to an abrupt end.

Greg, couldn't remember if you said it or your color guy did early in the second half about Rico Powell trying to get to the tin for a shot with no regards to what the situation looked like in front of him, and sure enough, a killer turnover after fighting so hard to get back with about a minute to go. Interesting to see if he learns from that today.

Quote from: ChickenHoops on January 21, 2025, 10:44:00 PMNo Hilltop viewing party for the Oshkosh game.  It's just down the road, go watch them play ! My sense is the Pointers will win big at Quandt so get to Oshkosh and cheer on the lady Dawgs.

Double wammy Wednesday night for the Pointers, but wouldn't have predicted either outcome at all.

Quote from: tomt4525 on October 21, 2024, 12:03:21 PMWisconsin Basketball Yearbook arrived this morning.  First thing I always do with it is check the returning players for UWSP, this year looks like another mass exodus happened and I don't envision a JV schedule because of it.

Myles Coleman entered the portal, I didn't see if he landed anywhere else.
Shane Tarjan
Parker Prahl
Josiah Gillie
James Sivley
Casey Verhagen
Jacksen Smith
AJ Uttech already transferred to Stout directly after the season concluded
Nick Fox is an incoming freshman but had to have knee surgery, he's out indefinitely.

Looking at the names, I'm pretty disappointed to see Casey Verhagen.  He had 3 years of eligibility left and I think he'll turn into a very good player as an upperclassmen.  He transferred to Concordia University Wisconsin.

There were some pictures posted online from the purple/gold game and I see that Wissports, at the very least, has incomplete information.  Shane Tarjan is back on the team as he was in one of the pictures.
What did Wissports have posted?
I'm assuming he meant just the Yearbook piece he listed above and not Wissports specifically with Mark no longer being at Wissports.

Not that the Yearbook is bad, but the information has to be sent in way ahead of it actually reaching our front doors, so I would take what is listed for college with a grain of salt.

UWO made the change in '91 but took a few years to get an invite to the D3 tournament.

Crazy to see the dominance in the WIAC when some of the other teams got a 15-20 year head start.

No conference games this weekend. This is some pretty bad scheduling. Instead of having an open weekend, why don't you have an open Wednesday and play the games on the weekend. It would probably attract more fans for weekend games, plus there probably aren't any classes missed, players getting home really late on a school night etc. Better yet, have the open date earlier in January when students aren't even on campus.

Was there mid-term graduation or something?

One would think there had to be a reasoning behind it, especially since they could have done it last week after the first round was done. Because the points you mentioned are pretty convincing as to why they should have done it on a different day.

Curious to see where North Park lands in the ORV grouping. I think they are deserving to be in or right outside, but there was some big wins this week from the teams already getting votes.

And now Taulia Tagovailoa has transferred to Maryland. Not a good fortune for Evan Lewandowski.
That's unfortunate to hear. I can't believe the article on ESPN did not mention Lewandowski  ;) Did they forget that a commit holds some NCAA records?

Just curious if anybody knows the tiebreakers for determining who gets the automatic bid? I looked at multiple conference websites but could not find anything.

Had La Crosse held on the lead against Platteville, there would've been a three-way tie for first place. I am wondering who would have got the auto-bid if that were the case.
