WIAC Preseason Poll:

1. UWP
2. UWL
3. UWSP
4. UWRF
5. UWW
6. UWO
7. UWS
8. UWEC

I think it is Platteville's title to lose. Too experienced.

UWRF is the dark horse, their bigs may be the best in the conference and they have a potential POY/All American in Johnson.

For my 2 cents:
1. UWP
2. UWRF
3. UWSP
4. UWO
5. UWL
6. UWEC
7. UWW
8. UWS

Quote from: tomt4525 on March 29, 2024, 09:21:13 PMLogan Pearson has received a scholarship offer from D1 Green Bay.

Have Fox or Barnstable gotten any D1 offers? I've seen posts about schools that have contacted them.

With almost 2000 D1 and D2 players in the portal, there have got to be more and more scholarship opportunities,  but also more competition.

Quote from: tomt4525 on March 25, 2024, 04:46:10 PMLogan Pearson initially said he was going back to Platteville, now he's entering the portal.  He entered last year only to come back, we will see what happens.  He's obviously a huge loss if he leaves.

Of course it will hurt, but I still think UWP will be a top 5 team in the country next year. They'll just get bigger roles from the other returners, who are capable of huge games, which we saw during tournament time.

Lots of veterans and leaders returning (Probst, Olson), Love had a break out year and kept getting better, the freshman and sophomores kept improving and they got great production or of them. Plus one of the best coaching staffs in the country.

The WIAC should be their's next year, which means if you are tops in the WIAC,  you are top in the country.

Looks like a great fit for Stout

Diener resigns at D2 Rockhurst, will Whitewater or Eau Claire go after him?

Quote from: wiacfamily on March 01, 2024, 05:46:18 PMGood luck to the lone WIAC team in the tournament.  Go Pioneers!

Has anyone heard any names being floated around for UWEC. It looks like it could be a highly sought after job.
A few posts ago Bob Semling the former SP coach and a UWEC alum was mentioned.

Wasn't sure if that was an actual thing.

Was UWW interim or did they make it permanent?

1 WIAC

Exactly what I was saying.

One of the weakest seasons in the WIAC.

Interestingly enough, 3 teams from within 25 miles of each other all made the tournament.  UWP, Loras, Dubuque

Quote from: PauldingLightUP on February 21, 2024, 01:52:34 PMHere's what I've got on seniors and senior day for this year.

I found the least information on Eau Claire. But, appears Blair will not use a fifth year. Ijadimbola, Huschka, Tebon, and Hall all could come back for fifth years.

For La Crosse Noone, Furhman, Westra, Gross, Schwartzhoff, and Platz all celebrated senior day and are done. I don't think anyone is in line to use a fifth year.

For River Falls Jedwabny, Reeck, Curvey, Holland, Hanson, and Benson celebrated senior day and are done. I believe that leaves Renta, Parker, and Meritt to come back for a fifth year.

For Stevens Point Buchanan, Genrich, and Peterson celebrated senior day and are done. I don't think anyone is in line to use a fifth year.

For Platteville Schaff and Nies celebrated senior day and are done. Pearson and Probst going to use a fifth year.

For Whitewater D. Barnstable, Pytleski, Kelley, and Chislom celebrated senior day and are done. I don't think anyone is in line to use a fifth year.

For Stout Noll, Fox, Hoffman, Scharlau, Rachner, and Jungel celebrated senior day and are done. Shore in line to use his fifth year or really sixth year if you will.

For Oshkosh Mahoney, Otto, Steckbauer, and Spang celebrated senior day and are done. Gunnink and Adamson in line to use a fifth year.

Corrections/updates appreciated.

Lots of 4th year guys with a covid year on the list. Are they not using a 5th, or not using their 5th at that school?

Is it me, or was this the weakest top to bottom the WIAC has ever been? Lots of non-conference losses to bordering conferences MIAC, UMAC, CCIW, ARC,NACC. 3 teams below .500, only 2 teams with less than 10 losses.

I don't think it was about parity at a high level in the conference, but mid-level parity.

Lots of new coaches this year, plus lots of 4th, 5th year veterans done after last season may have something to do with it.

As we are a few non conference games away from the conf season, I am predicting UW Platteville to be the conference champ this season.  Having a fairly consistent roster (& veteran coach ) over the past few years will benefit them.

1.UWP
2. UWW
3.UWO

4.UWEC
5. UWL

Toss up for the bottom 3, it probably depends who shows up
UWRF
UW Stout
UWSP
