Quote from: sjujohnnie on January 06, 2025, 11:09:32 AMLooking ahead to the fall, how does anyone see St John's looking? Looks like we have two open dates yet to be filled with non-conference opponents. Obviously the toughest test of the conference slate will be traveling to Arden Hills to face Bethel in the third conference tilt of the season. How different will our squad (& theirs) look? We have a transfer QB from USD that will competing to fill some big shoes. Can we build on this season or do we take a step back?
I think they will only play one non con due to playing full MIAC again next year? Not sure.

Johnnies should be solid again, probably not quite as good as this year. The more research on the USD QB, he might not even play much. Only started a couple high school games and went to USD as a walk on because his father was an all American there. Probably wouldn't beat out Dittbenner. My sources are telling me that a couple more transfers are yet to be announced, potentially another high profile QB...

Do your "sources" have any info about any pass rushers, linebackers or shut down corners that might be in the portal mix?
I cannot reveal too much and risk burning bridges for future Woj bombs. I do believe there may be a big transfer DB coming soon...

I did read an article where Gary was previewing next year. Sounds like they are making some position changes going into next year. St. Fleur (#33) moving to OLB, Charlie King - the part time TE with big drop in Susquehanna game is moving to DE. Supposedly has tools to be an elite pass rusher. Frank and Gallagher also back. Time will tell. Filling linebackers will be tough.

I honestly feel the only team that had a chance to knock off North Central was SJU. Would've been playing them at Clemens with a high powered offense. Still probably would have lost by 2 scores, but I think that's the closest anyone will get.

Adding salt to the wound for Bethel, Matt Jung enters the transfer portal.

I could see him filling his older brother's position at NDSU.

One thing I have been surprised by is that SJU has not gotten anybody poached(knock on wood).

Looking forward for SJU- Trey Feeney, former MN High School player of the year is in the transfer portal from North Dakota. He threw for a gazillion yards and TDs in high school playing under his dad at Moorhead HS. Could we do it again??? Oh how one can dream.

Quote from: sju56321 on December 07, 2024, 08:06:59 PMTo be clear-all I am saying is SJU should have been playing in the semi or even quarter finals more. I am not saying SJU should have won championships-not with ncc and uww out there at the time.
That's fair. Was really looking forward to North Central coming to Collegeville this year for the semis. Damn.

That was a bummer today. Susquehanna is a very good squad though.

Not sure we can fully blame the coaching staff for 0 national titles with the last two QB's. After all, the coaches are the reason those players came and developed the way they did. SJU has had many all time QBs who didn't win a title either (Seiler, Ramler, Linneman, Koefed). I think it is just really really hard to win it all. Everything has to go your way and you have to be supremely talented. You need to stay healthy and get every bounce.

Bad weekend to be a cheesehead. Gophers take the Axe and both WIAC teams get bounced. Good riddance! Reports after the game from the players was the UWL was the cheapest team they ever played including spitting on SJU players.

Quote from: gobigred425 on November 26, 2024, 12:45:48 PMAll 3 All-MIAC QBs were Johnnies at some point. Syverson, Mattern, Drews. SJU backups and 3rd stringers will be hot commodity on the MIAC NIL market!
As I understand it, SJU is the only one paying NIL money in the MIAC.
Oh, I was just kidding. I don't anticipate that type of thing happening in D3, at least I hope not. It has made D1 an absolute mess. Although I could certainly see more SJU backups trying their hand somewhere else after seeing the success of Mattern and Drews.

Studer the All American receiver did not play today for UWL? Anyone know why?
