Kind of a slug fest in the first half.  Second half strategy.  Score more points than Linfield.

Great job lutes!  Good showing.

Good luck cats.

Wyd,
Will you be at the Catdome on Sat ?

Alas I will not.  I would really like see the crew again and share some old war stories.

I shaved my cat in honor of the big game this weekend.  I will be mixing myself up a long island in honor of 11 and Blue.

Hey Lutes!!!  So pumped to be playing Linfield in round one!  Couldn't have asked for a better re-introduction to the post season.  This is going to great!  I wish I could be there in person.  Go Lutes...

  They'll be ready this week!

I agree.  Not sleeping on Willamette.  Talented team for sure.  It should be a great game at the 'Catdome.

ADvantage 'Catdome: Lewis & Clark Post-Game Interviews

It was kind of downer we couldn't crack the top 25.  I like the new Willamette offense :).

Big win for the Lutes this week.  I went to the CalLu game last week and have to say the looked good at times, but were so rusty, it looked like they needed another week to work on the basics.

That said, I thought they might have a chance to beat Redlands, but I wasn't counting on it.  Sounds like they got a lot of stuff worked out since last week.

So, now we have Linfield Week (or "Flute Week" as Bluenote knows it).  I think that Linfield is the better team, but it will be interesting to see if the PLU D can slow down Linfield this year.  Who is going to the game?

All NW final.  Go Lutes!

Won't be making the trip to Linfield.  Would love to see a good game.  The Lutes D gets a real tough test today.  We will see how it goes.

I don't care for the new uni's - I thought the gold pants were classy.

Hey Dee,

With you on this one.  I don't mind the new Uni's, but it is going to take sometime for us old school guys to get used to these.  At least the yellow matches the jerseys.

I managed to make it out to Sparks for the first time in a long time.  Took my son to his first PLU game.  He loved it.

Offense:
PLU looked young on offense, but talented.  I couldn't figure out if they were flat, or confused.  Wide open recievers were missed several time.  Lots of turn overs and a sluggish running game.  There were flashes of brilliance though.  There was a 64 yard drive in the 3rd that was vintage Westering.

Defense:
Best I have seen from PLU in a really long time.  Quick with lots of hitters.  The D-line was great and all over the HUGE UPS QB (6'4 - 250).

All in all a good performance and I am interested to see how this team starts to gel when they get into the meet of the NWC.

Preseason polls in D3 football are kind of pointless.  I do like being number 3 given the holes on offense.   We haven't under the Scott W regime been able to put together solid years after graduating so many skilled positions.   We will see if this year is different.

Happy hunting in the playoffs Cats.  I have to say I am disappointed by the Lutes not getting a bid.  I thought for sure a top 25 ranking and a solid win over the SCIAC champ would yeild some results.

We did what we needed to, but didn't get the nod.  Maybe next year.  Go NWC.

great photos Cawcdad....

Thanks for the recap.  Linfield is going to be supremely tough and hasn't gone our way in way in a long time.  I am looking forward to the game.  I think PLU will certainly be an underdog and we will see if they can conjur up some emal magic to get by Linfield.
