Good question. I really don't know.

The Mount radio guy had a good reason to be excited! If Del Val ever wins a quarterfinal game, I might burst into flames on air. :)
they are a great bunch, WRMUalum13 and crew, as well as the D3football staff!

Get up 20-0 and shut it down, again...glad to get out of there with minimal injuries. Dirty, cheap east coast program. The refs had no control of that game
Totally agree, there were more cheap shots made than a Three Stooges episode. Not sure why the player that kicked Ruby on the ground and swung at a coach wasn't penalized but refs truly lost control. Announcers for Mactv done a great job on broadcasting and being gracious over the Mount student broadcasting nearby with all their excitement.

I think the call going out for the kickoff was with the penalty that put BW back they would get decent field position as well as save clock for whatever offensive plays they could accomplish. You could run that  Hail Mary play 100 times and never come close to what happen there. Totally craziness! Hopefully the offense shows something next week or it will be a shortened season for sure. Other than the obvious win the best part of what happen is that it sent the fear of a loss right through the players coming into the playoffs. Hopefully it shocked them like a defibrillator!

When Ruby gets piled on all I could think was it's Ted Ginn Jr moment! Grrrrr, hopefully he's ok

Haven't been on the board for a while, but needed to check in as well when I heard of Lenny Reich passing this morning. Truly a wonderful guy in every respect and glad he was able to get his induction into the CoSid Hall of Fame this past summer before is health got too much worse. Bless is family and friends through this tough time, and RIP Lenny, love you brother, you will be dearly missed. He was a Tribe/Guardian season ticket holder and hope he can smile down tonight and hope they beat the Yanks.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Pat will be at the St. Thomas game.

Lol, I assumed that was the case but you know what they say about ASSUME-ing. It's usually the Stagg bowl when Pat comes by the tailgate!

Rumors were floating around Alliance this week (from a few of my impeccable sources) that there is a chance the ESPN Game Day folks were considering coming to town if it ended up being Mount vs. UWW.  Anyone with any knowledge as to that?

Also, for you regulars (and all others who are welcome), there will be our annual internet friend, wing-eating gathering on Friday night.  Mt. Fan will post details on that as the week goes on.

It should be a fun week leading up to this game.

Planning to start about 7:00 Friday at Rey's bar and grill for the annual wings and brewfest so you board posters can meet, chat and catch up on the playoff hype. Pat, Keith and the D3 cast, we hope to see you guys as we have before.

We have two powerful kick-ars teams going off this Friday and THAT is what we should be talking about!

So GET ON WITH IT!!!!

Enrollment wise, Whitewater is much closer to D1 than D2.

Here are Division I FBS programs with fewer undergraduate students than Whitewater:

Tulsa
Rice
Air Force
Navy
Army
Wake Forest
Duke
Stanford
Vanderbilt
SMU
Louisiana-Monroe
Tulane
Notre Dame
Northwestern
Boston College
Louisiana Tech
Idaho
TCU

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Given that they have a massive student body and an insanely low cost of attendance, University of Wisconsin schools should compete and win national titles in every sport every season.

And yet, the NESCAC earns more national titles than the WIAC, proving enrollment does not correlate to athletic success in Division III.

While that might be true, I'm not sure Toph is considering Backgammon, Chess and Curling in national title counts! ;D oh and don't forget hockey ice or field.  IMO the NESCAC needs to step on the football field with the rest of Division III instead of avoiding it, but guess that's there choice. Pat, are the titles in the NESCAC more individual national titles than team sports? I'm only a little familiar with Williams and Amherst, and know Williams has a stockpile. I somewhat agree with Toph that enrollment size does factor into athletic success in Division III, and though it may not necessarily show in titles won it does in turn come out in other ways, facilities, ticket revenues, $$$ generated for athletic depts. etc..

Congratulations to Kevin Burke. A worthy Gagliardi Award winner in every respect. Obviously was pulling for Cole, but I can't imagine anyone complaining about the choice. Quality guy on and off the field.
CONGRATS to Cole as being a finalist as well! the dude is a stud, smart one at that!

In other OAC news ... John Carroll's London Fletcher has announced his retirement from the NFL.  [99% sure that is]

Congrats to London Fletcher on a great NFL career.   You did the OAC and D3 proud.  Wish more NFL players approached the game and life like he did.

DITTO! +K

Thanks Pat and D3football for the interviews and coverage, you guys do a wonderful job giving 15,000+ student athletes the coverage they deserve. Thanks again for your long standing commitment!
