Wash U beats Emory by the same score they beat them during their regular season matchup in Atlanta: 2-1.

I suspected that if Emory was going to win they were going to need to score at least 2 goals during the game.  There was only one team this year that was able to keep Wash U scoreless through 90 minutes and that was Messiah in the Elite 8, sectional final game.  They just have too many weapons.

They win their 3rd National Championship in program history with a 2-1 win over Emory their UAA rival!

Coming up to 5 minutes left with Wash U still leading 2-1.

#9 Olivia Clemons probably just put this out of reach with a left footed shot a step inside the 18 for a 3-1 Wash U lead with under 6 minutes left in regulation.

Emory will need to be the only team this year to find a second goal in a game against Wash U to have a chance to win their first National Championship today, and they have under 12 minutes to get it done.

And just like that Wash U takes the lead with a shot from #12 Cami Colpitts from 20-25 yards out hitting the upper right corner of the goal.  20 minutes left with Wash U now leading 2-1.

Wash U ties it with a goal by #25 triple M: Monica Morales-Martinez right on the 18 line that goes over the goalkeeper's hands.  23 minutes left in regulation.

Wash U definitely coming out with more energy and possession.  Emory having a hard time getting the ball out of their end of the field right now with 10 minutes gone in the second half.

We will see what adjustments the coaches make at halftime.  I would guess that Wash U will show a lot more energy and maybe high press.  Emory it seams to me was already doing this in the first half.

Halftime sees Emory leading 1-0.  Emory definitely had more of the possession over the first half but Garcia was asked to make two very good saves to keep Wash U off the board.

Wash U starting to settle things down and showing better possession with 10 minutes left in the half.  Wash U's Clemons did have a good shot that required a good save from Emory's GK Sophia Garcia

Emory is just countering so quickly and they are giving Wash U some fits right now.  20 minutes left in the first half.

I feel that for Emory to win today they may need to find a way to score another goal against Wash U and no other team has been able to do that this year yet.
