Lots of System talk over in the CCIW room.... good reading.... and a unanimous conclusion that a system team cannot beat an elite level team.. But it will be fun to watch

In the meantime, is GU 1999 really down here watching Baseball?????    BLASPHEMY!!!!!!

LONG trip MUW to Eureka Illinois....

GU 1999   the reason MUW is traveling even though they are the #4 seed and Eureka # 5 is that MUW is in a 2 year moratorium being the new guy in the conference.  A part of that Moratorium is MUW can not host a conference tourney game in their first two years..... they are good next season.   Hence... the 640 mile bus ride... wonder if they win, will they stay in Illinois for the Friday night matchup with Greenville

Hopefan conquers the unknown....

Webster/Westminster both finish 17-1 in conference.... Split with each other... Westminster be hosting next weekend.   Did it come down to Technical fouls?  Or coin flip?

Crazy.. I reviewed box scores .... Westmin 1 tech in 18 conference games, Webster 2 techs....tough way to lose host role, but everyone knew that this 5th level tie breaker was out there..

Fortunately for Greenville it won't reach the technical foul tiebreaker... :o  :o  :o

Greenville will have the stands packed if they get to host... Let's hope for the road win at Lyon...

Uuhhhh.. Gu1999.. In 95-96, GU failed to win the conference tourney, therefore did not get to the NCAAs... this year, Lyon doesn't get the opportunity to play in the conference tourney.  I have mixed feelings about that.. they played a full conference schedule, they deserve to play in the conf tourney.  Unfortunately if they were to win the tourney, a non winner would have to represent the SLIAC IN THE NCAAs.

A shame Lyon not eligible for conference tourney... takes some of the glow off this weeks games where they host Spalding and Greenville.

Still Greenville could tie or overtake Spalding depending on the week's results.  MUW has played well at home, could spring an upset...

Either team deserving of home court in Conf Tourney...

Do Lyon and MUW play in the conference tourney?

Very interesting duel for 6th place in the conference standings.... and I am assuming that is the last spot available for the conference tourney..
Fontbonne, with their "stunning" lost to Westminster, falls to 6-9.  Eureka is at 5-10, but beat Fontbonne at Eureka by 1 earlier.   Fontbonne hosts Eureka on Feb 19.   Each have 2 other games, and none are given wins, in fact, all tough games.
The Eureka at Fontbonne game is Huge....

By the way.... while I am familiar with virtually no individual players, it has been fun getting closer to the games and standings the last several weeks through these boards... Greenville 1999, thank YOU!!!  I've been pulled back in!!!!!!
The SLIAC room was one of the most active rooms on the boards a number of years ago...Between me, Dennis McKinney, YJack, and regular posters at one time or another from MacMurray, Greenville, and Eureka, these pages were very active.  Though words became somewhat harsh now and then, all of our activity showed that the competition within a low level D3 conference is just as exciting and fun to follow as in the top level conferences.

Yes per hopefan standings, Spalding is in great shape....  they wont lose at home to Westminster (sorry Todd), then face the key road trip to Lyon and MUW... they can lose to Lyon, cannot afford to lose to noncontender MUW. 2 losses (to Lyon and MUW) brings Spalding back to 0, and a potential 3 way tie with Greenville and Lyon.  A win at Lyon just about clinches...
