Want to give a shoutout to the Continentals who made All-Nescac. Especially to Jake LaMalva, who started every single game of his college career. Incredible achievement, considering he moved positions multiple times (and was dominant at each of those positions) and was a fantastic leader. Chase White is also deserving of some praise- he was truly unblockable by just about every OL in the NESCAC.

You're right. We should probably do more trolling of 20-year-olds who play DIII football in a hermetically sealed 10-team conference. That's constructive and big-brained.
As a former player in the league as of last year who religiously read these boards, 20-year-old DIII football players are not too phased by what is written about them on these boards and gives themselves, their friends, and their teammates lots of laughs. If a player gets offended by the criticisms they receive from someone on this board, I would suggest they prepare themselves better for life after liberal arts college where it isn't all rainbows and butterflies and it isn't a crime to offend someone with their words.

Agreed. We always found it funny that people (especially people like NM) even cared enough about NESCAC football enough to troll online about it. trolling high school seniors is definitely a little odd, but at the end of the day people on this board talking about how the kids played and acted while they played is exactly the point of the board in the first place. As long as it's not personal attacks, who cares. I never took offense to anything negative anyone said on here about Hamilton when I played (which was a lot). If anything, it was motivation to prove them wrong.

Big Kat, I suggested you go watch the Ham v Tufts game if you think defense was optional... Conts held Berluti and Tufts to 17 points in regulation, including a second half shutout. That's the lowest amount of points Tufts have scored all season for all you counting at home. Couldn't be prouder of those guys who pulled it off they're an incredibly gritty group who have earned the respect of every team they've played according to coaches across the league.

Interesting hypothetical with the transferring inside the NESCAC. I believe the NCAA rule is that if you transfer inside your conference you have to sit out a season, like the old transfer rules. I know that's the D1 rule, not sure about D3 though.

Big win for my Continentals! Refs in that game were awful- ejected a player for targeting who wasn't on the field instead of the guy who did it

Lots of competitive balance in the league this year. Couple of "knock out" games with one loss teams facing each other (Wesleyan @ Hamilton and Tufts @ Williams). Although it would not be a shock to see 2 loss teams sharing the crown when it is all said and done. Intriguing game with Bowdoin @ Middlebury. The Hammer and Colby appear to be making real progress. Makes the league much better
I think Bowdoin @ Midd will be a very good football game. Haven't seen any Midd games yet but was impressed with Bowdoin against my Conts and Williams. I think Bowdoin will be dangerous in the coming years with that young QB RB duo

I think Colby are a better football team than a lot of people give them credit for. They've done a very good job recruiting in the last couple classes and are a couple difference makers on the OL and DL away from being a top tier football team. They're clearly well coached and disciplined just need some size up front to be able to consistently compete

Would love to hear some thoughts about the Continentals. Do we think it's a case of Amherst being a bad football team or the Conts taking a step forward? From what I saw looked like the Conts dominated the game and should have won by a whole lot more.

President Whitman at Hamilton goes to every home game. Big supporter of their program. HCOF Murray is also very involved with other aspects of the school, so it goes both ways.

Always need to be careful evaluating guys off their high school film, many NESCAC guys were just bigger stronger faster and look average in the NESCAC. Opposite goes for guys who played in really strong leagues against D1 competition.

Welcome! Great thing about the NESCAC (as a former player here) is that in most situations, any team can beat any team. There are obviously some exceptions, but take a look at Hamilton vs. Amherst in 2019; great example of the "any given Saturday" attitude.
Recruiting is interesting. I definitely played with a lot of "Big fish small pond" guys. They're usually more raw (for a variety of reasons, including reliance on pure size in high school and crappy coaching). Guys out of more well-known programs are usually more equipt to play immediately.

Not sure about where he coached most recently, and I don't think there's much of a scheme change (at least from what I've heard and obviously subject to change).

Hello Gentlemen- Long-time reader, first-time poster. Recent Hamilton grad. Some interesting info on Ham if anyone's interested straight from the current players. 1. They've hired a new OC already; he's a very experienced NFL/D1 coach that HCOF Murray knows well and from what I've heard players really like him. New OL guy as well, less info on him though. 2. Some current players read this board, we always found it funny when our names would pop up (mine never did). Hopefully, Hamilton gets it going this year, was really disappointed with them last year and they're losing some of the best players they've had in years (Cairns, Ball are the main culprits). They played a lot of close games, really hope they can grind a few more wins out. Brutal last game at Bates, too.
