Some interesting news that Mike Lafleur an Elmhurst College graduate and brother of the packers head coach is getting an interview for the Cleveland Browns head job. He is currently the passing game coordinator for the 49ers. He was a player while I coached and really was a terrific person and kid. Brilliant mind. Hope he gets it!! Good Luck to him!

Good Luck today to NC and Wheaton!!
On the other stuff!! Guys everyone outside of IWU have issues with Norm. I played at EC and coached at EC, I don't like him. No matter what the issues you might have with him you can't argue his consistency over his tenure. His teams are usually in the top third of the hardest conference in d3. I would rather have a coach that rubs a few people the wrong way and wins then the long history of "nice guys" that have not produced results.
Nachos although I won't like it, I will cheer for your son against everyone but EC!

I know a great QB transferring to IWU in January. He is a top level talent from a top west suburban high school. He currently is at another school and the only reason he is transferring is due to a major change he wanted long term and IWU offered the program and his current school did not. Top notch player, great kid, and I know his family who are great people. Not good for my blue jays but someone who will be leading IWU the next 4 years. Unfortunately I do not want to give names since he is not enrolled yet but it is confirmed he his transferring to IWU in January. You will be very pleased.
I have learned this is Joe Javorek (York HS), who was on the roster at D3 Monmouth this year but didn't play. As I understand it, will have 4 years eligibility remaining at IWU.
I don't know anything about Javorek - I've heard he had some D2 offers out of HS. Maybe Bluejay9710 can jump back in on what he knows of Javorek.

Not sure about York being "a top west suburban high school" from a football perspective, so I'm curious about Bluejay9710's comment about "leading IWU for the next 4 years". Seems to indicate he thinks Mr. Javorek will become the starter next year at IWU. Big step up in competition going from the MWC to the CCIW, and based on the fact that he didn't really see the field at Monmouth, I'm not so sure I would be willing to proclaim him as the starter next year. Don't recall hearing much about him his final two years of high school (plus York wasn't very good either of those years), so I would imagine some of the current QBs on the roster at IWU might take issue with that assumption.
I am not sure about the current roster on IWU what I can tell you that he is a top level kid and athlete. He was being looked at from many lower level D1 And D2 schools and also had some walk on opportunities. Ran into a couple nagging injuries his sr year which slowed that process down. As a former college coach I can tell you he has exceptional skill level. He can make all throws, great size, and a great leader and overall kid. Prior to his sr year at QB farm I believe was rated as a true top level prospect. Sure like any young player he will need to learn the IWU offense and playing in the cciw. That being said I truly believe you will be in great hands. It will be fun to watch.
Congrats to NC and Wheaton!!

I'm not sure what I just watched really.
Haha you guys crack me up.
I think you watched the results of Brandon Bauer being knocked out. With him, I expected IWU to win; without him I at least expected a toss-up. Now I am not at all confident about the Millikin game next week.
We'll finish 6-4 at best, perhaps 5-5.
Is there anyone on campus currently who can succeed Bauer, or are we in for a 2004-06 trough?

Sounds like Norm got him enrolled in either our Law School, Med School, or MBA program.
I heard that, after consulting his former babysitter Luke Scarlata, the kid narrowed his med school choices down to Augustana and Illinois Wesleyan before choosing IWU.

Btw this is bluejay4ever but it's been years since I posted, I couldn't relink my old account as I didn't have the same email. It's good to be back following cciw action and I've calmed down in my old age. Hope you all are well and glad to see the success of this weekend in the conference.
