For a number of years, I was of the opinion that W&J's academic/admission standards made it nearly impossible for the Presidents to return to the level of play enjoyed by their fans for many years.

Yesterday, at Johns Hopkins University, I was shown, undeniably, that that opinion was off the mark.  I have great trouble imagining JHU's academic/admission standards being lower than W&J's and the Blue Jays clearly played at a level that we used to see regularly here in Washington.

Don't get me wrong, making the NCAA's more than 1-2 times in 10 years is an accomplishment of which the college can be proud.  And, perhaps, they are at a level with which they are comfortable, the balance between academics/athletics meets at this intersection.

But I do not want to hear, again, that what JHU is doing can not be done here.  There ARE outstanding athletes interested in playing D-3 football who CAN meet the academic/admission standards of a W&J College.  And I'm look, hopefully, to those players putting on the Red & Black again in the very near future.

The difference is Johns Hopkins is a nationally recognized university, meaning they can recruit nationally.  They hardly have any players on their roster from the state of Maryland and reach as far as California, Texas, Florida & Washington.  W&J doesn't have that luxury, despite being a great academic school in its own right.

Seems as though Kean has hired former Rutgers and Seattle Seahawks QB Mike Teel as their QB coach.  Good luck to him.

No ECAC game for Ursinus?  Did they turn down an invite?

Great job Blue Jays!  Going to need to bring their "A" game on defense and put up some points to pull the shocker in Dover next week.

Anyone know what happened to Hopkins' starting QB today?  He's listed in the starting lineup, but nowhere to be found in the boxscore or play by play analysis.

dont know what it was all about but Hamilton continuously said that the Lions were better than the Mules all year long and said that the Mules simply got lucky in beating them

Do you have any proof of that? I never read it anywhere.

I seriously doubt Coach Hamilton would have said anything like that.  It's not his style.

I like going to the OAC page, you express an opinion that is against the consensous and you take karma hits.  For a bunch of people who probably never met or even tried to talk to KC Keeler they sure hate him.  Ohitians, go figure.

Well, I've never met Keeler but did try to talk to him (luckily, the refs held me back), and I still hate him.   >:(

That was you  ;D

You make it sound like I was the only opposing player who wanted to have a "conversation" with Keeler during a game, JT.   ;D

Congrats Mount.  46 yards of offense was just not going to cut it for TCNJ.  Good luck the rest of the way, although I don't think you'll need much of it.   :)

14-0 Mount.  9:11 in the 1st

7-0 Mount.  Fumble return on a punt for a TD.  TCNJ had 2 sacks on the 1st series.

I was looking at open dates now that Ursinus has lost LaSalle. Here are a few that I think they could look into.
Waynesburg ( Western PA do not know if they would travel that far. Gave up ECAC game because of travel cost)
Wesley ( Just down the pike under an hour drive.)
Rochester ( ( Another long trip> Cost????)
King's ( Just 1 1/2hrs up the Turnpike. would be a good game)

I doubt Waynesburg or Wesley would be an option.  I know the Centennial likes to schedule out of conference games against schools that have similar academic philosophies and I'm not sure they fit the bill.  Hopkins has played Rochester in the past and King's might fit the bill since they come from the MAC.

They basically were a D3 program masquerading as a 1AA program.

And not a very good one -- Massey ranked them directly behind Howard Payne, who was ranked 186th in Division III.

Well Pat,  didn't want to kick them while they're down.   :)

I believe former NBA player Lionel "L-Train" Simmons played at Lasalle as well.

Back to football, I think if nothing else, TCNJ won't be intimidated this weekend.  Coach Ham will have them prepared to play to the best of their ability and represent the NJAC and East well.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think for any Lasalle player looking to transfer and play next season, they'd have to transfer to a D2 or D3 program.  If they transfer to a 1A or 1AA program, they'd have to sit out a year.

I watched Lasalle play TCNJ this year.  They basically were a D3 program masquerading as a 1AA program.  It's a shame that they had to disband the program.  As a football fan, you never want to see that.
