Ironically, I witnessed Williams do the opposite against Conn Coll in the NESCAC semis. They went to PKs, and replaced 6'5 GK Ben Diffley with another smaller keeper. Conn Coll went on to make all 5 goals - not blaming the other keeper as all shots were very well placed, but it just seemed odd to swap those GKs at that time.

There sure is a lot of talk about Hamilton "blocking" WestConn in the regional rankings. But consider this - maybe both teams deserved to make the NCAAs. Perhaps the committee should reward wins at 2.5 or 3 instead of 2, placing a greater emphasis on wins and less on ties. Tufts skipped ahead of Hamilton after their NESCAC quarterfinal "loss" in Pks to Williams, which counted as another tie, pushing them to 7-2-7 instead of 7-3-6, and putting them ahead of Hamilton. So everything being said about Williams applies to Tufts - too great of a reward for ties benefitted both teams. A greater win value in the rankings model should be considered in this tie-happy world we are now in.

Another reason NESCAC might say they are the best league is their 40-4-11 out of conference record this year, and the fact they had 4 teams make the ncaas last year (out of 11, while uaa and CC had 5), and all 4 went to at least the Elite 8, losing only to each other.

Seems like the weighting for wins should increase in the tie-happy-no-OT world we are in now. Leagues count 3 points for a win, perhaps they should count as at least 2.5 in w/l % calculations by ncaa rankings committees.

Not sure how Vassar gets in over W Conn. And how much does SoS get factored in - Hamilton beats Lynchburg and UW Platteville on that metric.

4, 5, or 6 teams for NESCAC? I'm guessing 5. Does Williams rank ahead of Hamilton?

Will Williams stay ahead of Hamilton in weekly rankings? 6-1-10 is slightly higher % than 8-4-4 assuming wins are 2 points in the calculation. Maybe NCAA should consider giving 2.5 or 3 for a win in this ranking system. Regardless under the current system does Williams stay ahead of Ham?

D3soccer.com Championship Central page shows all the conferences and the AQs. For CCC they show the AQ goes to the regular season winner, Endicott. Is that accurate or does the playoff winner get the AQ? Followup question, if the AQ goes to the tournament winner, would Endicott get an at-large bid?

Based on that, seems like Hamilton's only path then might be 1) NESCAC take 5 teams (assuming here they don't take 6) 2) Williams loses in regulation to Conn and falls behind Hamilton in final regional ranking, 3) Conn doesn't win NESCAC final. Thoughts please.

I have a question on selection criteria for Pool C teams. Since Tufts has a higher NCAA regional ranking then Hamilton, does that mean Tufts would get in before Hamilton? Hamilton beat them head-to-head so not sure how that factors in, or is that already taken into consideration in the regional ranking?
