When Miron committed to Oshkosh, it was for BASKETBALL, not football.

If he isn't happy, he should figure out if that bridge is burned.  He'd have had a meaningful role there this year, they've got multiple freshman contributing now and have several last year guards now.  Oshkosh invested heavily recruiting him and I heard they were shocked when he went elsewhere in June.

Does WIAC allow transfers within the league without restriction?

The WIAC changed the bylaws this summer and now allow immediate eligibility for a one time transfer (if they meet all the other transfer requirements).  But they can't transfer in the middle of the season.

The old bylaw allowed a transfer after the freshman year, but not after that.  They would have to sit out for a year.

Quote from: ShineTime on November 28, 2023, 11:21:08 PMI'm stunned Whitewater lost but a loss early doesn't hurt either!

I don't agree. This could come back to bite UWW in the butt. Any loss, even for a team that seems predestined to make the tourney either as a Pool A or a Pool C, hurts. It could contribute to spelling the difference between hosting and not hosting, for instance.

The defeat adversely affects all the top teams in the WIAC, as each non-conference loss undermines the overall strength of schedule for everyone in the conference, thereby making Pool C bids more challenging to secure.

In an official visit, programs can pay for meals, tickets to games, even give spending money for other entertainment.

I found this survey (not just basketball) that asked d3 institutions which of the "official visit" offerings they it's and which they wanted to have changed. I found it interesting.

In short, especially for d3 programs who are competing against d2 organs for players, these extra "official visit" perks help make a player feel like they are a top recruit, target than just someone visiting the university.

The WIAC severely limits recruiting benefits.  Recruits can get picked up at the bus stop, one meal on campus, and can stay in the dorms.  Their recruiting rules start on Page 11.

Lacrosse should have no problem hiring a good head coach or up and coming assistant.
What are the odds former La Crosse assistant Kenny Finco steps down at Ripon to take over the program he helped build with Dernbach?

Coach Finco's fiancé is the soccer coach at Ripon.

Didn't they have a intra-conference rule about sitting out a year if you transferred within the conference? Was that ever a rule? Did they get rid of that rule (Covid/portal) or I presume there might be exceptions regarding coaching changes.

The WIAC still has that rule for all sports.  But it only applies if you have played two seasons.
