Week 4

17-2 on season

RPI 27. Endicott 23. Has the making to be a great game. Kazanowsky is improving each week and so is the defense.

Hobart 28.  Keystone 7. The statesman are playing better each week and are on a different level. Keystone is a young program and just not ready for LL top dogs.

Ithaca 41.  Curry 0. Curry gets outclassed from opening kick.

Rochester 24.  UNE 10. Yellowjackets are better than we think and will end up beating a top LL team this year.

Montclair St 23.  Union 14. Drach is a pass first coach with a weak o-line and troubled QB. Recipe for a long season.

Buff St 36.  Alfred St. 20. Don't know how good the Bengals really are but I'm pretty sure A-state sucks.

Quote from: Bartman on September 23, 2024, 11:38:57 AMMach, I agree it is not 2010, but the LL is desperate for a quality win. I think Hobart beat a good Moravia team(beat Utica) yesterday, but not a ranked opponent. If RPI beats Endicott( and I think they can) then RPI will be receiving quite a few votes. If it is a decisive victory, RPI should come in at a high twenties ranking(heck , it is obvious that Wisco Lacrosse is a powerhouse this year and RPI did better than the score indicated). Not that rankings are critical, but it does get noticed by recruits as far as quality of league. So, at least for this week, go Engineers!!!

Bart, I agree with your thoughts on RPI climbing the rankings "IF" they can pull out a win. Moravian is a solid team and Hobart defense looks really good and the offense looks to be coming around. A tune up against Keystone should have them ready for LL play.

Other than LL games I'm especially interested in R-M and UWL. I think if R-M wins big against a solid Berry team and UWL competes against GVSU (#2 team in D2) we should feel a little better about the Statesmen and Engineers losses.

RPI 38 - WPI -13, best qb/wr duo in LL starts to gel and the defense limits penalties

SPRINGFIELD 34 - UNION 14, the Pride jump out to early lead and lack of passing game dooms UNION.

ITHACA 42 - CURRY 0, bomber defense doesn't bend against weaker opponent.

WNE 27 - SLU 17, weakest team in LL.

HOBART 17- MORAVIAN 10, offense is still questionable but defense is close to elite.

ROCHESTER 24 -SALVE 17, I honestly have no opinion on this game...I'm just tired of watching jackets lose.

Week 2

Ithaca - 26
Endicott - 24

Two very good well rounded teams. If the game wasn't at Butterfield I would probably pick the Gulls.

RM - 31
Hobart - 13

It seems like the Statesmen are at this point in the season are a one dimensional running team and I just don't think that's enough to upset a team of RM caliber especially after a long bus ride.

Union - 28
Maritime - 7

Drach and his coaching staff start to figure things out and the Dutchmen start to roll.

RPI - 41
Wilkes - 16

I'm confident that Wilkes D is NOWHERE near the same caliber as Lacrosse. After last week the game is gonna look slow for the engineers.

UR - 28
Alfred st - 7

Rochester is gonna beat the teams they're supposed to beat, time will tell if they can take the next step.

SLU -20
Norwich - 6

Who cares? Larries are gonna be the worst team in LL.

Buff St - 59
Hilbert - 0

1. ITHACA - I was impressed at the way they jumped on Hopkins but they should be able to run the ball late with a lead. More run game and less deep balls and I think they pull off the upset. As good as they are I think with their schedule they may end up a 3 loss team.

2a. RPI- The defense stood tall and hung in against a possible national champion for a half unfortunately dropped passes and 3 and outs by offense kept the defense on the field too long. We'll know more about this team in few weeks when they play Endicott.

2b. Union- They didn't look as bad as RPI but they lost to a solid UTICA not a Powerhouse UW LACROSSE.

3. HOBART- Unimpressed but I think Dewall gets them on track by the time league play starts.

4. ROCHESTER- A win is a win.

5. S Lawrence- Nothing positive to take from that performance.

6. BUFFALO ST - I believe they are recruiting better and improving but not yet.

You really think Hobart won't beat Alfred, a team they've handled easily in their last five meetings?

I'm hoping for a L/L sweep but Ithaca and RPI have their hands full and would have to play flawless football. Hobart lost Boswell and Denham and that's enough for me to think the Saxons have the edge and I think Union has a tough and physical Utica squad.
