Rather interesting hire. Comes from the same coaching tree as Pesik. Both were GA's under Rod Carey.

Terminology should be similar at least.

Quote from: NCC2010 on February 13, 2025, 12:37:04 PMOk finally had some time to put together the commit list for NCC.

Up to 35 commitments from what I have found, mainly from players posting on X.

5 QBs have committed, 2 transfers and 3 coming out of high school

For the accolades column, tried my best to just go off what each player had in their X profile, not sure how accurate it is.

NCC 2025 Commits

I can't overstate how unbelievably impressive this list is. 35 local kids from quality programs.

I can't think of another program being able to do this.

Well, if Thorne wants to get back into coaching....Elmhurst would be the logical destination.

Interesting fact, Elmhurst's OC (Joe Furco) is the COO for GoRout. Thorne works for GoRout as a sales rep.

Rather surprising hire IMO. I thought they would do better.

Quote from: TheChucker on December 14, 2024, 05:30:42 PMAfter seeing the replay, the RT did hook the defender around the neck. The defender still wouldn't have made the play because of the RB help, but it was a hold. I wasn't watching earlier in the game to see if similar holding was ignored or not. Regardless, it was an asshole move by the refs to rub salt in the wound and penalize for unsportsmanlike conduct. They just ended a team's season on a subjective call then screwed up by trying to end the game early. Refs need to stop making it about themselves.

Haha what? Dude took his helmet off and then threw it to the ground while yelling in the refs face.

Taking your helmet off is a penalty in itself.

Not if the refs said the game was over, which they did. It is only a penalty during the game, not after it and the refs claimed the game was over - so yeah, it was a dick move by the refs. How about the refs taking some responsibility for screwing up?

Game wasn't ruled over at this point. Shortly after this the refs came together and ruled the game over and then changed it.

How bout Bethel just take accountability for a bad holding penalty and for a player throwing his helmet.

Why didn't Bethel kick the FG to tie? Was roughly a 48yarder.

That is as obvious an hold as it gets. Watched it live and thought the ref didn't have the stones to call it and Bethel won. Kudos to the ref that made the call.

No kudos given to the white hat who initially called the game over until Bethel's coach corrected him.

It was a very blatant and obviously hold. The DE's jersey was even pulled off his shoulder pads.

Tough way to end your season but kudos to the ref for making that call in that scenario.

Any candidates for the IWU job yet?

Springfield plays press man all game. NCC will need to rely on the pass game more than usual

Quote from: SpartanHouse4 on November 20, 2024, 03:02:16 PMIn the past, didn't D3 use a selection committee? Just go back to that.

If the selection committee was popular, we wouldn't have NPI, right?

That's my point - you don't know you had a good thing until it's gone.

The Committee's were not a good thing. Did you forget how NCC got screwed out of seeding/hosting last year by the R5 RAC's notions vs the Nat Com's notions. There were constantly moving goal posts and RACs doing weird stuff to rank meh teams, to get other teams additional RRO W's for seeding or at large advantages.

It will never be perfect. But we have 12 at large bids this yes, that's a huge bonus. There's also a process to refine NPI. If there's no dial tweaking we can complain more, but it's the first iteration. ECFC won't have a bid next year. Improvements are looming.

It's better than what we got this year.
A committee is better than leaving it to the computers.
Perhaps the wrong people are on the committee.

Quote from: Crubill on November 17, 2024, 08:22:30 AMIf UMHB truly reached out to everyone to schedule a game and only 1 team accepted, nobody has room to complain. Any bubble team that thinks they have a better team than UMHB was given an invite to prove it on the field.

They backed out of an agreement with Aurora University and I know Aurora would embrace getting them back on the schedule.

Interesting. That would be huge if it happened. At what point did they back out of the previous agreement?

It was around Covid.
