Adrian resigns from Edgewood College to go to Otterbein...

Nice hire for Otterbein. It will be interesting to see how Edgewood handles it with UW-Oshkosh and UW-Superior both open right now. There are some good jobs open.

From Twitter. Appears UWEC is in no rush. Or the UW System red tape is holding them up.

If they really wait more than week it wouldn't surprise me if they have to start over. Hire someone, for heaven's sake. I feel bad for the finalists whose names are out there and the kids in the programs of the head coaches who are wondering if they'll be looking for a new head coach soon. UWEC needs to get this wrapped up asap and let people move on with their lives.

What happened at the end of the CUC game? Do they not have a kicker good enough to try a game winning FG?

I'm sure most have seen this by now - Lakeland shuts out Aurora, and Benedictine pulls out a 15-14 win at CUC. Lakeland heads to the playoffs. Heartbreaker for CUC. It will be interesting to see who Lakeland draws. They already played Central of Iowa - would they play again? Maybe UW-Whitewater?

Does anyone know what happened to Aurora? Injuries? Are some people not playing that should be? They have really been a disappointment.

Congrats to CUC on a really big win! All they have to do is win out and they are headed to the playoffs

Wesleyan 52, Aurora 6 (IWU had 566 yards)
Carthage 50, Lakeland 34 (Carthage had over 600 yards)
Wheaton 54, CUW 3 (Wheaton had 544 yards)

The league is not very good this year, so yes CUC might have a chance. The winner of this league is going to get absolutely blasted in the playoffs.

I think Gard is a curious choice. He's never been a head coach before - this has to be the first time in a long time that UWP has hired someone with no head coaching experience. I was always told that Todd Adrian was pretty much responsible for the recruits that have led to their success the last few seasons, and that Gard was the hard worker that got things done but did not have as big of a role. I thought that Adrian was the safe choice - he's been a head coach with success (although it is in an inferior conference). It will be interesting to see how Gard does. And I agree with wcbsas - recruiting to UWP has got to be very tough. Tradition only goes so far - and the kids today don;t care much for history.

Apparently UWP is set to announce their new coach today ... Friday June 5th!

The smart money is on Jeff Gard.

According to Platteville's Webstie the deadline for applying for the Basketball Coaching position was Monday the 18th.  Does anyone know who applied and the time line?

Apparently they are going to interview as many as five people and that Will Ryan's name keeps popping up a lot. The top assistant Gard, Adrian from Edgewood, and Lance Randall are going to interview. Doesn't it seem like Lance Randall applies for everything?

Rumor has it that Grezek, the SNC coach has thrown his name in the mix for the opening at UW-Plattville.  Not sure how much strength his bid might have with some of the bigger names being discussed, but he could be an interesting dark horse canidate.

Grzesk's name was the first to pop into my head.  Not sure if either are likely since they haven't been with their respective teams very long.

Grzesk isn't going after the Platteville job.

The UWP search will be interesting for sure. Would they really hire Jeff Gard? I know he has been an assistant there for a while and has some strong family ties there, but he has never been a head coach. I have to think UWP will have some candidates who have quality head coaching experience. This still has to be one of the better DIII jobs in the country, and I just can't imagine giving it to someone with no head coaching experience.

If it really is wide open I would think Todd Adrian at Edgewood would be in the mix as well. He was top assistant under Combs at Platteville and I think at Lakeland before that, and his team won their division of their conference this season.

If I was the soccer coach I'd call him and tell him off. What a first-class jerk this guy is. And please don't post on here that he's just defending the honor of his players - I've dealt with him in the past on some things, and unless you're doing something that's going to benefit him, he doesn't have a lot of use for you.

Lakeland's defense completely dominated Concordia WI today - only 25 yards rushing yards from the NAC's top rushing team coming into this week. This isn't close to the same defense that stumbled to a loss at CUC. Next weekend's game at Aurora should be a good one. Aurora will have to win through the air. It will come down to the team that makes the fewest mistakes.

CUC 21, Lakeland 12 middle of the second quarter - so about what i said, never mind.  ;)
