Yeah the wow was definitely for the mid-season thing.

The press release was insanely vague too--which screams out to be that there is some improper activity on his part here somewhere.

And I'm not so sure he wasn't allowed the privilege of resigning to save face either.

I have no inside knowledge at all...just to clarify.  This is all my speculation.  I could be completely wrong...but it sure seems fishy.

What is the over/under for Grinnell at Illinois College later this week?

I'll go 202 because IC might actually try and play defense and not be an act in the circus....

SNC has the river running along side of it - makes for gorgeous scene. Frankly most look quite nice

Lawrence has the same river, and much nicer architecture then SNC in my opinion, but of course I'm probably biased.  The Banta Bowl carved into the hillside with the river beyond is a pretty damn nice place on a Saturday afternoon...assuming you aren't in fact watching the football being played in front of you.

MWC play starts this weekend for Lake Forest.  A night game at Lawrence.  Should be a decent test to see how the passing defense performs.  Last year was a big improvement from the prior year, but needs to get even better.  I'd look for LFC to put a lot of pressure on the Lawrence QB.

On Offense, Valdivia sat on the sidelines last week not dressed.  We seemed to be walking around fine so not sure what his status is this week.  Two Freshman running backs stepped right up though and along with Alec Howe they did fine.  The test should be to see how QB Mike Lewis does.

If you don't win by at least 3 tds you should be worried about your offense....

Mac to the MWC is official:

2 divisions with a schedule of 5 division opponents, 2 cross-division opponents and 2 non-con games.

Division winners will play last week for big to NCAA Tournament
Rest of conference will play cross-standings opponent to keep 10 game schedule.

In a standard sub-par year for the MWC, yes I agree.  However, it has been shown that teams can escape the WIAC/CCIW trap and advance, or play well enough during the regular season to get that MWC or Nathcon team to come to you. The MWC is still better at basketball than it is in football where whatever team wins usually rolls over easily.

Very true, if you're Larry U.

I'd still say for all sports.  How many years has the MWC representative actually won a game in the Football playoffs.  3 times since 2003.

At least every other year or so a basketball team at least wins a game.

However, still a tough test for SNC.  Wheaton is never a fun place to play, but yes slightly more winnable then the Point game may have been.

Because of the geographical location and the overall strength of the Midwest (geographically speaking, not regional), teams from the MWC and the Wisconsin-based NathCon teams will always get a CCIW or WIAC team.  Breaking into the Regional Rankings will be even harder for teams like St. Norbert next year and beyond with the shuffling of regions...the WIAC teams will now be clustered with the MWC and CCIW, to name a few, in a newly named Central Region.

Well well, what the hell
St Norbert is one and done
That really stinks, eh?

Just to prove that I am baised against Grinnell...

What a choke job by SNC....that one's gonna hurt for a while.

It's probably better to choke in the NCAA Tournament than to, say, lose by 25 points at home to your archrival to keep you out of the conference tournament for the fourth straight year. Now THAT would be embarrassing!

Frankly, one would think blowing a huge lead in a NCAA game which is much more widely viewed would be much more embarrassing, but having never had a team choke away  a 14 point lead at halftime of a NCAA game, I wouldn't know that shame.

Another Grinnell chokejob....color me surprised  :o

Congrats to SNC, but they get no gift getting UWSP in the first round.....

You might be looking at Pat's projection instead of the actual bracket.

Note to self- posting while hopped up on cold drugs leads to reading things that aren't always what you think they are.
