If the temps stay mild and there's moisture on or before Saturday AM, I'm not holding out a lot of hope for the state of that field once everything clears out in the afternoon.

This. Weather says 40s and High 80s on humidity. Add in a few spilled coolers or TWR, and you could see cars making big ruts in the field. If a couple cars get stuck in heavy traffic lanes, you could have a real mess.

The Old Red Lantern is officially my second favorite railroad-related traveling trophy in the league.   :)

Agreed.  I bet the Old Red Lantern sounds stupid when you try to ring it.

Hopefully, we never try and find out which one burns brightest.

Well done. This is good insight that I'm sure a lot of fans "conveniently" overlook.

Alright. I decided to spend my lunch hour on this since it's been rattling around in my head for a week or so.

The ratio has gone far more female in recent years.
I've said for many years, DePauw is a great school... for women.  ;)

Posting live from the Jennison St. parking lot outside Byron P. Hollett Little Giant Stadium. I'm holding the fort down at wally_wabash's tailgate until he shows up.

The brisket and pork loin are slow roasting and the spiced cider is keeping the night chill at bay.

11 hours till kickoff...

BB 16 ... keep up your posts and comparisons.  Knowing your experience, knowledge, and attention to D III, Wabash, and NCAC ... you are a rational and good thinker.  Keep it up.

LOL!!! This is really rich coming from the predicter of monkey stomps...  :D

And that is "rich" coming from a "Scots Fan" whose team is 4-0 and has a "There's always next year" avatar... ???

*sigh* The "Pat" or "D3Football.com" or whomever is out to get us argument is way outplayed. They give Wabash plenty of respect, as well as a proper amount of ribbing when one of us acts like a goofball.

ps why do you suppose pat is being such a hater?

To the topic at hand... Both coaches have long lists of pros and very short lists of cons. Obviously, the search committee is doing a fantastic job.

I'm a bit tired of all of the speculation and conjecture myself and am ready for the announcement of who it is. But I understand the delay from the committee. I'll be happy with either of the two and be ready to hear what they have to say about the future of the team and their goals.

7)  someone who will continue and build beyond the present winning tradition.

GREAT point. In 5 years or so I want to be able to say that we have taken a step up. Not that CC didn't do great things, but our growth doesn't have to stop just because we changed coaches.

If not Metzelaars, what about Stan Parrish? He is currently OC at Ball State. That would also be cool.

Does anyone think Metzelaars would have any interest in returning to C-Ville? Probably, too much of a step back, but it would be cool.

Can't win with some Wabash fans.

This is the truth. This site gives Wabash plenty of coverage. If anything you might even argue that they give us more coverage than our share. Things we have to keep in mind...
A) How many teams are there in D3?
B) What story is the bigger story from a national perspective?
C) What playoff game have we won that puts us on the top tier? In the hunt w/ the best of the rest? Maybe... Expected to be MUC Redux? Hardly... Yet... ;-)

Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not mention some of my thoughts about CC. Rarely have I ever had the pleasure of meeting someone who could instantly impact your life. What he did with the football program is second in my mind to what he did with the men that went through his program. However, He did do amazing things with the football program and raised the bar for what we expected each season. I wish him and Neal the best and they will be missed. SOME LITTLE GIANTS!

Just got back to Indy from Whitewater... I want to congratulate you guys on a great game. You earned it. Everyone I met there was very respectful, and I had a fun time despite the outcome. (And the horrendous drive home)

Best luck in the next week or 2... Go win it all!

It may be cold, but with that free beer in the endzone, my blood is warm. What a great place to celebrate my 16th birthday...

My legs are cold... I need a "Beaver" pelt to make socks out of... DK and Adi, can you guys go hunting for me?
