If he does transfer he is going to be missed. I thought he was missed last year but best of luck to him if this does happen.

Scored in the 82 minute then in the first sudden death OT with breakaway goal by going around the goalie. The Marshall defender should have never left his feet but he was tired. No excuses for him but when you are fatigued sometimes you just don't make the best decision. The defender played a great game just made a little mistake. Hats off to both teams. Thought they both played their hearts out. Congrats to UVM for being the National Champs.

December 05, 2024, 03:28:06 PMQuote from: maineman on December 05, 2024, 02:15:12 PMI wonder if the officials selected for the game are from out west? If so, they may have no idea of the NESCAC style of play. Would they apt to "let em play" or would they be assessing fouls and cards at an exponential rate compared to what is tolerated in the New England. Then Amherst needs to adapt. Good teams do.

What is even more interesting is the the player of the year Henry Brown is not even on any of the list.

Just to add to the conversation SLU use to play Middlebury and Hamilton on a regular basis on their schedule. I think Hamilton was the same league as many of the Liberty League teams. SLU also played Amherst and Williams many times in the NCAA torunament and those games went down to the wire or Pk's. Some of them SLU dominated the game but was unlucky. The NESAC has some great teams in it and best of luck to them in the final 4.

November 25, 2024, 09:22:04 AMQuote from: Convict charlie on November 14, 2024, 09:16:41 AMI think you are right especially that the some colleges you have to pay for your own transportation, food, and lodging which is why they don't participate in it. It baffles my mind the amount of money that some of these colleges charge for tuition but can't put up a team that represents them in a positive way for a weekend. This happened at my school 30 years ago and it still going on todayQuote from: Kuiper on November 13, 2024, 10:53:15 AMQuote from: Hopkins92 on November 13, 2024, 10:15:13 AMYork?
This isn't really a tournament of the "first out" schools like the NIT might be in basketball. You have to pay to be a member as a school and then decide to participate in this competition. It's possible neither happened in this case. I just like the option of playing another game or two that might mean something, especially given how short the college season is already.
If I remember correctly you have to apply before the ncaa tournament also since the field is announced just after. Our college would only pay for the trip if you had made your conference tournament finals that year. Nice to have games but still can be quite the expense.

November 24, 2024, 06:30:13 PMQuote from: paclassic89 on November 24, 2024, 04:26:55 PMThis Amherst/UWEC game is shaping up to be a brutal watchThat is an understatement. It looks like helter skelter out there and I don't think both teams have strung 3 passes together. Would have loved to see UWEC 26 goal scorer play but he was injured. The PK I guess you can say was controversial as many players stopped except for NuNu who just took off with it. Don't think the ref or linesman was in position make a call but it happened so fast. Smart play by NuNu to keep playing though.

That is no excuse to have back to back games for a loss. It is the same for the other team and use to be how it was every weekend for years. Some games were not even 24 hours between games. You have to do it in the NCAA tournament so you might as well get some experience in how it is.

Reddish played well. Very impresssed with hm today. With Baker, Gustuv, Reddish, and Ogong coming back, that will be a very good defense.

Great game although I think Vassar had the better of the play though. Defense for both teams were tough and resilient. Tough way to go out for the seniors but they can hold their heads up high. Hope Tosh hits the recruiting trail hard because he has some tough, skilled and all around good seniors to replace.

November 03, 2024, 06:55:55 PMQuote from: stlawus on November 03, 2024, 12:24:54 PMYou're right, should have clarified when I say OPOY that it's essentially interchangeable with POY since a defensive player is never given the award. OPOY doesn't mean just most goals scored, but in this case Brown has the most and I believe the year end awards do take into account the entire season (I could be wrong, I know there are SIDs on here so please correct me if I am). Devall having the most shutouts and Skidmore going from the basement to a 3rd seed should give him DPOY, but there are plenty of deserving candidates.Didn't Harry Copeland get POY his Sr year and was defender. I could be wrong about this though

November 02, 2024, 07:45:38 PMQuote from: Saint of Old on November 02, 2024, 07:18:17 PMThank you. Wycall was just a smooth player. Mogul reminds me of him. Lennon was very good but there are some goalies like Sutton I would put over him but SLU has had so many good keepers throughout their history. Rose started the Jamaican connection. Great player but even better human being. Same with Brito. Came in as a freshman but played like he has been there for years. Wiley was another good player. The thing about playing at SLU it is like a family. Hopefully these guys can make a run in both tournaments.Quote from: Saint of Old on November 02, 2024, 07:15:54 PMKevdog.Quote from: kevdog on November 02, 2024, 06:58:45 PMMy apologies.Quote from: Saint of Old on November 02, 2024, 06:26:43 PMFirst time in 30 years SLU has had single digit wins in a season. That 1993 team was pretty diverse. We had players from CA, FL, Jamaica, Cape Verdes, NJ, MA, NY, CT, etc. It was the team that started to change the program around as it was the first winning season in years and they were invited to the ECAC tournament but the administration was not going to pay for the trip.
Also the least diverse team since 1993.
Not sure this is a coincidence.
Love the effort of the boys.
Good on Brown for scoring 11 goals (so far) and all these players should be proud of what they have accomplished. An undefeated league season is nothing to snif at... but the style of play won't get you dancing and progressing. Have to play more fluid football. But hey, guys will tell us that this is how you have to play because the game has evolved.
The eye test does not lie. Even more than wins and losses, the football needs some more individualism more magic injected into it.
Team recruiting won't change and neither will style of play.
Let's see how the post season plays out.
I should have gone with 92.
Around the time when Chris Rose came in with the Jamaican pipeline and Brito began the African pipeline.
Either way, let's say least amount of diversity and resulting diversity of playing style in over 3 decades.
Props to you and that entire 93 team BTW.
Program was on a downward trend for a good 15 years before that team began the turn around. Guys like Scott Wiley/Wycall/the best goalie footballer in program history Colin Lennon. What a team.
3 of my favorite ever all time Saint seasons have always been 93/94/2011
