Excited to see what has been brewing at Bowdoin over the Summer. Will they be ready to play post injuries is the main question. As we all know, I am expecting a big year again from McGowan who was ridiculed by injuries last year but was ready to have a MJ type of breakout year. Very excited to watch Da Bowdoin Bears!

Excited to see Bowdoin open up this season against Husson and Emmanuel this coming weekend. Excited to see how the team looks and how McGowan looks with the new guys. I am expecting a huge season from James (Jimmy, Legend, MJ, Shai, Tmac) McGowan this season and this weekend should be the start of something amazing!
Time to back off on the hype campaign.....Jimmy, Legend went 2 for 21 shooting tonight against a team Bowdoin should own. Not sure if you're his father or brother but maybe back off on the hype and let the kid find his game. Then kid doesn't need the cheerleader routine.
I didn't know college kids weren't allowed to have bad games. I still see McGowan having an all american year. Everyone has an off night, its about how you bounce back. I bet you have had more off nights than these kids have. Let him grow. The hype train lives on. Be nice to these kids man.

Word on the street is that fully half of NESCAC teams are planning to forfeit their scheduled games against Bowdoin, rather than show up and be humiliated.
Wow. I hope this isn't true. Would be a shame if McGowan aka MJ doesn't have a chance to shine this year!

Would not be surprised to see McGowan have a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander type of breakout year. Or a season like the last 35 seconds of Tracy McGrady's performance against the Spurs where he scored 13 straight points. I am very excited to watch him control the hardwood this year.

Man oh man, I am very excited to watch Bowdoin play this year. Don't call me crazy, but I can see this team, led by McGowan, going on a run in the regular season, hosting it all, and winning on their home court. Thats just how good they are and how good he is. Bowdoin will put the league on notice this year. HAGS!

Will King has tweeted out his senior year highlights and that he has 1 year of eligibility left. Will be looking to do a grad year elsewhere I presume. I don't know exact what level or league will best suit him but it's hard to imagine wherever he ends up he won't be a very productive player.
And by the way, watch the video. It's a total treat. One of the most fun players to come through the NESCAC in a long time.

Preston Maccoux has also just released his senior highlights and said that he has entered the transfer portal... An elite senior player who impacts all aspects of the game that I expect to see at another high-level academic school. I am very excited to see where he ends up

JHU has won 13 of their last 14 but I question the quality of competition in their Centennial Conf vs the level of play in the NESCAC. For that reason I'm expecting the Continentals to continue their excellent play into the Sweet 16.
Although the Centennial may be a top-heavy league, the top of that league is one of the strongest in the country. Swarthmore is one of the best teams we have seen in division 3 in a while and beating them is something that is extremely impressive. Although they did lose in the championship to Swat, it was a great game that could have easily gone either way. I am excited for that game but can't really vision Hamilton beating a team that has played Swat so well.
Good luck to all the Nescac teams this weekend, hopefully all four make it to the next round!

Based on rankings, I believe that the locks for Pool C bids are Williams, Middlebury, and Tufts. That fourth spot is going to come down to Hamilton, Wes, and Colby. This weekends games has huge implications on the three teams.
I am predicting Williams and Tufts to both win on Saturday, which would put Wesleyan ahead of both Hamilton and Colby in terms of Pool C bids. I really like the idea of Wesleyan getting in as they have had the hardest SOS out of all three teams. The Cards have played 5-6 games against teams ranked in the top 10 and have an 11 game win streak to show for. I think they are battle tested and have a good chance to make a long tournament run should they get in.

I am not too familiar with the selection of the All-NESCAC teams. Do the playoffs have an implication on who makes the all-league teams? I can't imagine James McGowan not being at the top of many peoples list if this was a regular season only award. He had an outstanding sophomore year averaging over 18 mpg while being basically the only focus for opposing teams defenses. He has had spectacular games that have flown under the radar. However, his team not making the playoffs may hurt him if the playoffs do count in voting.
Points per game (ppg) not mpg.

That being said, the reason they've been so competitive is the culture that head coach Brandon Linton has continued since his arrival. They preach the details, accountability and competitiveness.
Something that I did notice this weekend was the questionable coaching decisions of Linton, especially against Wesleyan. Tufts was down 1 with less than a minute to go when they called a timeout (with no timeouts remaining) leading to two technical free throws and Wesleyan ball. Definitely an unacceptable mistake this late in the season especially in a huge game with big playoff implications. I am aware that mistakes do happen but a mistake like that is unacceptable for a team that "preach[es] the details"

After following the Nescac for quite some time, I finally decided to join the boards... and man oh man, what a great season this has been. I am so excited for the playoffs and what might come out of it. My first round predictions:
Williams 58 Trinity 63
Hamilton 65 Conn 54
Wesleyan 76 Colby 61
Middlebury 57 Tufts 59
Going to be an amazing Saturday of basketball! (p.s. Congrats to Amherst, Bowdoin, and Bates on another competitive season in the Nescac)
