Quote from: saratoga on March 04, 2025, 07:23:46 AMPittsburgh to Whitewater, Wisc. 569 miles (flight).
Pittsburgh to Scranton 283 miles (bus).

If Scranton makes it through the first weekend, they will be the highest ranked team in that section with a # 3 national ranking in NPI.
Why would they not host weekend # 2?
As I said earlier, there will either be 2 flights heading west or 2 heading east.
If the highest seed is still standing, purchase your "Office" tee shirts now. ;)

I don't understand the argument. Scranton is a larger metro area, with more hotels, restaurants to meet the needs of teams coming in. The gyms are nearly the same size, with I believe the Long Center holding more.

And. Scranton is the higher seed.

The host would have been Carnegie-Mellon, not Whitewater, because a flight would have been eliminated(if Pittsburgh-Whitewater < 500 miles).

Ah, my fault!  I did not go back that far!

Thanks!

A reminder as NCAA Tournament is announced. The Royals have not hosted an NCAA Tournament game since 2002-2003. From it being a nearly yearly event late 70s through early 90s, it has bene 22 years...

Quote from: Greek Tragedy on March 03, 2025, 02:12:16 PMIt's nothing against the teams in this fake conference. They are basically independents in a conference by name only. It's a loophole to keep their AQ. I know it's not ideal and it's been discussed before, but I still think it's ridiculous that the NCAA allows them to do this. Even though they don't have a conference schedule, they have a conference tournament with an AQ and then MW upsets CNU and steals a Pool C bid from another team. That upsets me more this year because of that.

It's unfair to the teams and conferences that beat each other up all season long, and then a team can get hot one weekend and steal a bid. I get that can happen in any conference tournament, and it is the beauty of this time of year. Still, overall, it diminishes a regular season and everything that goes into the grind of conference play.

Quote from: Augie2020 on March 03, 2025, 11:07:55 AMSeriously why would you put NYU and Emory in the same bracket after just playing each other twice?Makes no sense just like the bracket for Women you put out.The only team you put all the Midwest schools with is Scranton and if chalk holds serve and you did your seeding right 1 plays 16,2 plays 15,3 plays 14 and 4 plays 13 Whitewater is a 13 seed not a 14 seed.

I don't know if D3 follows this, but I found this in the Indy Star

Teams from the same league that played only once during the regular season — including the conference tournament — can meet as early as the round of 32.

Teams that met twice during the year can't see each other until the regional semifinals; teams that met three times cannot face each other until the regional championship.

Anyone know if D3 has anything similar?

Can all the midwest schools get to scranton in under 500 miles?

Quote from: saratoga on March 02, 2025, 08:18:35 PMIf Scranton wins out the first weekend, they should not be shipped out.
Sorry NCAA, get those 3 lower teams from the mid-west into Scranton by flight , bus, or Uber.
Then again...let's hold off till we see what the actual bracket looks like & not get all amped up over a "projected" one.

One of the benefits of being a Top 4 team per NPI is you stay at home till the Final 4.
Isn't the term used by the NCAA (Protected)?
Your body of work is the record you produced all year...don't take that away from the kids that earned it because, God forbid, you need to add a few more flights.

But, but.. It's less money for the NCAA to pocket!

How much is bad shooting a reflection of coaching, though?  You go cold, you go cold. It just seems typical, though out of the half the opponent comes out more prepared to play. That remains my concern.

Also, the 0 second half points continues to be the result of not rebounding.

Quote from: saratoga on February 25, 2025, 08:49:01 PMNot sure what Danzig's halftime speech consisted of but I'd suggest he re-write it.
Oh wait, the season's over.
Never mind.  ???

Thank God!

See you in November

Let's see what tonight brings. A disappointing regular season is behind them. Hate the cliche, "tough to beat someone three times", but let's see if they learned anything from the previous meetings.

Go Royals

Congratulations on Drew's first every top 25 appearance.

Seriously, though, the 6 seed plays the 3, not the 1 or 2.

yeah, that's a bad job by me!

pumped to get to 13 wins, and a conference playoff spot as a 6 seed, all for a chance to get spanked by Drew or Catholic. Yikes

Drew is really good if you haven't noticed. After starting 1-2, both losses by a combined 3 points, they are 19-1, with the lone loss to NYU

Quote from: Pat Coleman on February 12, 2025, 05:26:46 PMShort version: Schools generally left the CAC/C2C to get away from them. There aren't other D-III schools in the general area to replace Penn State-Harrisburg, St. Mary's (Md.), before them Wesley, Marymount and York (Pa.), before them Catholic and Goucher.

Wouldn't the ODAC seem like a geographical fit?

Can anyone shed light on why Newport, Salsbury, and MW are not in a traditional conference?

Don't forget about a win over a very good Bethel team.
