November 12, 2024, 01:54:34 PMQuote from: crufootball on November 12, 2024, 01:15:40 PMNow, that is a fair, understandable and reasonable statement of position and disappointment. IOW, classy.Quote from: TLU05SA on November 12, 2024, 10:48:14 AMI am curious. Who would fill the head coaching position and build and maintain the program to expectations expressed on this board?
Driving home from Abilene this weekend I spent a lot of time wondering what should or should not happen at UMHB. I am personally not ready to say Coach Harmon needs to be replaced but I have no doubt that he would say that something needs to happen to alter our current course.
Personally I think the worse part about the last couple of years is the state of unrest with everything relating to the football team and the entire conference. For over 20 years, Coach Fred was our guy, we had a tight grip on the conference championship and while non conference games seemed to be hard to get, they eventually were got. We were clearly spoiled by the success but I think there would not be quite as much distress if we weren't also worried about the future. When you look around and you are no longer winning at the same rate and have nothing solid to hold onto regarding the future it is fairly easy to be more disappointed then you might would have been after a couple of so-so seasons.

The HPU video feed is squirrelly to say the least.

In any case the round robin, home and home format will make the season beyond interesting as it unfolds.

Though an HSU fan I, too, was surprised at the jump after a bye
Maybe some voters were considering that HSU had defeated HPU 38-6 (?) away in Brownwood. This week HPU won at Lyon 41-14 or so.
Last week HSU won at Curry 72-21 This week Curry won 50-0 at [whomever].
Not saying that justifies it. But polls are just polls this early in the season. Ask Whitewater.

Wasn't Westgate Christian's win against John Melvin U, UMHB's next opponent? Says something about next week - and for the scheduling problem for UMHB and the rest of the ASC.
Just saying.
Just saying.

Westgate was a scrimmage for HSU. As Westgate will be for UMHB.

That Hudl video was confusing. The score it showed was 66-0 WCU, but the video showed only HSU scoring. Funny. UMHB should have no problem.

Why is UMHB v Westgate not on UMHB's schedule on d3football.com?

Agreed. Just a caution that none of us allow our passion become entitlement. And that line is often very fine.

Just a few observations:
1. Nobody hates losing more than I.
2. I have been disappointed with my teams' losses too many times to remember.
3. We fans must always remember that our players and coaches hate losing, too.
4. It's D3 and the players are young men and, in a sense, paying to play. (Well, that's what D3 is supposed to be about.)
5. We fans are not the ones practicing in pads, etc. in the preseason nor the ones in the weight room in the Spring. Nor are we the ones pouring over film, counseling players (and parents), planning practices, and the other many duties of coaches.
6. We fans are not entitled to winning - as much as we revel in it and as much as we have experienced.
7. This was the first game of the season. We should make no more nor no less of either wins or losses than that.
8. From what I could find,Bethel of Tennessee was ranked #8 in NAIA this preseason. Make of that what you will. The point is, they were not pushovers.
These are things we ALL need to remember. In Spanish: solamente digo.

Was perusing through some schedules on D3, and I was wondering: What in the heck is Louisiana College doing playing Alcorn State (an FCS school). And what in the heck is Alcorn State doing scheduling them (after playing Georgia Tech the week prior)?
Does LC have that big of a problem getting games?
That says something about upper level D3 playing lesser/lower level FCS.

Good guess. Just wondered if ETBU had an injury bug or if SRSU brought along the Marfa lights.
In any case gotta give SRSU congrats.
